Participating in this Bonding RP is REQUIRED to qualify to win one of the pups from the Valentine's Breeding RP CONTEST and FLATSALE. Mirror and turn posting are not required, and there are no minimum post requirements - but we do ask that you try to keep up with the roleplay. Remember, your Recruit must be ELIGIBLE to bond via the roleplay requirements in order for you to participate in the Flatsale:
Failure to "claim" your pup (aka roleplay accepting and choosing a name for the pup you win) within 10 days of the winners being announced will result in you losing the wolf.
Adrian leaned against the podium as he looked over the few recruits who had proven themselves ready to bond with a wolf, all gathered in the lecture hall as he had instructed. Once the enthusiastic chatter had died down with an annoyed glance from him, the Drill Sergeant walked forward and made sure he had the strict attention of everyone present. "Listen carefully because I will only tell you once. If you don't pay attention, it won't be my fault if you get mauled by a wolf."
Scanning the faces of the recruits to make sure all eyes were on him, he continued. "As soon as we're outside, I want you all to walk in two single-file lines, oldest at the front and youngest at the back. Do not walk ahead of me or I will personally shoot your knees. Once we reach the cave, keep quiet and stay in your lines or I will have Nightwing drag you back here. When the wolf pups start coming out, do not run towards them or move in any way - they will come to you."
"Any questions? No? Good." Without waiting for a response, Adrian walked briskly out of the room, expecting the recruits to follow like good (possibly loud) ducklings. He strode through the hallways, pulling hopeful recruits away as they attempted to sneak into the line. He'd have to check his roster again once they reached the cave, just to make sure nobody 'unworthy' had somehow managed to slip in unnoticed.
As soon as he stepped outside of the Academy doors, a familiar dark wolf sat waiting for him. With a nod, the Drill Sergeant paused as Nightwing stood up and led the way. Adrian glanced over his shoulder to make sure everyone was in order, shouting a quick, "Stay in formation!" and a "Not you!" to someone trying to slip in.
Adrian walked with long quick steps to stay in stride with the wolf, not caring that some of the recruits had to jog simply to keep up with their fast pace. It took nearly fifteen minutes to reach the far cliffs where the dens were, and he could feel the excitement radiate off the recruits like radiation. Soon a particular cave was in sight and Nightwing stopped a respectable but short distance away from the entrace, and Adrian did the same.
Pivoting to glare down hard at the recruits, the Drill Sergeant waited as the few tricklers caught up and they all fell back into their straight lines. "I want you to spread out into four rows, from oldest to youngest in the back. And remember, if any of you dare move out of formation, Nightwing will break your neck."
Can I really?
If you can get to them before an angry mommy-wolf.
I can settle with an arm.

As Adrian began, the recruit tilted his head, heart pounding. If his hands hadn't been clasped behind his back, they would have been shaking from nerves. Russ took his place in the line, holding formation silently as they moved.
He had no idea why he was nervous. Whatever happened today would be out of his hands. That his heart was racing seemed almost pointless. He had worked hard, had waited for so long, and now he would either reap the benefits or continue his existence here.
If he grew too old? What then? Before he could travel down a mental path for failure, Russ jerked out of his thoughtful phase. He could lament about that later (probably would, too), but, for now, the present called. He kept up the pace easily, loving his height for the moment.
When they drew to a halt, he stood stiff, peering into the cave from the distance, in hopes that he might see a flash of fur or something to let him know that this wasn't a dream, that it was real. The next order was met with a scramble to get to where he belonged. Once he had that figured out again, his eyes returned to the cave.
'No fear, Russlove.' A small shake of his head, enough to startle the phantom voice from his mind. E could be important - would be important - later, no matter the outcome, but he needed to be here. The past or future would do him no favors until this was over.

Jashua easily fell into line, practice at this having taught her well. What struck her was that she was at the head of the line, no head in front of her to stare at. A brief glance over her should told her there did seem to be fewer eligible recruits this round, the first Bonding of the season, and that made her feel a bit better. But no matter how she looked at it, this was her last chance, this season was her last chance, coming spring she would have to leave the Academy, go join Loche in the bitter disappointment of the unbonded.
