I'm actually planning on making one out of scrap metal, whenever I decide to get my lazy a** out of the house and go to the scrap yard.

It looks far too glittery for my taste (or is that just because of the camera's flash?), but else I think it looks fabulous! Especially the bulb gives it an ingenious touch! whee

Especially the bulb gives it an ingenious touch! whee Yeah, I'm not too fond of the glittery texture, but my spray can's nozzle was dirty so all the paint came out thick, instead of smooth how I intended.

I was thinking of Citadel and spray painting one of the recent Nerf guns (The recon, to be exact...)
The plus is that citadel paints dry thin and let you see the texture, no matter how much is applied (exaggeration, I think you'll lose texture if you glob enough on.) The downside is that a Citadel paint is 3 dollars for a tiny little bottle. But it's REALLY good paint.

SPI -14 I was thinking of Citadel and spray painting one of the recent Nerf guns (The recon, to be exact...) The plus is that citadel paints dry thin and let you see the texture, no matter how much is applied (exaggeration, I think you'll lose texture if you glob enough on.) The downside is that a Citadel paint is 3 dollars for a tiny little bottle. But it's REALLY good paint. The problem with citadel paints is that their primers and spray paints are way too expensive. I have been painting citadel miniatures for years now and I've experimented with other brands of primers. There are some that are better than others, but overall you shouldn't need citadel primer for the amount of detail that is required for something that's so large as a ray gun. As for the little bottles of paint, once again you shouldn't need to spend 2-3 bucks per little bottle. Just use whatever you have on hand. Those paints are meant to bring out textures on models less than a half a millimeter. This is a bad thing when you're working with an object that has large seams like a plastic toy gun because it brings out imperfections and makes it look that much more fake. Citadel sprays cost about $15. Not worth it. I got a can of spray paint from the local Home Depot for about $4 and it worked just as well. Just as long as you do multiple light coats rather than one heavy coat.

I meant regular spray that I can get for a dollar. the paint I thought as citadel for the shiny bits, or making a wood grain texture on the handle. I already have it, and it has the colors I'd like for the job.
I paint miniatures too. got a whole Tau army and then some...
