But that didnt happen. They didnt even make the playoffs.
What do you think will happen to the Cowboys next season? Do you think any of their coaches or staff will get fired? What do you think of the Cowboys this past season, and what do you expect to happen to them in the 09 season?
What are your thoughts on the Cowboys

I'm not most people but the Cowboys weren't going to make it to the playoffs considering how they played in the past few weeks.

Most people didn't want the playoffs to win the Super Bowl. They are one of the most hated teams around the league, like the Yankees are.
But most people projected them to win the Super Bowl. The Cowboys had so much talent and potential this season, but didn't bring it together. Jerry Jones hurts the team by opening his mouth. Wade Phillips had no control over the team, and although he has a great record on paper, he failed the initial goal. The players have bad relationships. It's just a completely dysfunctional team. Their fans suffered, and they closed out the final year at Texas Stadium with disappointments.
I guess in short, it was a letdown for the Cowboys.

they just wont ever make it until they get rid of jerry jones. he needs to realize that he cannot buy the trophy anymore. all he ever does is go out and spend money on people that are good players, but wont work together. Him and al davis are just like the boston red sox and ny yankees. all they do is spend money and not get anywhere. so until they get sold, the cowgirls will never get back to the superbowl.

But baseball and football are entirely different. In football, there is a salary cap, and the team needs to work together more. Offensively, players want the ball often, so the QB and coaches have to distribute the ball between receivers, running backs, and tight ends. In baseball, there is not a salary cap, and it's not too much of a team game. It's basically you against the opposing pitcher. A live ball is thrown to a base, without preferring one teammate over another.

Publicity is fine, but when its costs you the playoffs and the superbowl? I think something needs to be given up. Jerry Jones needs to learn that.
As for baseball...I don't watch baseball much if at all, but I believe the Yankees have been to the pennant more times than the Cowboys make it into the playoffs and have won WAY more championships than any other team in MLB. So, money isn't the issue.

Back in the 90's and before there was no salary cap. They were able to buy whoever they wanted if they could get the chance. They have not changed. They still keep trying to do that. That is why they have not (with the exception of the raiders) won a playoff game and most likely will not until Jones retires or has a revelation and goes with team players more than overall talent. Why do you think Philly and NE and Indy are always in the playoffs?
