whos gonna pay? us obviously.

It stings but it would be worse for us if the company fails. I actually do not necessarily care about the industry itself. Its is obviously broken. But the effect to the economy would be serious.

In my opinion, any company requiring a bailout needs to be closed and sold so that the free market could make available those assets to a company that is solvent and can do better. The oversight currently proposed is not enough in my opinion. Just making sure CEOs dont take the money is crap. They need to fire the CEO's and hire better ones as a requirement for bailout money at the least.

The consequences of the US spending more money it does't have, are going to be far worse than the consequences of the Big Three collapsing. The US auto industry isn't going to disappear. Whether it's foreign-owned companies opening more US factories, or a new US automaker stepping in to fill the vacuum, American workers are still going to be making cars in American factories.

These bailouts have no place in a free market. If this bailout passes too, it'll just be more confirmation that socialism is here to stay, public opinion be damned.

Thank you, George Bush, for killing capitalism.

oh please you're faulting george bush for this? I know he has a part but the issue I have with that is that the president cannot affect policy by himself, the president needs congress to go along with what we wants for his aims to be accomplished. Remember this anytime you slam an American president for his actions, congress must share the blame as well.

The Bush Administration was instrumental in pushing a lot of the socialist legislation over the past 8 years. Bush himself was one of the loudest voices calling for the $700 billion bailout. But you have a point; they couldn't have done it without Congress...both the Democrats and the Republicans helped cause this mess.
