The young academy graduate walked slowly out in to the night air. The air had become cooler and crisp as she looked about the wind blew around her. Hearing the leaves crinkle around her she turned her head to the side,

"Don't try to sneak up on me Celeste, I can hear you coming"

Turning to face the large wolf she smiled, seeing her companion was always nice. Throwing her arms around Celeste's neck she giggled.

The gray wolf chuckled softly as she felt her rider throw her arms around her.

Hello Wyntre.

Looking around slightly she gave her rider a smile one that spoke volumes to the real reason that Wyntre was out on such a cold night. Mischief.

Adrian looked around at the darkened barracks that stood in perfect formation as if they had been aligned on a grid. They were hard to spot in the night, but still something he had missed seeing after being stuck in a single building for so many months. The last time he'd been here was this summer, although he would've liked to have come a month ago - but his Captain had said he was needed by the Recruits more. He disagreed, and still did, but he had never been one to challenge the authorities.

Hah! The day you don't challenge an authority is the day I offer a Recruit to ride on my back, Nightwing scoffed sarcastically at the human on his back, padding softly as he walked along the cold ground. If anything, Adrian had engaged in a very heated argument over said topic for more than an hour. Not as if our presence would've made a difference - stupid will be stupid.

The wolf had a point, Adrian had to admit, no matter how offensive the thought. There had to have been some lack of judgement involved when a rider fell prey to the centipede, either falling lax during battle or simply becoming overconfident. Either way, casualties should've been expected with the lapse of strict training and enforcement placed upon the Patrol these days. If Adrian had still been Sergeant, he would certainly be beating everyone up at the moment.

Night sessions are always fun, Nightwing agreed with a devilish grin, remembering the days they had pulled all the apprentices out of their beds for a drill. The cold darkness agreed with him since he blended into the night like a shadow, and it was definitely entertaining scaring the wits out of all the fresh Academy graduates. I think we should have night sessions with the Recruits.

Not a bad idea, Adrian thought as he mulled over the idea. It would certainly give the teens an insight into what life as a Wolfrider was really like - centipedes didn't always attack during the night, though their appearance in the night was rare.

The sound of a soft giggling reached his ears and Adrian turned his head to glance at the source, causing his wolf to come to a stop. A few meters away, a young woman was embracing her wolf - such a sight always made him roll his eyes, as he did now.

If you ever try that, I'll bite your head off.

Celeste turned to look around she had heard something as did Wyntre. Looking a bit harder to see what looked like an older member of the pack and a rider. She looked at Wyntre I wonder, if they are all that strict

Wyntre giggled once again,

"They can't be all that strict...we'll never fit in if that were the case. They would say you were too nice to me"

Nice? Celeste laughed at the though of her being nice. However, it was true that she held a very soft and dear spot in her heart for her rider. It would be a lonely night if she couldn't at least meet up with her for a few hours or minutes.

Wyntre buried her face in to Celeste's main and said very softly to her companion,

"You are nice...and at least you don't judge me for being different like so many before you."

She winced slightly, she remembered why she was here...so far away from anyone that could have cared for her. She was different but, it didn't seem to matter to her companion. Smiling once again she looked up at Celeste,

"Shall we say hello or do you think they might be too "strict" for your liking?"

Celeste grumbled slightly before seeing the smile on her young riders face. It was such a pleasure to at least know that she was such a great comfort to her rider if nothing else. Nodding slowly she turned to face the new comers fully ready to head in their direction once Wyntre decided what she wanted to do. Ready when you are...but I swear if they are anything like the others I'm going to want to leave...and I don't care if the rider is cute or anything of the sort I'll want to leave.... getting a smile and a nod from her rider they both moved towards the new comers.

Oh, look, they're coming to pay their respects.

Adrian had turned away, ready to move along, not really in the mood to converse. But if they wanted to approach and risk his sharp tongue, who was he to stop them? Besides, Nigthwing sounded a little more enthusiastic than usual, even if his statement was dripping with arrogant sarcasm.

I do not appreciate your implications, Nightwing denied haughtily even as he looked the gray female over appreciatively. Her slender form and soft colors were to his liking, and like any male, he could appreciate the femininity radiating from the young female before him. And her accessories certainly added to her sparkle under the moonlight.

Stop being such a lovesick puppy, you mutt.

Pinning his ears back in annoyance, Nightwing growled softly at being called a mutt - it was degrading! So just to spite the human, he walked forward to meet the approaching pair, ignoring the insistent tugs at his neck fur. If you don't stop pulling my beautiful fur, I'll bite your hand off.

