These people are prisoners of war, not crimminal convicts. They deserve the rights of the Geneva convention, but not the full protections of U.S. law. Releasing this person was a mistake, I'll concede that.
Now on to a somewhat related note, the closing of Guantanamo Bay. First of all, the facility wasn't always a prison, it was once just another military base. We have dozens of military bases in countries around the world, and any one of them could be converted to a new prison complex, without the public relations disaster that Gitmo has gotten. All we need is the host countries permission, which means Clinton better get moving on this at once. In the end, I think people are making too much of the closing, acting as though there is no place else in the world that we could possibly put these people. There are, and we just need to work out the details.
(Though it might require something more substantial than 25 DVD's, Mr President. Sorry, I couldn't resist.) xd

Well I'm not going to lie there was an undertone of the gitmo closing in my reasoning for posting this article, I just feel like the world opinion of America isn't going to change with a token closing of a pr nightmare base, and as for the gift to the brits 25 dvds was a good start Obama now make a public apology to the brits and I'm sure it will all be fine.
