~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Chehero looked slowly about the large walls surrounded by varrious weeds and grass, not far in front of her was a memory not to long cast aside. Bringing her hands up to fix the stray hair of her pony tail Chehero's eye's fluttered to the other side, houses intermingled some she found familiar some she couldn't remember being there. "Its been so long..." A dark shadow seemed to hover over her, darkening her mood further.

Feathermist flicked her tail from right to left as she looked over at Chehero cautiously, her mind searching Chehero's for any insight as to her bonds sudden mood change. It wasn't long before she stumbled upon a sad memory of her mother. Turning her head she playfully nudged Chehero in the shoulder, jumping in front of her.

Chehero stumbled at the nudge having been caught off gaurd and smiled as she carefully watched feathermist who didn't like this sudden feeling, ever since she had met Chehero a few days ago Chehero had been bright and eager to come and meet her patron.

Bending her front legs and letting her tong loll out Feathermist kept her rump in the air with her tail wagging from side to side in a simple play bow. Letting out a play with me bark Feathermist stretched out her right paw her tail moving so hard and so fast she couldn't help but let her rump wiggle with her tail.

"Your such a goof, Feathermist!" Chehero lept forward having successfully been goaded into a small game of catch me. Only to land face first in the ground as Feathermist swerved out of the way. Looking to the side as she pulled herself off the ground she couldn't help but burst into laughter. Feathermist was laying on her back, her two front paws were tucked right up against her body her tail still moving frantically from side to side. Sea blue eyes starring at her, Chehero walked over to Feathermist reaching out she attempted to give Feathermist a belly rub.

Rolling over onto her belly and letting her ears fold back, Feathermist proceeded to gently press her head into Chehero's upper body. Pleased to have the top of her neck scratched, as well as a spot under her chin. She and Chehero were here to meet the patron, a wolf and rider who would train them both in the ways of the wolfriders. She wondered what they would look like, picturing the form of the scary old man who had brought all the candidates to her. Letting out a soft whine she pressed against Chehero a little more sending her feelings to her.

Looking down at her wolf she couldn't help but feel the same thing, would her patron be like her horrifying drill instructor? What if she was supposed to be that way as a rider? "I know I am worried about this too."

Stroking under Feathermists maw Chehero found the whole bond a little strange, she couldn't help but wonder how long it would take before this all became normal to her with another beings thoughts in her head. Nuzzling her face into Feathermists fur Chehero's thoughts trailed off in another direction, weren't wolves able to speak the human language? At least that was what she had been told but for some reason Feathermist wasn't speaking. It wasn't long before she stumbled upon the conclusion that Feathermist must be like a child, and would have to learn to speak.

"Oh, this is going to be F-U-N Feathershroud." Nearly falling off of her Wolf's back as she moved her body in an excited wriggle, Vala adjusted herself with a squeak, maybe it hadn't been a good idea to ride bareback after all. /I told you to put my harness on! Now I have to walk slowly and worry about you falling off!/ "Oh hush, Hush Feather! I'm fine, and anyways, the harness would only add weight an--" /Put. On. My. Harness./ "Fine! Wolflords you're so pushy today." Sliding to the ground as her red Wolf glared at her over her shoulder, Vala slid the harness she had strapped to her back off and let it fall to the ground before sorting out all of the straps. Practice had made the process of tacking her wolf up take a matter of moments, having memorized exactly how tight to pull each strap to fit snugly on Feathershroud. "Better Grumpyfur?" /Yes. Now get on./

--- Now able to go at a faster pace, the Gamma sped up to a steady lope, not having to worry about her clumsy rider falling off anymore. Today was the first official meeting with their Apprentices, and Feathershroud did not want to put on a bad first appearance. She had even made her Mine clean and polish her golden broach, the feathers swaying in the wind as they continued on their trek to the front gates of the Fort. To tell the truth, Feathershroud had been surprised when the Captain allowed Vala to be a Patron, her Human being well known for her excited disposition. /Now, I want you to be as careful as you can, try not to trip Mine./ "You're acting like my mother Feather... hey, you know what would be fun?" Anything her Rider thought would be fun, usually ended up in a situation the wolf didn't exactly want to be in. /No Vala, what?/ "If we acted all tough and mean, and then revealed that we weren't!" /Devious, I'm sure. Fine, we'll play your game, but look sharp, we're getting close./ ---