Adrian stopped immediately, only because he knew his wolf would follow through with the threat. And people thought Damien had a bad relationship with his wolf - at least Feral would never intentionally harm his rider (to the point of losing a limb, at least). Mutt.

Nightwing stopped and with a second of consideration, he leapt half a foot into the air and pushed his back upwards. The force of his movement caused Adrian to lose his seat, but the man managed to grab a fistful of fur as they came down. Nightwing landed as quiet as a cat, glancing to the side and looked disappointed that Adrian had managed to land on his feet as well.

Not sure if the wolf had been trying to show off or simply wanted to make him look stupid, Adrian steadied himself before throwing a cold glare at the dark wolf. Turning his head towards Wyntre, he narrowed his eyes further, annoyed that she had seen him thrown off his wolf. Oh, his reputation was ruined!

And so he responded like he always did - in a rude sneer. "What are you looking at, you ugly cow?"

Wyntre watched in amazement as the wolf tried to throw his rider, looking at Celeste she knew that she wouldn't ever do that on purpose.

Celeste smiled it was amusing to watch, I wouldn't ever throw you off without due cause

Looking back at the man and hearing his words Wyntre cringed did he just call her an ugly cow? Lowering her head slightly in respect she said very softly,

"Nothing sir...I had just thought I would come over to say hello. I didn't see anything I was too busy conversing with Celeste"

She had hoped that by ignoring the fact that he had been thrown he wouldn't be too upset with her.

Celeste looked the man over as she heard her rider talk, thinking to herself that Wyntre sure was being nice to such an arrogant jerk. But she supposed it was what they had to do. Finally looking at the wolf she thought to herself that he didn't seem that strict..but kind of intimidating.

Adrian narrowed his eyes at the woman's response, wondering if she was pretending to be ignorant to stay on his good side or to use it as ammunition against him later. Either was a stupid choice, since he didn't have a good side, and he'd be able to find more dirt on her than she would have after he shoved her in the mud.

At least she realizes you rank higher than her.

Well, she'd better, Adrian thought coldly, or there would be hell to pay. With a dismissive wave at Wyntre, he glanced at her arrogantly as if he expected her to kiss the ground he walked on (which he did, sort of). "Fine, you've said your hello, so why are you still here. Did you want something?"

After a second of thought, a suggestive smirk lifted his face as he added, "Like something you see?"

You'll have to excuse my human, he is so stupid, Nightwing apologized to Celeste, looking down at her just because he could. I mean, he could go for a prettier one, your human isn't much to look at. he continued, glancing at Wyntre with distaste. The woman was not his style - then again, he thought all humans looked ugly (present company included).

You, on the other hand, are quite the sight. From anyone else, that would've sounded like a kind compliment. But from Nightwing, it simply seemed like a vulgar remark, especially with the way he was leering at Celeste.

Celeste looked a bit shocked at the other wolfs words. She felt more or less repulsed by the way he spoke to her and about Wyntre. Feeling a bit on the cautious side she didn't dare say what she was wanting.

Wyntre felt a brief moment of unrest from her wolf as she looked at her and then quickly at the man. Forgetting her place she scoffed before saying out loud.

"With you're demeanor I doubt there will be anything that anyone could ever see that is likable except perhaps your handsome wolf over there."

Getting a swift tug from Celeste Wyntre fell flat on her behind. Looking up a bit of a scowl on her face.

"What was that for!"

Celeste shook her head, You know better...just because he is arrogant doesn't give you the right to speak to him that way...we should just leave...they both give me the creeps and besides you promised. Celeste looked at night wing, "I apologize for my human...she gets wound up sometimes...however, I believe we are going to take our leave now..." looking back down at Wyntre Celeste growled slightly, giving her the signal of lets go before I get mean.

Wyntre huffed slightly before standing up and lowering her head,

"I'm sorry...we will take our leave now..."

She didn't like this other human he seemed vapid and a jerk to say the least. But at the same time she wasn't too happy with the way Celeste acted either. It would just be better if they had never said hi in the first place. She began to turn away from them with Celeste a step ahead of her.

She called me handsome, Nightwing commented cheekily, head lifted higher and shoulders pulled back to flaunt off his 'sexy' self. He would've preferred that the female wolf had been the one to compliment him, but one out of two wasn't bad.

But what surprised him was Celeste's demeanor, completely unaffected by him. Most females (or at least the ones that mattered) would immediately swoon in his presence; the rest growled and threatened him, but they were insignifcant. Still, receiving nothing but polite behavior from her only caused Nightwing to find her even more appealing.