Jashua shook these negative thoughts from her head, focusing on the now not the future. The group was not only smaller than she remembered, but it seemed so much quieter without her rowdy bunch to pester Adrian and see how far they could push it. Killing time, and giving her nervous hands something to do, she began to preen herself as Adrian got the newer and younger recruits in line. She checked her bun, making sure not a hair was out of place, her uniform was buttoned properly and as perfectly centered as the human eye could get it. Her skirt was straight and unwrinkled , her socks were pulled up as high as she could and were even, and lastly her shoes were tied tightly and not coming loose any time soon.
As she finally settled to the fact that she was as good as she was going to get Adrian had begun walking. Jashua hurried forward to catch up and once she had she found it easy to settle into a quick gait to keep up with him. The pace was comfortable and she wouldn’t tire or start sweating during the trek there, she would still be in proper condition to meet the wolves. She stood stock still as Adrian gave the usual warning, don’t do anything stupid or you’ll get yourself killed. Once he had finished she joined the others in falling back into line. Another shock, she was in the front row this time, facing only the mouth of the cave. While this was nice as she would be one of the first the wolves saw, though this hadn’t helped Loche, she would also be the first an angry mother would see. Jashua gulped, standing still, waiting patiently.

Yaz listened and watched carefully, slowly slipping into her place among the formation of other students. She wanted a wolf, mainly because everyone else around her seemed to want one themselves and selfishly she wanted the same. But Yaz had a cold personality she didn't want to make friends with anyone, in in truth she hadn't made any friends while she was here at the academy and that didn't seem to bother her much. Her cold blue eye's focused on the back of Adrians head as they walked, or more like he walked, Yaz ended up having to lightly jog in order to keep up with the tall Drill Masters pace.
Reaching the caves happened much the way Yazmako had anticipated, willing her self to remain calm she found her insides shaking uncontrollably even though she herself was not visibly shaking. Clenching her fist as her eyes moved back towards the strange dark wolf who walked towards the cave edge she smiled. How many pups would there be, how many would emerge from the strange and dark wolf into the light of their own.
Eger to see the path the young ones would take and what color's they would be, Yaz had to start thinking of what Fort she wanted to go to. White Shadow seemed like an open and very feminine fort, where New Eve seemed to hold the colder harsher side of the riders. Yes definatly New Eve if she managed to bond, that would be were she would go.

Kaela stood quietly at attention as the Drill Sergeant gave his brief instructions, the picture of meek submission. The grueling past four years had made her stronger, braver, and more emotionally stable, but the perfect obedience, legacy of Aston's torments when she was but a child, was still evident in her demeanor. Her fear had lessened significantly, but even at eighteen she had yet to overcome her past. In fact, it came as a surprise to her that she'd been chosen for the bonding at all.
To bond at eighteen was beyond her wildest hopes, but nevertheless she hoped with a tenacity born of hardship. If she joined with a lupine partner today, it would only be a matter of weeks before she could see her child again. She could finally reclaim Jakob from foster care and bring him to live with her at whatever fort she ended up at. And perhaps the hope lingered, buried so deep she hardly knew of its existence, that in her bonded she might find the love and acceptance her soul starved for...
Such thoughts occupied her though she still paid the utmost attention to Adrian. To have come this far and fail...she could almost see Aston's gloating leer, beckoning her back. You cannot win. You will always be mine. Forcing the image back, she focused on the blackness of the cave entrance, concentrating her all on the simple task of spotting the first movements within. If she could keep the turmoil in her mind at bay, perhaps she might better her chance of a pup seeking her out. Such was her hope and resolution.

Aspen almost rolled his eyes but it would have been against him to do so, they had made it this far why would the man even begin to think they could not follow directions; still he stood silently listening as directions came and of course the hearty layer of threats as per-normal. Yea, don’t move as if anyone who has been here wouldn’t know that, there was nothing like having your body torn to shreds by an angry wolf thinking you are hurting the pups. He looked around he there was a question for anyone to ask what they will, of course no one raised their hands had they done so it would have been rather stupid most likely leading them to get brought back to the school to learn more; no one should have questions at this stage only the will to learn on their own and strive forward fast and strong.