Sitting up straight and dropping the grin from her face, Vala slowly swept her violet eyes across the two younger females, as if she was sizing them up. As they drew up next to the Girl and her Adolescent the Private, stitched her brow together in an unamused glance before speaking. "So this is the next generation of Wolfriders. Not much to look at I'd say." Flicking her bangs out of her face, Vala smirked as her female growled in agreement, while on the inside the human felt like doubling over and laughing. Oh if only this girl knew how good she got it by getting paired up with them! "Well stand up straight and let me look at you." Sliding down from her perch, Vala dusted her shirt off rather vainly before coming to stand in front of the girl, only topping her height by a mere three inches.

"So I am assuming you are our new transfer Chehero Asakaur, and that is Feathermist." Directing a stern gaze at the young Adolescent, Vala felt her own wolf draw closer to watch the newbie's reactions. "I am Vala Arrie, and this is my Partner, Feathershroud." She paused to motion backward in the general direction of her Female. "You will call me Patron or Sir. There is going to be absolutely no horseplay, and expect to be worked long and hard Apprentice. Do I make myself perfectly clear, Pup?"

Pulling her face quickly out of Feathermists fur Chehero quickly sized up her patron, raising her hand to her head and clicking her boots at attention. Wouldn't it be more proper to say ma-am instead of sir? She thought more to Feather mist than herself. Figuring she better not make a mistake and disgrace her wolf Chehero gulped before responding. "Y-yes sir, Chehero Asakuar and Feathermist. Reporting in attendance to our patron. Sir." Chehero winced at the word pup but made no move to correct her patron. She however did manage to find it odd she was given to a female patron and a female wolf, but then again maybe they were tougher than Adrian had been during their drills.

Feathermist's blue eyes scanned the scarlet wolf, ears folded completely back against her head. A terrified whine barely audible to anyone unless they were within a few feet from her. Feathermist tucked her tail in and lowered her head, glancing at Chehero with confusion who was unable to resist the pull to comfort the three month old wolf. Not only was she scared they were just like the beta Nightwing and his scary old rider, Feathermist was hungry.

Uttering a silent apology Chehero quickly turned to Feathermist, no one should scare a newly emerged wolf. Didn't matter who they were, patron or not her wolf came first. Bringing shaking hands to to Feathermist's head and gently stroking her side Chehero whispered quietly, "It will be ok Feathermist, I wont let them hurt you, and we can get you something to eat soon alright." Chehero could feel the nagging pull of hunger as she looked back at her patron. "Please forgive my rudeness, sir. But I'm afraid Feathermist needs to eat."

Vala had to really work to keep a straight face, her lungs were burning with unvoiced laughter, her ploy was working beautifully. Eyeing her apprentice as she comforted her little one, the Private bit the inside of her lip, but as the third sir came out the black haired woman couldn't hold it in any longer. Pressing a hand to her mouth, Vala near doubled over in silent laughter, her demeanor changing in an instant. It took a few moments to recover her posture, but when she did, the older Rider hooked her thumbs on the edges of her trouser pockets. "I'm sorry. I really am, I have this thing for theatrics, and you two were so tempting." Smiling as she let her eyes coast back onto the adolescent, Vala slowly sank into a crouch. "We're good guys, not like that mean ol' Nightwing and Sergeant Black, we like little pups."

--- Flicking her ears forward and letting her tail hang behind her, Feathershroud inched forward, lowering her head slightly so she could inspect the young one better. /Yes little one, do not be afraid. We shall get you something to eat. I can hear your tummy rumbling./ Sitting back on her haunches, the Burgundy Female began to scratch at an itch that was bothering her, becoming quite oblivious to her Human and the others. ---

On her feet again, Vala turned back to the girl with a half smile. "Actually, I'm pretty lax in comparison to those two. And you can call me Vala... unless you really want to call me Miss. Though I called my Patron by their first name so its only fair that I let you." Pausing, the Rider continued. "Well lets get your little one something to eat, the FirstOne only knows how hungry Feathershroud was when she was so young. And on the way, I can fill you in on who I actually am."

Turning an about face, the young woman beckoned for Chehero to follow, hardly giving the girl any time to respond to her comments. "Come along Apprentice." Hesitating a moment to let the other female pair catch up, Vala continued. "First things first, well technically second since we're going to eat first, have you been assigned a Room yet? And if you have, have you visited it yet?"

