Maera walked through the dark of the forest, slightly worn out from having just distibuted her new children. Inazuma, the father, would get two to raise with his girlfriend. Loki, her son, received one to help him learn of the responsibilities a child brought. And the last one, the one she brought with her, she was going to give to the father of her last children, to blaze. So that's were she headed this night, towards the house where he lived.

Blaze sat on the steps of his house. Ember was off searching for something or other. The girl liked the night and he couldn't blame her, her mother did as well. Thinking of Meara, he wondered what she was up to.

Maera walked until she was extreamly close to Blaze's house, and she cautiously peaked her head out of the treeline. She saw him, sitting on his doorsteps as if nothing mattered. Her ear twitched in a slight aggrivation. How could the one whom she had her first litter with, the one that dispite his leaving her and her second litter she still loved, seem so content without her.

Blaze sighed and laid his head on his paws. Thinking of Maera always made him melancholy. Why? He knew deep down he still loved her. He then whispered "Maera." To himself not knowing how close she really was.

She stared at him, he appearing sadder at this moment. What did he just say? Her name? He couldn't have, could he? Perhaps, she was the reason he was so sad, but that didn't mean that he missed her. He could just be sad that she had left him with their daughter Ember.

Blaze looked up almost feeling the eyes upon him. Was she out there? He got up, maybe it was time he found her. Last time she was in the forest in the shadows...that was where to look, right?

Maera saw him stand and she took a step back further into the shadows. She glared, perhaps this wasn't the time to give him this egg. Perhaps there would never be a time for her to. She continued to stare at him as she took another step back, and a small twig break cut through the silence of the night.

Blaze was ready to go on his mission, to find his love. He gulped as he wasn't sure of her feelings, but that didn't matter all that did was finding her.
His head whipped around as he heard the twig break. "Hello?" He called out to the shadows. Could it be? Was she right there all this time? "Meara?" He jumped down from the porch and trotted over hoping it was her.

She glared downward at the twig which had just revealed her, and cursed it in her mind. Her ear twitched as she was called, and she took another step back. Her glare moved to focus on the nearing male. The male she loved, the male she hated. Her dispised lover.

It had to be her, he knew it in his heart. He got to the spot of the break and looked into the shadows. "I know you have to be here, I've missed you." He blurted it out to her or the trees if he had been hearing things.

"How could you?" She practically spitted out, not moving from the shadows. "How could you possibly miss me when you didn't even bother to look?" The red of her eyes was almost glowing around the black centers as she seethed with emotion.

That was Maera alright. He looked at her his eyes looking sad. "I did look, but then the egg arrived and our little daughter needed me." It wasn't a great excuse, but that was that happened. "Then I figured you moved on, but I never did. I've only thought about you this whole time."

Maera was simmering. "I wasn't excactly in a difficult place to look. I made sure that if you wanted to find me that you could." She sighed before looking at him with an almost sad and cynical smile. "But, I am a foolish woman and have made the same mistake twice, and twice have I been punished in the same way for it.

"Punished?" He wasn't sure what she meant by that comment. He looked down, "I'm truly sorry. You can hate me if you wish, but know I love you." He didn't care what she did next, he was just glad she was here for now.

Maera sighed as she nodded wearily. "Yes... punished..." She pushed out the egg to him before taking a step. "Can you still say you love me when she is not yours?" She was hoping he couldn't, and at the same time hoping he could.
