After these 6 weeks in the NFL, i have been asking myself, who was the best player so far in the League? Answer here, not in PM, on who is your #1 player so far this year

Brandon Jacobs or Clinton Portis in my eyes

First of all, welcome to the guild.

...Um...that's a tough one. There have been many different players that stepped up, and it is really early in the season to determine. But so far, a few players stood out above the rest: Greg Jennings, Albert Haynesworth, Jay Cutler, Clinton Portis, Drew Brees, Eli Manning, Brett Favre, Kurt Warner, Ronnie Brown, John Abraham, and a few others...

Drew Brees, especially if he breaks Dan Marino's single season yards passed record this season.

...Well not after today's game against the Panthers. Drew Brees and the entire Saints team played pretty awful.

Wow, IDK. There is no run away winner. Hmm, Micheal Turner or Drew Brees...

Turner may be leading the league in rushing, but he has been really inconsistent. He racked up most of his yards against Detroit, Kansas City, and Green Bay, which are three of the worst run defenses in the NFL. Michael Turner has sturggled against the good run defenses of Tampa Bay, Carolina, and Chicago, where he failed to reach 60 yards in either of those games.

Drew Brees he's having an outstanding season.

Well he does have a great receiving core, and that sure helps. Colston, Shockey, Meachem, Henderson, Moore, Reggie Bush...

Colston has been out since for nearly all the season. Shockey has been out for a couple weeks. Brees is getting it done without his top receivers. Eh.

I really don't know who to vote for yet. I would lean toward Portis for making the Redskins a contender in the east... but... Meh... It's not even halfway through the season yet.

Clinton Portis, Eli Manning, or Michael Turner.

I think out of who everyone mentioned so far, it should be Clinton Portis. He almost single-handedly carried the Redskins through the beginning of the season, and is getting it done on all aspects. Rushing, catching, blocking, and scoring. He has been the most consistent RB in the NFL so far too.

I dunno, there has to be someone on the Titans worthy of this! I mean come on! ******** it! Lendel White or whoever their 1st string back is.
PostPosted: Mon Oct 20, 2008 10:22 pm

The problem with the Titans is that they're functioning well as a team. There's no real one person that should be MVP of the whole league. They just work well as a unit. No real superstar. You know what they say, the sum of the parts or something. The only person who could be considered an MVP on that team is Albert Haynesworth. The defense starts with him. But, you know how it is with defensive players. Last person to win MVP on defense was Lawrence Taylor way back when. Before that... Alan Page waaaaaaaay back.

So, the likelihood of Haynesworth winning MVP? Slim. Of course, you also have to consider the rest of the season.
