This topic was pretty much inspired by a thread I came across in a random forum I lurked once. I thought the question at hand might bring about some interesting discussions. smile

Basically, Fanon involves random thoughts you have about the characters, about how they think and the things they've done. They're not exactly defined by actual canon, but they still fit within its bounds (well...in our own individual minds, anyway razz ). They can range from outrageously humorous to dead serious.

So, as the title says, I ask you: What's in your Fanon? What do you like to believe about the characters we like (or hate) so much? Why?

I'll get the ball rolling here.

Firstly, Because I like to indulge in a whole lot of lolz, I like to imagine that Kratos and Yuan had a friendship similar to Viktor Vasko and Mordecai Heller's from the webcomic Lackadaisy. Viktor = Kratos, Mordecai = Yuan. For those of you not familiar with the comic, I give a few examples:

Lackadaisy Sordid Sniffles
Lackadaisy Valentino (Only, I would imagine Kratos as being more in Mordecai's position. xd )
Lackadaisy Quick-Fix
Lackadaisy Massacre (I can totally imagine Yuan doing the "no one who counts" bit. rofl )

...Only, Kratos and Yuan's exchanges wouldn't be as morbid. Not to mention...Viktor and Mordecai share a similarity with Kratos and Yuan in which they both used to work on the same side, but over time and certain events, they eventually turned against each other. That's one of the reasons why I see how Kratos and Yuan's friendship would be just as similar.

Secondly, I like to imagine Anna didn't consistently keep up a gentle, graceful demeanor. I like to imagine her as a woman who was tough whenever she wanted. Thus, she would give Kratos some tough love where she saw fit, even going so far as to hit and RAAAAAAGE at him. xd As depicted in some fanarts I seen floating around in DeviantArt, but I just can't locate them at the moment.

That wouldn't be so much as a stretch if it wasn't said by Marta that the lifespan of Elves and Half-Elves only goes as far as 1000 years. I don't remember when she said that (I'm still at halfway in Dawn, LOL), but I strongly remember that she did. sweatdrop

On the other hand, I tend to believe Lloyd and Colette are still alive somewhere in Phantasia, although I'm still debating with myself whether or not that can fit within the bounds of actual canon. lol I mean, correct me if I misunderstood, but they're angels now, right? And angels basically don't age anymore? Heehee...likewise, I would also believe that Kratos is still alive on Derris-Kharlan at the time; and Yuan, also somewhere in Aselia. xp

Uh... on the same odd note, I believe that Regal knows how to play an upright bass. Bizarre, but totally true~

Hm... Well, I like to elaborate a lot on the relationship between Tabatha and Mithos; I like to think that Tabatha loved Mithos (platonically) quite a lot, and it completely broke her heart to learn how much he hated her. Not that that's not very close to canon anyway, but yeah... I really love those two's relationship~

I'm also one of those people who toys with the idea that Kratos was the one who taught Zelos to use a sword; it's not really my fanon, but the idea does interest me, because it lends even more to the sort of broken father figure Kratos almost is to Zelos, imo. If... that made any sense?

Lessee, what else...? Well, this is more of an observation than fanon, but even though this is never addressed in the game, I think Colette is really the only one who truly sees through Zelos's little act. Think about it: she does the exact same thing, lying and hiding things and pretending everything's wonderful. It makes me a little sad that the game doesn't really bring up that aspect of their personalities.

Uh... not going to get into anything that involves 'shipping, unless you want to hear that. Because I can be pretty weird when it comes to that... ^^;

Also, I agree that Anna must have been a pretty tough woman. She'd have to be, ask me.

LLoyd and Colette are meant to be together forever (as annoying as she would be to live with), and the same goes for Zelos&Sheena, Genis&Presea and Regal&Raine. xd

I can SO imagine Kratos drawing loads of pictures on the walls in Derris Karlan out of sheer boredom, like the weird person in Excel Saga episode 3/4, Tetchan. xd Those who've seen it will know what I mean.

I don't know what you're talking about, but I can so imagine that as well. rofl Either that or he starts a very long game of Truth or Dare with...very grave consequences. Because he's very aware he can pwn them all. lol

And on the previous notes, that makes me imagine Presea working as a policewoman who poses as ***** bait. Oh dear lord... rofl

Ever since that conversation, I always thought Regal and Presea were definitely gonna end up together (age definitely isn't that big of an issue with me for some reason xD;; )...guess Dawn proved me wrong. But I do like the idea of Regal/Raine. surprised

I think I can give leave to discuss pairings here, even though it tends to be a huge topic of its own. Would give this topic more light, and it still falls under personal canon... Just, y'know, explain the logic behind them. 3nodding

Yeah, I'd say the term we want here is 'fanon'.

I'm not much of a Shelloyd 'shipper, but I don't see how on earth it's a ridiculous pairing. Lloyd and Sheena are incredibly similar - they're both idealistic, to a similar extent, both very brave and loyal, and have many of the same opinions. It's also more or less canon that Sheena has a crush on Lloyd, so... One-sided is pretty much canon, and mutual isn't very far-fetched, at least in my opinion.

(I'm not trying to start a pairing war or anything, just some friendly discussion. ^^; )

Mm... if we're getting into pairings? Well, I probably shouldn't list my reasons for loving Zelloyd, because once I start I'll never stop, and I doubt people want to hear them. But... other pairings? I love Zelos/Colette too, for the reasons I've stated above - Colette is clearly the most perceptive person in the party, as well as the one who has the most in common with Zelos, and I can see Colette accepting Zelos very easily. I think a relationship between the two would be incredibly interesting.

I also like Presea and Colette together very, very much. Basically, I feel like for a lot of the game, Presea takes responsibility for Colette, not to mention how their personalities click - Presea is nearly emotionally numb and generally rather depressed much of the time, whereas Colette embraces feelings and pretty much loves everyone. I feel like Colette would help Presea open up a lot, and that Presea really does deeply care about Colette but doesn't know how to express it, and I think Colette would understand that. Still not as awesome as Zelos/Colette, though.

Uh... yeah. I'mma stop rambling now. n_n

Actually. Regal was 17, Alicia could not have been older than 12. Yeah, I'd say she was a bit young for him...

Haha, I was just going by that thread I've seen offsite. All right, that's been corrected. xd

I more or less believe Mithos had feelings for Martel that went beyond brotherly. sweatdrop But he would never express such because he'd think it's wrong.



Well, I pretty much entertain the idea a bit of Kratos being able to move on and fall in love with other women, while still holding to some deeply fond memories of Anna. If his next woman wouldn't respect that, he dumps her. xp

I'm inclined to believe that bit about the Exsphere too. O.O