-- Rocking to her paws as she noticed her Human was swaggering off without notice, Feathershroud stretched before padding after her, her long legged strides let her catch up in no time at all. /Must you always do that?/ What? Leave without telling you? /Yes!/ Well you're the one who can look in my mind! You should be able to interperate my thoughts. /You are so annoying./ I know. Huffing, the Gamma slowed her pace when Vala did, flanking the two humans and he youngling. She'd let Chehero deal with Vala for a while, that is if she could even get a word in. ---

Stunned into silence at the laughter confusion only seemed to roll back and forth between Feathermist and Chehero. Opening and closing her mouth several times in an attempt to get a word in, Chehero eventually subsided her thoughts and waited patiently her turn to talk. A little irritated at the fact she was once again called a pup Chehero figured best let that be. Shocked as Vala continued to talk she glanced over to the scarlet wolf then back to her own small one.

Feathermist's ears darted forward in a split second at the mention of food and the comforting voice of the older female wolf. Laxing her tail she rose her head to look fully at Chehero, letting her tongue grace the left size of her nose. Greated with a warm hand from Chehero, Feathermist nudged her bound in an exited moment forcing her to walk after Vala. Her tail moving in a wag as she glanced back at the other wolf. If this one was friendly, maybe she would be able to goad her into a game.

Pacing after her patron Chehero finally found a pause in Vala's speech and cut in. "No Vala, Feathermist and I have only just arrived moments before you came to get us." She wasn't aware of her room assignment let alone where it was. But in this case all Chehero could do was wait and hope her room wasn't going to be positioned in the middle of town. She liked the outdoors, the sight of the trees the sky, she didn't want that to be all blocked up by other houses. Placing her hand carefully on Feathermist's back the pair walked after Vala, only vaguely aware of the other wolf's presence behind them.

"You haven't? Oh, well then we'll just have to show you to your rooms and to the seamstress won't we? I assume then, you haven't been issued your Uniform." Slowing her pace so that she ended up walking beside her pupil, Vala clasped her hands behind her back. "As for our Uniforms, White Shadow wears White and Black, while New Eve Officers wear Red an Black. Rather suiting the colors though I suppose..." Trailing off, the Private gently shook her head before continuing on. "You'll also be getting your rank pin which your Patron... oh, wait that’s me! I have your Apprentice pin, which I'll give you as soon as we get you into your new uniform." /You sure are talking a lot Mine./ You know I talk a lot when I'm excited. Oh this is going to be so fun! She'll be like the little sister I never had, yet she has to do everything I say... /Uh-huh./ "So anyways, you'll be living at White Shadow now! If you weren't aware of that before, though as to where they're going to put you, we won't know until we get there!"

Halting their party as they reached the perimeter Gates, Vala glanced up at the wall and whistled to get the attention of the gatekeepers inside. "Oi! Let us in will yah? Just 'cause its winter doesn't mean you should be slackin off!" Bouncing on her heels, the Private smiled as the gates opened, allowing them access but it also signaled the beginning of another tangent. "Normally, movement between Forts, the Academy and the town is pretty much forbidden without good cause. But since it's Winter, the Centipedes won't attack because of the cold, allowing free movement to the three different areas." Waving to the Gatekeepers as she passed through the entrance, Vala eyed the guards, making sure they waited for the rest of her group to come through before starting to close the door.

"Any questions so far, kid?"

--- Boy was her Human talkative today, she had to be really excited about taking on the two young ones, if Vala didn't drive the two away by chattering their ears off of course. Letting out a sigh through her nose, Feathershroud glanced down at the tan pup, red optics flitting over every detail. It was odd to find a young wolf so gussied up with items and knick-knacks, it struck the older wolf as odd. Feathershroud had earned her golden Broach for her valor in battle, which had been given to her by her Human on the third cycle since her birth, Vala had said it had taken a long time to collect enough money for. Flicking one of her ears to the side as her younger counterpart looked back at her, Shroud yawned and tilted her head to the side. Younglings were so very inquisitive. --

Feeling more comfortable around the older pair Feathermist glanced back towards the older wolf, spinning with an almost hop she faced Feathershroud. She let out a playful bark once again letting her front half of her body bend low to the ground while her hind half remained in the air. Her tail swung heavily from side to side as she let out another bark, charging forward with her ears half bent she mock lunged at Feathershroud performing the bow once again.