When Adrian turned with a curt command to follow he did so being one of the few in the front, he guessed being older had its privileges when it came to these things. When finally they left those horrible walls he breathed in what seemed to be fresh air hardly taking notice of the black wolf padding silently in front of them, after all it wasn’t as if he had never seen the wolf before but it was the first time in years he had been outside the academy walls in the more open lands that seemed to stretch forever. He had a sudden feeling to run and never stop but he held it in check, instead he kept in line just holding back from jumping when a snap command to stay in line was ordered and a light scolding of someone who tried to step out of it.
Soon they were all walking or at a brisk jog to keep up with the older Wolfrider, but the other male didn’t seem to care at all as he did not glance back a single time simply walking beside his wolf as if they were on entity; Aspen admired it to his core for he thought there was nothing better than that of a full bond of both trust, will and mind. It was a short time before the Cliffside came to view where the dens of mothering wolves were carved out in stone protective and caringly, it would be here the pups would be some looking to bond and others just looking to be without a rider; he held the image of a wolf firmly in his mind’s eye then, trying to call out purely with his soul. He wanted a wolf no other rider would think to want, a wolf scruffy and small looking sickly and weak to even its mother; this wolf he would help to strengthen and make great. He did not care how others would look at the puppy the only thing that mattered to him was to have someone who would connect with him fully and holly so that they could be like the top teams thinking so alike no spoken word would be needed.
Suddenly they were all stopped and Aspen looked up to see the Drill Sergeant pivot and turn to send a chilling glare at them all and another command with again a layering threat of pain should it be broken. Doing as asked again Aspen found himself in one of the front lines already nineteen this was his first time seeing the dens and getting the chance to bound he would not mess this up no matter the time it took for it.

I shouldn't be here...
Her mind kept repeating this over and over again. She had always loved wolves, as long as she could remember, but she was ever so afraid...and that fear was mixed with excitment; a bad comibination...a very bad combination with a mother and her pups. Amber looked at the other recruits and suddenly felt defensive and competitive. This wasn't a test and this wasn't a game; her emotions were out of control and this would cause problems. Amber closed her eyes and counted.
One...two...three...
Her body began to relax.
Four...five-
The it suddenly became quiet. Amber opened her eyes and saw her drill sergent standing before the students. She hoped he hadn't seen her. What would her sergent say if he saw her trying to keep herself in check? Surely she'd be thrown out for having so little control over her emotions. Her eyes stayed on her sergent, intent on listening to all that he had to say. It was common sense matter; anyone here should know these things already. If they didn't, why were they here? 'They will come to you'... It sounded so strange. What if the wolves weren't show who they were bonding with and chose the wrong person? They were young and could easily make mistakes...heck, even the people around her could make mistakes...but how would she know if she was with the right wolf? The drill sergent asked if there were questions, but walked away too soon for anyone to ask them. Amber had her questions, but she kept them silent. As the students began to form a line, Amber went towards the front, being as she was already seventeen. Joined late, finding a wolf late...my life as a Wolfrider is already looking slim... Her heart skipped a few beats as her mind once again filled with excitment and soared at the idea of being so close to the wolves. More than anything, she wanted to find her wolf; ever since she had seen the Wolfriders as a child, it was all she wanted. No other job appealed to her; mining had its own bad memories, she wasn't much of a welder, she wasn't the brightest at math, and she prefered to spend her days drawing and reading than studying...and she would always wait for the Wolfriders to come though just to marvel at them. The recruits ahead of her began walking, her mind suddenly went from the present to her love. As she followed close behind, her mind thought of walking through the city, hand-in-hand with Billy. Her throat tightened, her eyes stung, and her shoulders became tight; she tried to push the memory aside, but it still persisted. She remembered cuddling up with him outside in the grass, him holding her when she was at her works, laughing together as they played outside in the rain. Amber put her head down and did her best to keep silent as she kept walking. Her pace quickened and she nearly ran into the person ahead of her more than once. She apologized to them and realized the memories were gone. She had no reason to be upset; Billy promised to wait for her and to write to her every day he could. She'd already gotten the first letter and she was in the process of making a journal to send to him. Once that journal was filled, she'd buy another and start again. He was doing the same for her and they both knew that it would be a hard time...but they'd gone though worse together; this was just another trial, another wall in the road for them to get around. She smiled at that thought. Of course, they would be able to make it together.