Leaving so soon? I haven't given you my name yet. Nightwing trudged after Celeste, refusing to give up on the chase so early (or late, if you were looking at the time) in the game. And I still have so much to tell you about myself.

Adrian rolled his eyes at the consequences of a simple compliment, whether it was an accidental slip of the tongue or not. He followed the female pair too, not because he was crushing on the girl like his love-stricken wolf here, but that happened to be the direction he was heading to begin with. And since they were all going the same way...

"Now look what you've done, as if the ugly wolf's ego wasn't big enough already," Adrian retorted with a pleasant smile towards his wolf (who bared his teeth but the threat went pretty much unnoticed). Then he turned to look at Wyntre, hands in his pockets as he strolled along as if he did this everyday.

"Surely you're not running away from me? It's not very polite to walk away from a Sergeant like that," Adrian goaded on, a small smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. How he loved to annoy people, and it's been awhile since he had the chance to bother an adult. Teenagers were too easy to rile up.

Wyntre dismissively said,

"He is a very handsome wolf if you had any brains you'd understand that as well. I always thought a wolf was a reflection of the one that was bonded with them now I'm beginning to think perhaps it isn't true"

Getting a stern look from Celeste she stopped and finally turned to the man,

"I'm very sorry for the way that I have treated you Sergeant. I did not mean to over step my bounds."

She knew Celeste wasn't going to let her get away that easily but perhaps since her mind seemed a bit more occupied with the wolf that she wouldn't be scolding her too harshly.

Celeste kept walking, but occasionally turned to the wolf. "I am leaving...before I must keep your human from beating the insolence out of mine. She really isn't as rude as she is being...but you're human seems to just bring it out in her..." She wasn't sure exactly what this wolfs game was he seemed a bit intrigued with her which she couldn't understand. She wasn't sure if she really wanted to find out though, finally asking a question in hopes that he would stop giving her that feeling she asked politely, "very well then, what is your name since you know mine."
PostPosted: Sun Nov 02, 2008 11:14 pm

Adrian glanced around, before turning back to Wyntre with a quizzical glance. "Are we talking about the same wolf here? Because I don't see any handsome creature around."

But her next statement amused him deeply, and he gave a bark of scoffing laughter before rolling his eyes in disbelief. "You've got to stop believing what non-Wolfriders say. They don't know any better. A wolf is definitely NOT a reflection of their human. I mean, look at this monstrosity." Adrian offered a quick wave to his dark wolf. "He is nowhere near as charming as I am."

Adrian ignored her apology, simply satisfied that at least she was showing him some semblance of respect. But he was also a little disappointed as he had been hoping for a more heated conversation with the woman. At least she was proving to be interesting enough.

My human could use a good beating, I wouldn't object to seeing him pummeled by your little femme, Nightwing responded with a snarl towards his human. In an affectionate manner, of course, since anyone who knew the pair understood that their cruel manners toward each other was simply out of love.

Ignoring the humans for the time being, Nightwing kept pace with Celeste and swayed his tail playfully so that it occasionally brushed against her. Actually, I don't think I've caught your name. Mine is Nightwing, and now that I've told you mine, you must tell me yours.

Wyntre grew a little upset at the comment,

"How dare you say such mean things about your wolf like that?!"

She couldn't even believe that he could have such thoughts about his wolf they were so much more regal and beautiful then most humans could ever be. Her fear of Celeste hitting her must have diminished for a quick second as she lashed out on the poor boy. For his poorly chosen words about his companion.

Celeste sighed softly she couldn't believe the spitefulness coming from her rider. She knew that Wyntre was touchy when it came to animals in general but wolves seem to hit a cord with her. Shaking her head as she looked at Nightwing, was he trying to touch her? she wondered gently her mind wandering to him instead of Wyntre's insolence. Celeste...my name is Celeste. I think that perhaps we might be privy to a fight here shortly. She didn't even move to stop Wyntre from making any other nasty comments to the vile human.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 10, 2008 8:06 pm

Adrian looked at Wyntre with a disbelieving expression, one eyebrow raised as he tried to determine whether she was serious or not. And she seemed genuinely upset at his comments, especially with her defensive outburst.

"If you could hear Nightwing, you wouldn't be so quick to defend him," he replied with an uncaring shrug, throwing his arms behind his head and glancing up at the dark skies. "Actually, you should consider yourself lucky that you can't hear him. He's probably making snide remarks about you to your wolf."

A pause, before Adrian glanced over at his wolf with a sly smirk. "That's if he's not too busy oogling after your wolf."

Nightwing offered Celeste a toothy wolf-grin. A beautiful name for such a beautiful creature, he complimented. Anyone who knew him would probably be on guard, since he was never nice without a reason. So lucky for him she didn't know him. That'll change soon.