Chehero only shook her head at the questions Vala was asking her, obviously she didn't have any uniform. Seeing as she only wore her recruit one, and she had nothing on her back but an empty bag where the food for her and Feathermist had been. She didn't happen to have any questions when she was asked, after all they had covered this all in the academy and she was there for seven years how could she not know? Smiling with pleasure that she wasn't going to be paired with a patron like her drill sergeant back at the academy. Along with the pleasure, of her patron Vala talking. Chehero wasn't much for speaking being as shy as she was, so she found it nice that someone else was talking filling what would be the silence of the growing night.

The few barks that came from Feathermist put Chehero into a defensive stance, spinning on her heals to look back at the young wolf. Smiling with a laugh at the playfulness Feathermist exerted, at least by the end of the day they would both sleep well. Following the items she had placed in her small wolf she smiled. Most of the items had belonged to her mothers wolf she had received them when her mother passed away. Much like her brother had received the items from his fathers wolf it was tradition for them to wear these. That and she found them rather complimenting to her wonderful wolf. Eyes darted back at the gatekeepers wondering what they would do if an attack happened on the fort. Her classes had never covered such material as this. Turning back she moved to keep up with the black haired female, she was right first things first Feathermist had to be fed.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 25, 2009 10:32 pm

Casting a glance behind her as Chehero spun around, Vala switched her attention back onto the road in front of her. "You sure are jumpy. Then again so was I after I was freed from Adrian's grasp. I mean, that man is crazy... Did he have his batty Beta chase after you? Man that wolf was scary!" The Drill Sergeant's wolf had actually nipped her on the butt when she was a Recruit, and that wasn't something someone would forget lightly. Yawning as they reached the first building, Vala stopped in front of the door before waving her hand slightly. "Stay here. I'll get all of the paperwork that you and I need, um... it'll take a few moments so... just sit down or something. Don't wonder off, cause you don't wanta get questioned as to why a recruit is in an off limit area!" Pushing the door open, Vala disappeared into the room beyond, letting the door slam behind her.

--- Stopping in her tracks as the little one lunged at her, Feathershroud pricked her ears forward, eyeing the pup with interest. Was this what she would have to deal with everyday for the next year and a snow season? Placing her paw onto the ground, the larger female crouched before releasing her muscles and leaping over the little one in an easy bound. Hitting the ground, Feathershround used her momentum to trot forward, her tail swishing happily behind her. Children were cute little things, always wanting to play, and so very active... like her Human. But Vala was an adult, who needed to buckle down a little more than she already has. ---

"Hey don't look at me! I didn't do it, so... whoa!" Streaking out the door and shutting it just in time to avoid whatever hit the inside of the door, Vala leaned up against the wall clutching at the strap of her pack. "Well... um... I've got the paperwork, now I suppose we all can go eat. Since your Wolf is young, we'll get meat from the mess hall for the time being." Pushing off against the wall, the Private dug through her bag and pulled out a dark navy colored folder before swinging her pack onto her back. The folder itself was non-descript, but it could be identified by the name scrawled on the tab jutting out from the side; it was a copy of Chehero's personal file. Cracking it open, Vala scanned the front page as they walked, leading the group toward the kitchens subconsciously. "Chehero Asakaur, nineteen. Father and Mother... oh... Right. One Brother, older. No big penalties on permanent record, to bad, that would have been interesting. Talking back isn't a very good one... been at the academy for seven years. Well well! Beat me by a year, kinda... Hey wait, that means we where at the Academy at the same time. Funny, I don't remember you. I suppose being three years your senior in Wolfrider training kept you out of my sight."

Trailing off as she flipped the page, Vala buried her nose in the file, clearly interested in what her Apprentice's Academy papers had to say.