The student ahead of her stopped; she came up behind him and stopped behind him...what would happen next? Amber finally noticed Nightwing and felt her heart skip again. She couldn't help but admire the wolf; it wasn't like any other creature that still ran in this Earth. She watched her sergent turn to them, glaring with fully serious; this could easily become a life or death situation. One stupid move, and you could easily endanger everyone here...including the pups. Her hazel eyes shot over to Nightwing; if something did happen, she didn't think Nightwing would be too keen on protecting a fool from a rampant mother wolf. Amber relaxed, Stay in formation, don't move, and don't do anything stupid. I'll be okay! Amber followed the recruits around her into formation, moving with the older recruits. It was getting cold and she felt her body begin to shiver. Amber hoped today would be her day...more than anything, she wanted a friend she wouldn't have to hid from.

There was a defiant gleam in the girl's eye, as Cassadaine saluted dropping her arm to her side as she fell in line with the other recruits. Some were older than her and some younger...but all of them were here for the same thing. A wolf. The thought brought a small smile her face, but she quickly killed it, deciding it was best not to let the drill sergeant or that monster wolf see it. Heaven's knew she'd had enough hell with those two to last her a lifetime and then some.
This was her chance to bond, a chance to get out of this place and try her hand a suriving in the world. The future had always been something that had eluded her, but not today. Today she had a goal, a very very clear goal. She was going to survive this encounter with the wolves and not get maimed in the process for angering any wolves. The last thought made her swallow and she merely shook it off. No need to think of anything like that. There would be no maulings...no angering of wolves and no injuries.
Clentching her fists at her sides, the ebony haired girl swallowed fighting down the butterflies in her stomach. Fright, that's all those were. Pure fright and to be honest she was going to fight it. Afterall...hadn't she learned a million times that wolves could smell fear?

At the beginning of your post, include a list of preferences for the wolves you want, bolded in the default text color. If you decide to take your character out of the FS, say so instead of posting preferences - and feel free to continue roleplaying if you want. Suddenly, soft whimpers of uncertainty could be heard from the mouth of the cave, and shadows could be seen making their way tentatively towards the outside world.
First came a bundle of orange, bounding out in a leap of energy, stumbling a few steps before catching his balance. The young male trotted towards the recruits eagerly, quickly searching through their minds for one that would suit his own.
Then came the two females, one a shadow that blended into the darkness of the cave if not for the touch of orange under her belly and the other as bright as the snow around her. The latter walked forward shyly with a soft whimper, pushed forward encouragingly by her sister. They made their way together towards the first row of recruites, the little white female pausing in hesitation as dark one walked slowly down the first row.
Next came a black and white male, touched by a hint of sky blue on his underside and legs. He sniffed the air delicately, ears perked in interest as he eyed the unfamiliar adult wolf standing to the side. But his attention was quickly captivated by the recruits before him, and he let out an enthusiastic bark before bounding towards them. He ran past the first two rows before stopping in the middle of the young humans, head tilting this way and that as he allowed his mind to reach forward to theirs.
Lastly, the third male crawled forward with a silent cry, not wanting to leave the safety and warmth of the cave. But his siblings were out there and he wanted to be with them, so he moved forward slwoly with his belly close to the ground. A few feet away from the recruits, he lost his nerve and started to step back, but a reassuring rumble from the unfamiliar Nightwing lifted his uncertainty. He stepped forward so that he was hiding behind his dark sister, peering out at the humans from behind her little form.

