I have several problems with this

1. most of mccain supporters are most likely NOT racists. yes, there are some exceptions but for the most part I feel conservatives are not racist for not supporting obama. Tell me, were we racist for not supporting bill clinton?

2. gun sales have increased since the election, however I feel that this is most likely due to the fact that a lot of conservatives are under the false impression that the president elect will try to take their guns.

3. I have heard nothing of these alleged fights based upon racial tension at schools where chants of white power and black power. I think stories of this volitality would have most likely made national news, quite frankly I doubt the legitimacy of these reports.

4. "I'm sure that many of our people have unfortunately lost their lives because of the absolute hatred that is manifested now that one of our own has risen to such a high office," Farrakhan told the crowd at the national headquarters of the Nation of Islam. one of our own if thats not creating boundaries between races I don't know what is.

Yeah, that probably why Obama distanced himself during the election. I do worry about the racism though. I have personally spoken to people nowhere near the south that actually used the 'n' word when telling me why they would not vote for Obama. (note, I am not trying to generalize conservatives in any way with this anecdote)

I think that Obama's victory is living proof of the beginning of the end for 'white power' Young, educated people voted in record numbers and were rewarded for their participation. Their voice was heard. What this means is that the world is moving on, and the racists can see it. Gone are the days where people could display racist attitudes and count on society and their community to mostly agree with them. The demographics have spoken. America is moving on and leaving them behind. They haven't represented what America is for a long time and now they can't fool themselves anymore that they still do. I worry that they will fight, kicking and screaming, till the end, fearing the inevitable.

I'm guessing there were just as many people who voted for Obama because he was black as there were people voting against him for his race.

People like Farrakhan and Jesse Jackson really need to go away now. I'm sick of hearing them blame all the US's problems on white racists. This election has proven that racism against blacks is no longer a significant factor in the US. Their whole argument has vanished. They will either disappear, or stick around and erroneously blame racism for all the legitimate critisism of Obama during his presidency. I really hope it's the former.