Following Vala seemed to be not to much of a challenge, her story about Nightwing seemed to spark a small interest in her. "Yes, he had Nightwing chase us like centipedes around the cliff side by the academy." She didn't like that memory, she had started off doing rather well compared to most of the recruits but unfortunately was basically the last to finish out of those who had managed to finish that was. Finding herself cut off by Vala as they reached the tall building Chehero nodded and remained where she was by the door. She really didn't want to get into trouble after her fist day back at the fort after years of training. Kicking a stone laying on the ground by her foot she began whistling her eyes drifting about the familiar scenery. It took quite a bit for her to remain standing by the door waiting for her patron to emerge with the promised paper work. Wincing as the door slammed behind Vala, her eyes found her small wolf Chehero couldn't help but let a smile play across her face. Feathermist was the best thing that had happened to her, so far.

Feathermist's ears fell back as she ducked her head, managing to just barely keep her eyes focused on Feathershroud as she lept over her head. Twisting her body she re-organized herself and bolted after the larger wolf letting out another bark as she ran to keep up with her. Ears perking up again as she caught sight of her bound. Folding her ears back once again she rushed forward only to stop short as Vala burst from the building. Confused she carefully trotted up to Chehero while keeping her eyes on Vala, her tail falling lax behind her, while both her ears seemed to be focused and listening to what was happening around her.

Startled and jumping forward Chehero looked over as Vala rushed out of the doors, eye's flashing at the door as a crash was heard. "What was thrown at you?" She was quickly distracted by Vala's comment about meat from the mess hall and quickly agreed, besides they could always get the paper work done while Feathermist was eating. Her eyes were focused on the file in her patrons hand, listening to the words that came from her. "That is true being three years ahead of me you would have been kept in a separate part of the building, could be because they don't want the younger ones accidentally bonding with a young wolf. I mean they do have order there and they do everything they can to make sure there are no accidents." Chehero wasn't quite sure what Vala was reading at this point and carefully running her hand along Feathermist's back they both followed quietly behind.

"Hmmm?" Looking up from the Girl's file with her pen dangling from her mouth like a cigar, Vala blinked in confusion, having not paid attention to the last part of what her Apprentice had said. "Thrown? Oh yes, twas a pot with a rather pretty plant in it. Tis a pity to see... hear it destroyed. I didn't even deserve it! I mean, I wasn't the one who put the mice in her bed." Turning her face so the wicked smile that appeared could be hidden, the Private held back the laughter that welled up. It was true /she/ didn't place the mice in the bed, but she was the one to capture the mice in the first place.

"Anyways, back to what you had said before, about the Wolves and the play performance of Centipedes... That must have sucked. Did he make you run around barefoot? I hated training barefoot in the winter, though I suppose if I had stopped screwing up every once in a while, I might not have had to." Another monstrous grin appeared, but this time, out in the open. "Ohoh... Were there other instructors there as well? Only Adrian would think to make it extra frightening by using more than his own wolf." Snapping the folder closed and replacing it in her bag, Vala continued. "I swear its torture! The only reason he gets away with it is because he's from New Eve and Damien White is the General Captain! Now if the General Captain was our Captain, the students wouldn't be close to dying by the time they ended their daily classes." Using her words as an excuse, the young Private winced as her leg began to burn, steeling her nerves and trying to concentrate on anything but the pain.

--- Pacing forward, Feathershroud left Vala's side and started up the road at her own pace, knowing the Mess hall was close by. She wanted to see that her little one got to the food first before leaving the group to kill her own meal, she hadn't eaten for quite a long time, and healing was sucking up her strength. Pausing for a moment to inspect the white bandage that had been applied to her leg, the female grunted before casting a glance back down the road, her numbing stuff was wearing off. But it was Vala who she was more worried about, the girl's medications must have worn off completely by now. Feathershroud softened her gaze slightly, her Mine must be doing all she could to walk normally, when by now she would have been limping. Both of them had gotten injured in the last battle with the Centipedes, although Vala had gotten the brunt of the blow. The gash to the Rider's leg was considerably bigger than her own, and as far as she could tell, far more painful.