From first to last... F1, F2, M2, M3, M1 ~~~
Amber's mind continued to meander. She thought back to her life in school, hiding in the corners from all the other kids so they wouldn't make fun of her...eating alone and trying to convince herself that it was better than being with people...working alone when everyone had partners for their project. Amber was use to being alone and having to fend for herself, but, with everything else, that all changed when Billy walked into her life. He made her to say what was on her mind when everyone would turn away and leave her alone when she told them to forget it; he pushed her to ask for help when she refused to ask for it; and he would reassure her that no matter what they went through, they were in it together for the long haul. Amber loved it, but at the same time she hated it. It was a new concept for her; being alone most of her life meant she'd had to adapt to new things alone...and now that she had Billy, she had to learn to adapt to everything with someone else. Amber sighed, growing impaitent. It was cold outside and she was not too fond with this cold weather. She shivered against the cold and stared at the cave for a moment before she looked away. She kept her eyes on the grass below her, her mind beginning to trail off again wen she heard a whimper. Her head snapped up. Could it be? She watched the shadows move around the cave before they came though into the light. The first to appear was a hyperactive orange one. Amber smiled as she watched him stumble about...then he came up to the recruits and began to search their minds. Amber held back a wince as she felt him enter her mind; she'd never get use to the idea of a wolf knowing everything about her before she could even know them...but at the same time, it facinated her.
Two more wolves appeared out of the cave, one black and orange, the other white and black. Her heart skipped a beat. Both of them were so beautiful. Amber's eyes stayed on the black and orange one, trying her best not to stare at it in case it seemed threatening, but she couldn't help it. She watched as the black and orange gently encouraged her sister to leave the cave; Amber smiled. Wolves were so similiar to humans...Amber felt her heart skip as she watched the females come around the rows. Again, she did her best not to appear threatening, but she couldn't help but admire them...she was so enthralled by the females that she didn't notice the black and light blue male until he barked as he bounded toward them.
Hold your ground! Amber thought to herself; the wolf had caused a small rush of fear in her as he bounded towards them. Amber stayed in her spot, still as stone, until her nerves calmed and she continued watching them. Again, she felt the wolves entering their minds; she didn't wince this time, in fact, she wondered what they were seeing in her mind. The last wolf came from the cave, looking more terrified than all the others. Amber's heart went out to him. This was a scary world they lived in, but here he was safe. Amber watched him interact with Nightwing for a moment before he bounded towards his sister. Amber stood, watching and waiting, her heart soaring...and for the first time since she became a recruit, she smiled.

||My adorable little F1~|| Jashua held her breathe as the wolves emerged from the cave. They were so pretty, so small, they almost seemed fragile. This feeling washed over her every year, and every year it felt like a completely new experience. As subtly as possible Jashua reached into her pocket and gripped the letter there. She had grabbed it before she left, it was from Loche’s address. He must have heard of the Bonding today. But she hadn’t opened it, not yet. She would read it afterwards so she could respond properly. He deserved that atleast. Gripping the letter for comfort she watched the young male bound out of the cave cheerfully. But her eyes were on the females following him, the white one seemed almost scared, but the dark shadow behind her seemed confident. That trait seemed almost familiar to her…Jashua forced the thought s from her mind, turning her attention back to the pups. The gentle male also caught her attention, observant and playful she couldn’t help but smile. Behind him another male followed, shy and reserved it actually took NightWing to prompt him forward. Jashua wanted to reach out to him and tell him it would be okay, but she couldn’t. She had to keep herself here at the front of the line gripping the letter with all her strength to prevent herself from moving forward, from fixing her hair, from adjusting her uniform. She tried not to focus on any wolf in particular, she didn’t want to accidently force them into a decision, but her eyes kept darting back to the confident, black female. ‘This is it Josh. This is my last Bonding. Wish me luck?’ ‘Of course Loche. But what about me?’ ‘Heh. Good luck kid. But you still got next year to. This is the last Bonding of the season, the last bonding for me.’ ‘Don’t worry Loche, how could you not bond?’ ‘Don’t worry Josh, I ain’t. You just gotta promise me you’ll go to the same fort. I aint done with you yet.’ ‘Deal.’ Jashua forced the memory from her mind. Loche, confident, determined, strong Loche had failed. What chance did she have to ever Bond. NO! That was not how you were supposed to think at a Bonding! That would only scare away the pups! Jashua smoothed out her mind, trying to keep it as blank as possible, trying to force back the memories…
Calla slipped off WoodWhisp's back at the edge of the clearing. She had to come, these were WoodWhisp’s pups and she had to make sure they were going to good people. For once in her life Calla kept her entrance quiet, watching the pups emerge from the cave and look the Recruits over. Pulling out Metaphor and a rag she began to polish her prized gun absentmindedly as she watched on. Part of her wondered if Alister would be here, the other part wondered if Alister cared enough to be here. Calla chuckled as she thought back to her Bonding day. The mostly white, groggy fuzzball stumbling out of the cave. She’d marked that day as her new beginning, but when she thought about it she was just the same old Calla in the end. Dark thoughts plagued her in the back of her mind, ‘Who was Calla?’ and ‘Where did Calla come from?’ Calla ignored these thoughts, her focus on the present and the future. So what if she couldn’t remember her past? She was a WolfRider now so whatever it was didn’t matter. She’d survived the Academy, she had bonded to WoodWhisp, nothing else mattered.