Like I said before, my human can use a beating. Feel free to encourage your rider to jump him, he goaded, returning Adrian's smirk with a silent snarl of his own. Oh yes, that man needed to be hit over the head a couple of times.

Celeste paused for a moment, what was this wolf's game. He seemed too eager to earn her trust and way to friendly for that matter. She had heard stories of other wolves with egotistical riders and wonder slightly if he was the same. On one had she had hoped he was genuinely sweet, seeing as he was nice to look at but on the other hand she had the gut wrenching feeling that she was going to regret talking to him. Looking at Celeste she gave a stern growl at her, she didn't want to wake up tomorrow having to have the worst duty to do or even worse wake up in the rain because they got kicked out of their housing.

Wyntre drew a breath. As she looked at the young man the moon had caught him in a stunning light. But just as quickly as she heard his words her brief relapse in judgment having gone away as her spitefulness towards him came back.

"I just don't understand HOW you can say such things. Of all the wolves I've ever had the pleasure of meeting there have been none with a rider so demeaning as yourself!"

She had to keep from turning to face him full on and punching him squarely in the nose.

Celeste could feel the unrest and stopped she walked over to Wyntre and pulled hard on the back of her jacket, Now listen to me you stop this, this instant do you hear? I will not be sleeping in the cold tonight just because you feel the need to fight with someone that you find attractive...can't you just be nice to him?!

Wyntre said out loud in an incredulous tone

"ATTRACTIVE?! Why I never! I'd rather punch the arro..."

She stopped mid sentence when she realized that everyone was looking at her. Slinking back slowly she fell, since Celeste had shaken her head and retreated back to where Nightwing was.

"Does your rider always have that effect on women?" she finally asked as she sighed softly.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 24, 2008 11:21 pm

Nightwing could feel the gears turning in the female's head, and he vaguely wondered if she could see through his initial politeness. Then again, he wasn't trying too hard to keep his sharp tongue in check, especially when it came his foolish rider. Which apparently had caught the attention of Celeste seeing as how she was growling at her own human, although he couldn't understand why. He personally would love to see Adrian beaten up... by a woman, no less.

Adrian raised an eyebrow as Wyntre seemed to momentarily regain her calm after a quick warning from the wolf. He never could understand why so many riders obeyed their wolves like puppies, he never had any trouble snapping back at Nightwing. But he couldn't really boast about the many scars he'd gotten from his wolf's 'light' slap.

"Demeaning? I'm just pointing out the facts. It's not my fault you're so ignorant to a wolf's true nature," Adrian scoffed, rolling his eyes at her exclamation. It was true, it's not as if he had lied... yet. "Besides, you haven't talked to Nightwing, so you don't have a right to judge him... or what I say about him, as a matter of fact."

Ah, she's far too kind to you, Nightwing vaguely commented to his rider as Celeste gave the woman a tug. I would let her lunge at her. Actually, I'd be the one pushing her towards you.. if only I didn't dislike humans so much. Present company included.

Adrian ignored the wolfish grin, instead withdrawing slightly and staring at Wyntre's sudden outburst. Looking down with the most condescending expression he could muster, Adrian hid the devious grin that threatened to take over. "Why, there's no need to punch anything. If you find me that attractive, I'm here for your taking. But don't expect me to stick around in the morning."

Examining Wyntre with a cautious eye, Nightwing wondered if she was rabid before answering Celeste's question. He's made a couple of Recruits cry, and even wet themselves. But turn one completely insane? I'd say this is a new effect, but an interesting one. He turned and gave Celeste a calculating look. Unless she's always like this? Then maybe she should be put down.

Celeste shook her head sadly her rider was for the most part very heated when it came to wolves. Perhaps it was because she felt that she belonged with Celeste a lot better then she did with humans but either way she couldn't be sure. Looking back at Nightwing and then laughing slightly, "actually she isn't always this bad...your rider just seems to have found the right nerve to pick on. I'm about ready to let her hit him...if it wasn't for the fact that I'd rather not be sleeping in this cold."

Wyntre finally had enough he was just so...arrogant there needed to be something to get his attention. Without any warning she hit him squarely on the nose.

"I doubt that you would be able to handle me let alone be alive enough for a morning to come for you in the off chance I would ever have anyone as arrogant and demeaning such as yourself."

Feeling quiet proud of herself she turned only to be greeted by a very scary looking Celeste. Gulping slightly she wasn't really afraid of what Celeste would do to her but rather what Celeste would allow be done to her.