Letting her tail wag slightly, Feathershroud loped forward, reaching the Mess hall and scaring an unsuspecting Staff member. She would wait here for the three to arrive, knowing that Vala was going to take her time after having picked her brain for the information. Her human knew it was a little selfish to set such a slow pace, but any faster or slower, and she'd loose her concentration and begin to limp once more. The Gamma also found out, that despite how cheery Vala looked, her Rider was incredibly nervous about what Chehero thought of her. She didn't want to appear weak in front of the girl. ---

Raising an eyebrow in curiosity towards her patron Chehero found her rather odd. She had caught and played with, even cured stray mice she found running about freely outside. But she had never been able to summon enough courage to stick the poor animal in someones bed. Missing the smile on her patrons face Chehero slowly lost her focus on where she was going, her mind swimming into images her mind portrayed. The small tree they had passed was a familiar one, she loved hanging out up in the hidden branches. Watching the privates and their wolves pass by when she was much younger. Shaking her head back into focus she looked at the back of Vala's head, only just noting that her patron had slowed. She didn't mind this so much in fact she was secretly pleased about the slowed pace. This gave her a chance to be outside longer, and that she love more than anything.

"Yes the new sergeant maybe you know her, umm whats her name again... oh darnit." Chehero paused for a moment trying to remember the trigger happy woman. She wasn't very fond of her after all it was she who had shot a hole through her pair of boots. "Beth... no... Kate... no, no it was something like Alex, ALICE!" Chehero shouted finally coming upon the correct name for the insane female. Nodding her head as she looked up at the semi-clouded sky, she thought that it would be better to have a diffrent instructor than Adrian to teach class. After all his ways were just far to harsh for he liking, he should really take notice that physically a female no matter how butch would not be able to keep up. It just wasn't physically possible. "And the boots he shouldn't make students throw their boots away in that kind of terrain, it's just not meant for running about barefoot like the fort is."

The unfamiliar flash of scarlet caught Chehero's eye and she watched as Feathershroud walked ahead of them. Her eyes catching the for the first time the bandage that had been wrapped around the tall wolf's leg. Eye's once again dancing of towards Vala as she placed the folder in her bag, still curious to the contents that would be written on the meaningless pages of white. Her stomach acking with hunger, though she shouldn't be hungry it must have been a repercussion of the young wolf's own need to be fed.

Feathermist huffed as the older wolf bounded ahead of her, curious as to where she was going and guided by the sent of fresh meat Feathermist followed after. Knowing Chehero wouldn't mind much if she tagged along with the other wolf but still within her sight, Feathermist didn't take long to catch up. Bending pivoting her ears to either side, her head started bobbing with the graceful scent of food. Letting her tongue run along the right side of her upper lip she turned to Chehero with eagerness and barked wanting her to hurry up. Pausing for a moment trying to contain her excitement she couldn't any long and raced to Chehero and back to the building, barking once again.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 30, 2009 5:43 pm

"O'conner? I remember her from recruit days... interesting girl she was. Rather boyish. I wasn't boyish when I was a recruit, well... I wore pants when I was training. And I was one of the fastest runners in the Academy... And I played pranks and wore a guy's uniform a lot." She paused. "Never mind. I was pretty much a tomboy." Looking up as they neared Feathershroud and a very excited Feathermist, Vala gratefully took hold of the Burgundy coat as soon as they arrived, taking some pressure off of her leg. "Round to the back!" Walking beside her bonded, the new Patron lead the group around to the back of the mess hall, stopping them before a non-descript grey door. Rapping on the door with the back of her hand, the Private yawned as the door opened inward, revealing a portly fellow with a grin and a white apron. "Yo Cookie! Guess what? I'm a Patron! Isn't that mind boggling? But anyways, I'm in sore need of a nice hunk of meat for the little pup, she's hungry. Oh, that’s Chehero by the way, she's my apprentice."

"Well, well! I never thought they'd 'ave given you a teachin' post, little Lamb. But it's nice they be givin' ye a chance, even though ye be a bit loony. Just don't run yer Apprentice nutters now, we don't need another little loony lamb running about. Lemme gicha that meat for ye. Nice to meetcha little miss!"

Watching as the cook closed the door Vala turned around so that she could lean against the wall. "That was Cookie. Well that’s my nickname for him, he's a sweetie. I was always scrounging for food when I was an Apprentice." Pushing off of the wall with a smile, Vala lead the young woman and their Wolves over to a close by tree, before sitting down. Extremely grateful that she could take her weight off of her leg. "Now about that paperwork. Its really mostly for me to look over, record and sign... but there are a few things you need to sign." Retreating a pencil from her pack, Vala presented it and a clipboard with papers attached to it to her apprentice. "Ready to sign away your soul to White Shadow while we wait for Cookie to get the meat?"