WoodWhisp deposited Calla at the edge of the woods and crept forward. The father moved as close to the cave mouth as he dared. He still couldn’t believe it, he was the father of these beautiful little bundles of fur, these were his pups. The awe that came of WoodWhisp every time he saw them took root again, but even so he turned his attention to the cave, hoping to see the mother of the five little ones just about to Bond. Twilight would certainly be here, she’d been here with the pups for so long. He had been here almost as long, insisting he stay and make sure Twilight was okay, help keep an eye on his pups, it took a lot of convincing to get him to leave the cave. And WoodWhisp was glad he hadn’t, it was amazing how big they’d gotten since they’d been born, to watch them grow bigger and scamper about, and play. WoodWhisp couldn’t help but stand proud as the Pups ventured forth to find their Bonded, but still he looked towards the cave, hoping to see Twilight.

|| F1, M3, M2, F2, M1 ||
Eustace stumbled uncomfortably forward, apologizing in her mind to every person she accidentally bumped into. She would have said something were Adrian not in the middle of a speech. Instead, she resolved to apologize to each one later, memorizing every face so that she could recognize them. She wouldn't seek them out, but instead mention her regret to every one she would meet up with at another time. She shook her head and clasped her fists tightly behind her back. She couldn't think about anything else now. If she was going to bond, she would need to be at her best, physically and mentally. Physically, she was fair. Her mind was a disaster of too many brain cells bumping together to form incredibly irrational and possibly insanity-inducing thoughts.
She made a pitiful attempt at controlling herself again, only to notice everyone scrambling into formation. Without thinking, she'd taken her place too. She marched forward, focusing all of her energy on keeping her feet in the same pace as the person in front of her. Eustace did surprisingly well for the first thirteen minutes. Then her mind got to wandering and she fell out of step. With so many students, who would notice anyway? When the group arrived at the cave, she had to clench her jaw to keep it from chattering. To say that she was nervous would be an understatement. Eustace was terrified. It wouldn't be surprising to her if she didn't get one. After all, it was unlikely she would bond so soon after joining. So many Academy Students fell out. She was probably the same. It would just be so amazing if she could bond. That anticipation along with the possibility of incredible disappointment was making her queasy.
As clear as day, she could see the first leap out of the den, courageous, outgoing. And then the second, a female, confident. The third, also female, took each step with care. The fourth, another male, curious. The Fifth and final, a male, incredibly timid. Eustace stood there in awe, all of her apprehension gone. For a moment, it didn't matter if she bonded. She actually thought it might be better if they didn't. Any of those beautiful wolves deserved so much better than her. 'Maybe,' she thought. 'Maybe it would be better if I waited another year.'

