The group had moved pretty far north, skirting the deserts that Mut showed fear of. Huan was curious. She wanted to know what was there, who was there... And why. Why live in a place like that? So, with the cover of dark, she'd snuck away. She was an adolescent, she could survive it! Carefully, she stepped across the terrain, making sure to avoid any rocks that would make noise. Here and there, she heard the sounds of animals, distinct to the desert lands.

She was wandering more and more from her masters, using the excuse of hunting for the cubs. Now... She simply walked. Hunger did not gnaw at Kimiko's belly, even unfilled after two days. Finding a perch on a rock, she lay down, simply watching the horizon. What was out there, beyond the desert? It had been so long... She wondered about her children. How were they? Had they grown? She sighed, laying her head down to stare at nothing... Then saw SOMETHING. A spot of white, moving across the desert... A rogue? What, were they stupid?

Jumping across a small crack in the ground, Huan looked about. The desert didn't seem that exciting, when she thought about it... Starting up an incline, she tried getting a good look at the land around her. Rocks, dirt, and dunes... It wasn't too thrilling. And it was a bit cold... Sitting at the top of the incline, the white and brown lioness watched the sky above. Kingu had pointed out stars to her... Including the Hunter... Tail flicking, she smiled a bit to herself.

Getting up, the slave moved slowly. Keeping low to the ground, she watched the other lion, noting how the markings blended with the desert, yet the white stood out. If she didn't know better, and she did know, she'd have sworn the other lion was one of her own cubs. Getting close, she crouched down, shoulders shifting back and forth. Eyes on the target, she leapt foreward, not making a sound as she plowed into the intruder.

Letting out a sound of surprise, Huan tumbled down the dune, paws flailing as she struggled against the other lioness. She was outmatched by a lot, though, finding herself pinned as they slid to a stop. Trembling, she looked up into near-emotionless gold eyes, fear filling her own jade eyes. "P-please, don't kill me! I-I just wanted to see what was out here!"

Perhaps it was her inner yearning for her children, perhaps she no longer had it in her... Kimiko stepped back, tail curling. "Who are you, and do you have any idea how lucky you are?" She half-circled the other, taking everything in. Though smaller, it was clear the other lion was an adolescent. She hadn't been much older than that herself, once upon a time... Ears going back, the monochromatic lioness tilted her head, waiting on the answer.

Backing up, Huan swallowed. "I-I-I'm Huan Ju..." She looked around, suddenly especting... Something to pop out. Gaze returning to the lioness, she could only shake her head. How lucky WAS she? And why? She watched the other lioness, trembling all over. She was so very dead! "W-why am I lucky...?"

Stalking just a bit closer, Kimiko nodded her head towards the desert heart. "The pride that lives here... They either kill or enslave intruders." Easily knocking the younger cat down, Kimiko pinned her with a single paw. "You're lucky you were found by a slave... NOT a Firekin." Removing her paw, she started to walk away. She hadn't even used her claws once... Simply her brute strength.

Blinking, Huan got up. She watched the lioness, and saw a broken spirit. But there was still a light, somewhere... She hurried after, cutting the other lioness off. "Wait, who are you? Why are you here, why don't you just leave?" To her, it was a valid question, warranting an answer. She wanted to, just had to know.

Giving the little lioness a look of... Was it pity, boredom? She only shrugged. "I am Kimiko, that is all you need to know." Walking around Huan, she looked at her, leaning down to look her straight in the eye. "I am here, because..." She stopped, thinking. Why WAS she here? "I don't leave, because I have nowhere else to go... As to the why I'm here..." She had no answer. She'd leave that up to Huan to figure out. Snorting, she started across the desert. She'd need to catch something to bring home, lest she was beaten.

Watching her go, the adolescent could only sigh. So many questions unanswered, but then... She'd never asked a few. Like why did she look so sad? Shaking her head, she decided to heed the danger and go back. Picking her way carefully, she was soon racing across the desert, heading back to her family and travel group. There was so much to look foreward to!