--- When the door opened to the food place, the many smells that the place held wafted over her sensitive nose, most of them making her maw salivate. The male human that gave her meat when she was younger gave her a wave, and in return she wagged her tail, Feathershroud approved of the man. She would wait with the little one until the food provider re-appeared with the meat, for she wasn't about to miss an opportunity to begin teaching Feathermist.

Moments after Vala had retreated to the tree, the human male returned with the meat portion, leaving it on the step with a grin before disappearing back into the kitchen. Quickly stepping forward to lift the meat chunk from the ground, the older wolf lifted her head before motioning to the side. Trotting to an open section between the tree and the building, Feathershroud dropped the meat in the middle of the open space. Reverting back to Wolven, the older female barked at the pup before crouching slightly, using her body and vocals to speak with the youngling. Twitching her tail as she focused on the meat, Feathershroud pulled back her gums with a growl, leaping onto the meat and placing her teeth on the muscle, shaking it gently. Removing her jowls from Feathermist's food without removing any, Feathershroud barked again before backing up, wanting the adolescent to copy her but actually eat the food after 'killing' it. ---

Earnestly watching the plump oddly dressed man Chehero knew all to well how kind the man could get. But then again she had always played tricks on him, seemed like that was all in the past with him in the end. Smiling a grateful nod at the cook's words she turned and followed Vala away to sit under one of the trees. Her eyes drifting back and forth between Vala and her own little pup. Her attention was drawn back in when a clipboard and the word soul popped into the present. "My soul, hah, no one owns the wind. Thus no one can truly own me." Carefully taking the pencil and clipboard Chehero scrunched her eyebrows together. "Well I take that back, Feathermist owns me." Casting that aside she scrawled her name accross the paper on the clipboard.

Stepping back as the cook emerged with the promised meat, Feathermist watched him carefully. Rather happy that he had placed it on the ground and just as she was about to rush forward and eat, Feathershroud picked it up. Irritated she watched the older wolf pick it up and pace off part way towards their riders. Lowering her tail she watched as Feathershroud performed the dance of death, lifting and setting her tail down with impatient movements. It was hard, to keep herself from springing forward to take the meat from the other wolf but she managed. Waiting for the right moment she sprung forward with a loud bark. Raising her head she pranced forward, her ears held strait in front of her tail only mid way raised. This was easy to do, Chehero had been teaching her to 'kill' her food since they had met.

Lowering her body to the ground she watched the meat trying to imagine it moving, alive. Waiting for the right moment she mimicked Shroud, barking before letting out a threatening grow, rose from her she tore the meat almost in half. Proud of her achievement Feathermist carried the meat towards Chehero walking around both the humans in a I-Win Sort of way. Watching Feathershroud carefully as if fearful the older wolf would come to remove the meat, or worse eat it. Feathermist took that pause and dove into the meat, she didn't like shaking it because that would force to much of the beloved moist part out before she would have a chance to devour.

Chehero jumped instantly to her feet at the sound of Feathermist and Feathershrouds bark. Still not used to the sound of wolves playing Chehero apologized to Vala before handing back the clipboard and laughing at herself. She must have looked so completely stupid to her new patron, but that was who she was, Feathermist would come first. Lowering herself to the ground she couldn't help but partly smile, Feathermist was walking around like she had just outsmarted the other wolf and started munching on the food. Wincing at the smell that arose from the meat Chehero figured it must have had added nutrients to help the small wolf as she grew. "Vala, Feathershroud will teach her to hunt and feed herself right?" She listened for Vala to speak before asking another question. "What will my place look like? do you think it will be big, will I have to live with anyone else?" Chehero looked back over towards the wall. "I hope they give me one that is closer to the outside, I would rather see the outdoors."

"I said that to my own Patron." Quickly glancing away from Chehero's face as old wounds began to surface, Vala pulled her legs up to her chest and encircled them with her arms, resting her chin on her knees. "Sign on the bottom of the second page, initial the third one and then put your John Hancock on the fourth one." She loved that old saying. Her Great Grandmother Noel had been a Historian and Archeologist, and her family had kept a great many books that she had been able to save from the destruction of war. The history books were almost like a family heirloom, and for Vala, they were the greatest gift she'd ever been given. Her mother had always said that she got all of her Grandmother's academic genes, even a few of her personality ones too, and they didn't stop short of having a passion for history. Distracted by the prancing pup, Vala smiled as she walked proudly around them with the meat hanging from her mouth. Feathermist reminded her of a more playful version of a younger Feathershroud.