|| M3 just in case you couldn't tell ^.~ ||Cassadaine's breath caught in her throat as she watched the pups amble out of the cave, some giving little cries of excitment as they bounded forward while others shied away, looking as if they wanted nothing more than to flee back to the safety of their mother's side. A shiver of something ran through her, threatened to close up her throat and make breathing impossible. Excitment, anxiety? Fear? Or a combination of all three? The feeling was leaving her breathless as she tried her best not to stare at any of the pups for too long. Some of them were scared enough as it was. They didn't need another expetant pair of eyes staring at them full on for more than five seconds. Even as the thought drifted through her brain, she couldn't help herself as she clentched her fists tighter at her sides her gaze drawn to the last pups to exit the cave.
They were both so beautiful, not to say all the pups weren't but these...they caught her eye like none of the others had. Though even as her attention lingered on them both, it was soon only caught on the last one. The shy one, the poor little one that seemed so terrified of facing the line of recruits. Her heart jumped with each hesitant exploration of her mind and she forced her mind blank, forcing the wandering shaky thoughts from her mind. She was to keep her mind blank, blissfully blank. Wasn't that what her brother had told her over and over the last time he'd visited? Blissfully blank with no stray thoughts that might possibly sway or scare the pups away. A shuddering breath slipped from her lips and Cassadaine forced her gaze away from the pups instead focusing on the wall of the cave, but even that action didn't stop her eyes from occasionally drifting back to the shy little black male with the white tail and paws...
A silent shadow drifted among the trees, an occasional flicker of light highlighting the blond hair and bloodied tips. The occasional flicker of light catching in the man's mismatched eyes making them gleam. Alister's unwavering gaze drifted only from the pups and recruits for a moment as he settled himself just inside the tree line, back against a tree. A brief glimpse of red, and an even barer flicker of orange and white. Calla and WoodWhisp. Tilting his head to one side, eyes half lidded, Alister settled his gaze on the multi-hued balls of fluff and the recruits. A small bemused smile crossed his face as his thoughts drifted back to his own Bonding. One of the last recruits standing, a bit disappointed about being left at the end and possibly never going to be picked and then a rather forceful intrusion by a rather demanding looking little black female. A little black femme that shared the same green hued eye as him. A 'wolf's eye' she'd called it. A soft amused drifted from his throat. That was years ago, and now he would have the pleasure of watching these poor little recruits go through the same scrutiny. It was only fair really.
There was a brief flick of Twilight's tail, her pricked up and forward, gleaming gold and green eyes fixed on the line of recruits and the pups...her pups. The thought brought a tired but joyous smile to her maw and her head lifted an inch. She'd spent so long curled in this cave caring for the little balls of fluff. It was worth it though, even after the initial shock and helpless amusement as her rider raged, it was all worth it. Though, she couldn't exactly say she'd taken care of the pups all on her own. WoodWhisp had helped, had had to get practically dragged away at times. Everything for this moment, the pups would find their bonded, and would be gone from underfoot. A disheartening thought but one that brought a stirring of pride also. A bitter sweet parting then.

The first bold male continued to pace through the recruits, taking his time to taunt the humans before him. He reached forward and sniffed Amber, before turning away and moving onto the next human.
Like her brother, the black female walked confidently down the first row of recruits. As soon as she had emerged from the cave, she had felt something touch her mind - a strange and foreign feeling, but a fated connection nonetheless. She knew it was here, close, and she mildly glanced the surface of each human's mind. But they weren't the ones she was looking for, not the ones that would satisfy this empty space that had opened up in her mind. Finally in front of Jashua*, the black female turned orange eyes towards the girl, and the sense of belonging filled her very being. With an enthusiastic yip, the pup bounded forward and reached into Jashua's mind, the unfamiliar yet at the same time familiar connection that slowly merged itself into the young wolf's being.
Meanwhile the white female, unsteady, noticed the approach of WoodWhisp - finally a safe and familiar sight. She yowled softly, confused in the midst of all the strange sensations in her mind and waiting for some form of reassurance from the male who had raised her.
