Yes, the much anticipated final match-up of the Cards and the Steels is in only a few days, but lets not forget about the Pro-Bowl, only one week after. Here is the link to the roster. http://www.nfl.com/probowl/story?id=09000d5d80d60467&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true The teams consist of the best players in the league from such great teams like Arizona, Minnesota, New York Giants, Washington, Carolina, Tampa, New Orleans, Atlanta, Green Bay, Philly, Dallas, Seattle, and San Francisco For the NFC. The AFC team consists of players from Indianapolis, New York Jets, Baltimore, Houston, Denver, Kansas City, Cleveland, Buffalo, San Diego, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Miami, Oakland, New England, and Denver.

Discuss. Did a player from your favorite team make it? What position are they playing?

Several players from my favorite team (Carolina, duh) made it. Steve Smith is a reserve WR, Jordan Gross is a starting T, Julius Peppers is a starting DE, and Jon Beason is a reserve IL.

two players from my team (philadelphia) made it. But I still am not going to watch it. It is nothing but a glorified scrimmage game. I believe that if they wanted people to watch the game, they should implement something like Baseball. The AFC/NFC winner will be considered the home team. That would really be something special considering how many "cinderella" teams have been getting up there lately.

Best players my a**. More like a popularity contest. I mean Kerry Collins? He may be a winner, but his stats aren't really that good. I would go with Rivers.
Calvin Johnson got snubbed for playing with the 0-16 Lions. I would go Aaron Rodgers over Eli Manning. The defense failed him, but he's a much better passer than Manning.
John Abraham maybe. Third in the league with sacks. More than Allen and Peppers.
Deangelo Williams. 18 TDs, third in the league in rushing yards. Although most of those TDs were during the final stretch.

They need to do voting through the whole year and not just 'til week 12 or 14 or whatever they do it to.

Pro Bowl is meaningless.

Pointless as the game is played on a neutral site, usually. I mean a Super Bowl in Miami with the Dolphins going to the Super Bowl is like a home game for the Dolphins. Haha. So, your logic doesn't work because if the NFC won, then... It wouldn't matter. The Dolphins call the coin toss. xD I guess as the home team, you get to pick which Jersey you want to wear. Lol.

Anyway, home team alternates with the AFC on odd years and NFC on the evens. This year, the Cards are the home team... in TAMPA! ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY! Lol.

That are some of the things going on the docket for when the league and the owners get together during the offseason. As for the players, I whole heartedly agree with you. But with Brian Dawkins being nominated, that kind of floored me. I did not see that coming. He obviously did play better than any of the glorified FS's in the NFC, but he is not the most popular outside of the Eagles.

Well, I do wish that the third best RB in the league (by stats) could have at least made reserve. D deserves it more than those other guys.

I'm happy that Eli Manning made his first Pro Bowl this season. He really deserved it after a good season, and also his Super Bowl XLII win and MVP. A few other players on the Giants are going.

...and the NFC is stacked at RB. Brandon Jacobs and DeAngello Williams should have also made it, but I guess you can only have three.

I guess you can't have it all. Or can you?

Well, I think the NFL is killing the current Pro Bowl tradition. After this year, the Pro Bowl will be played in the bye week before the Super Bowl, and it won't be in Hawaii anymore.

...I think this is a bad move.

Exactly. What if your best player gets hurt when he has to be in the Super Bowl next week?

Well that's one controversial point. Coaches probably won't even let their selected players to participate in the Pro Bowl, in order to focus and stay healthy for the Super Bowl.

Why not just leave it how it is? That makes more sense to me.

I might go to watch the Pro-Bowl someday. Make a vacation-football game combo.