--- Although the humans might have acknowledged (praised, whathaveyou) the young wolf's antics, she would not. 'Killing' a dead piece of meat wasn't something to be proud of, even a baby feline could do that. Making eye contact with her Rider, FeatherShroud bobbed her head to the side indicating she wanted to go eat now that her Apprentice had started to feed. As soon as she got the okay, the Wine splashed female turned on the spot and darted away, her feathers swaying to the motion of her strides. She would be back before long, the Human's Bovines were slow and cumbersome, and extremely easy to take down and ingest. ---

"Hmm? Oh, its fine. You'll get used to the noises around here. The only time you need to worry when you're with me, is if I look worried." Looking up at Chehero with her eyes as she apologized, Vala re-directed her vision back to the two wolves. "Shroud will teach Mist all she needs to know." Nodding at Feathershroud as the wolf asked a silent question, the hugged her knees tighter as the older Gamma disappeared around the corner of the building. "Your room has a bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen and a Den for FeatherShroud. Simple, basic furnishings like a desk, a bed, a few bookcases, etcetera. We're a military instillation after all. And the rooms aren't really big, but there’s enough room this year so no one has to share." Closing her eyes as the pain in her leg mellowed out her hyper mood into one that more closely resembled her natural state, Vala continued. "I hope you mean you want one with a window. Because as you can see, the fence that surrounds us is solid and hard to see out of. I have a window... I don't know, maybe the housingmaster will be nice and give you a window room. He tends to like to put all of you Apprentices in the middle of the Barracks."

"Pardon me Vala but, my John Hancock?" Chehero had never heard this form of words said before let alone in that phrase, and she silently wondered if her patron constantly came up with random words. Reading the second page she did as she was instructed, signing her name in delicately placed bubble like letters. Flipping the page over she continued to read, finding the small line that needed her initials. Continuing onto the forth one she found it needed what must have been her signature. "Feels like I'm just signing my very existence away." Pulling the paper back over onto the main part of the clip board Chehero glanced at Vala. "Perhaps I meant the window's, being shut in the dark would be bothersome really." Chehero wasn't one for sharing complexes she wasn't to personal with people and found it slightly uncomfortable. Giving a warm smile she passed the paper back to her patron, "I hope you don't mind if we lay here a bit? The sun does feel rather nice and warm on my face." Truly Chehero hadn't been allowed much time in the sun to just laze about, as Adrian usually got after her for slacking around under the sun.

Chehero closed her eyes taking in a deep breath of pleasure, she loved the feeling of the sun. The warm sun which would eventually melt away this thin layer of snow that covered the ground. The very same sun that would bring back the centipedes upon the forts, upon mankind. She winced at the thought just as another questioning existence entered spoke in hers. But this time a few words had formed and been voiced, Chehero's head slowly turned towards the younger wolf.

Sapphire blue eyes stared back up into electric pink ones, We will be strong. Lowering her gaze Feathermist took another gleeful bite from her meal, happy to feel the wetness sift between her teeth. She had been listening to Chehero's mind interested in what the human thought. Completely entertained by the wild carefree part of the female, though once Chehero had gained the image of the large many legged creatures shivers also coursed through her. Flicking her ear as Feathershroud walked away, Feathermist wasn't to bothered, she would rather stay by Chehero anyway. After all Feathermist was far more interested in learning the language of her bond in order to communicate. Reaching down to take another bite she could feel the gaze, looking down at her. Feathermist could feel the strange awe within the humans mind. Looking back up with a half chewed mouthful of food the adolecent wolf folded her ears back and licked Chehero flat across the bottom of her chin. Thinking it only a game when Chehero quickly burst from where she sat.

"Feathermist!" Chehero bolted from her perfect place as she began wiping away the warm blood that was streaked under her face and around her neck. Absolute disgust registering in her mind, yet thankful it wasn't the bright white uniform of her new fort yet. Opening her arms in a wide sweep she intended on catching Feathermist into an arm lock but she failed. The small wolf had managed to dodge out of the way in the nick of time sending the pair once again into another game of 'you-cant-catch-me'