And as his shield ran off, the black and white-tailed young male whimpered quietly as he looked around at the intimidating figures of the recruits. The sudden sense of missing that filled his mind a few short hours ago was still there, increasing his uncertainty as he looked from his siblings to Nightwing. Then he also spotted the familiar form of WoodWhisp, crying out softly as he waited for a comfort that did not come. So he reached out with his mind, a strange feeling, and touched upon something warm - it was calling to him. Confused, he stumbled forward with silent whimpers as he searched for the familiar unknown, making his way hesitatantly through the forest of legs. Finally, he could feel her near - her own attempts to hide her mind futile. The little black and white pup touched Cassadaine's* mind and could see, feel every intimate moment and memory the girl had ever experienced, and suddenly felt at home. With a relieved cry, he scrambled forward to bury his nose between her feet.
The second male, black touched with a snowy white, continued to glance around with curiousity. He watched as his shy brother ran towards a particular recruit, a enthusiastic cry erupting from his small throat at the bonding. Then his eyes settled on the girl standing in front of Cassadaine...

Jash watched as the confident female scanned the rows, watched as she hesitated, and as she felt the stronger probing of her mind, fell to her knees. Her mind was sketchy and fuzzy, despite her efforts to keep it clear for the little wolf. Her eye’s blurred as the pup came bounding over to her, so it almost looked like she left a trail of fire in her path. That feeling of confidence and assurance that flooded her felt so familiar… “Loche…” She whispered, reaching out to the little wolf. Her words snapped her back to the reality, back to this moment with her bonded. No. Not Loche, HER Bonded. She, Jashua Aldon, had succeeded. She wouldn’t have to go home to her parents or scrape out a living in the City! With more confidence she held her hand out to her Bonded, a smile on her face and tears streaming from her eyes. The blurred image of the little pup bounding towards her was burned into her mind and she focused on that to compose her mind. Part of her couldn’t help but think that Loche would be so jealous that she had Bonded to such a beautiful, confident pup. He would laugh at the fact that when she first felt it she thought it was him. But she didn’t care, joy was replacing the adrenaline coursing through her veins, she almost felt a little tired now actually. She pulled her hand away from the letter in her pocket and held both hands out comfortingly to the little pup. “No. Not Loche. FlameWake, my little FlameWake.” The name slipped from her lips as she stared into the pups orange eyes, the blurred image flitting through her mind again. Yes, she liked the name, it fit her confident little Bonded rather well. FlameWake.
WoodWhisp trotted over towards Twilight and sat down beside her, draping his tail over the exhausted mother. “It’s kinda saddening to see them go isn’t it? After all this time.” WoodWhisp whispered, glancing down at Twilight before retuning his gaze to the pups. He smiled comfortingly as two of them found their Bonded. Those two Recruits had better be good to his Pups, WoodWhisp didn’t get angry, but when he did it was not something you wanted to see. He had even brushed a raving Alister off with a laugh when they told him Twilight was going to have pups, HIS pups at that. But if anyone ever hurt these little ones, human or centipede, he would personally shred them to pieces. Unless Twilight got to them first, she was just as protective of the pups as he was, if not more so. WoodWhisp smiled as the little white female looked to him for assistance. WoodWhisp didn’t say a word, but gave her just a gentle nudge, just a slight reassurance. “Reminds me how confused I was when I found Calla. I was still half asleep as I stumbled out of the cave.” WoodWhisp chuckled as he watched the confused pups examine the recruits with a mixture of fear, curiosity, and longing. So small and innocent, he almost regretted placing them into the harsh world of the WolfRiders.
Pulling herself from her reverie Calla spotted a certain blond rider not far from her. Moving back into the trees she crept silently towards his location. Slow, silent, she came up behind him with a smile. “Still bent on skinning Whisp alive?” she whispered as she came up behind him. A smirk on her face as she settled herself against a tree beside him, browns eyes watching the pups with keen interest. She laughed to herself as WoodWhisp shared with her the memory of him stumbling groggily out of the cave and staring up at Calla in confusion. “WoodWhisp was such a silly pup.” She stated, her tone calm, conversational, very different from how most of her conversations with Alister went. “Not that that ever changed.” She added sarcastically. Ignoring the glare WoodWhisp gave her from across the clearing. “Speaking of which. Wouldn’t we have Bonded around the same time?” Calla asked, glancing briefly at Alister before turning back to the pups as two of them found their Bonded, and another turning to WoodWhisp for reassurance.
