.:: Kataka Nikaya ::.

Mallavi and Resana were born into the pack Kataka Nikaya. Each word in the packs' name has a variety of meanings, and specific meanings were kept in pack lore to pass on. Kataka means the side or ridge of a mountain, a valley, a royal camp, an army, collection, compilation, and sea-salt. Nikaya means an assemblage, a group, association (of persons who perform the same duties); congregation; collection; habitation, dwelling, hiding-place, the air, and wind.

Mallavi was always with a group of other male wolves in his age group, and seemed to be their mini alpha. Often, the boys would get into wrestling matches that the adults would have to break up. He looked forward to Taking over as alpha when his father was too old to continue doing the job, but otherwise was happy as a young hunter of the pack.

Growing up, Resana often stayed with the packs' shaman, along with a few other wolf pups. Unlike her friends, she truly found the shamanic ways interesting, not just fun. For hours on end, Resana would sit with the shaman on a rocky cliffside near the packs' main den, listening to the sounds of the wind. It was her favorite past time, besides trying to hunt rodents and frogs and insects near her den.



.:: Family ::.

Their father, Maccumal, was a firey wolf, and the Alpha leader of the pack. Esme Rouha was their mother, and the other Alpha. Their parents were opposites, wild and calm.

Their sister was daddys' girl, always tagging along with their father when he did duties such as venturing out to check territory markings, or check up on a mated pairs' den.



.:: The Pain ::.

Kataka Nikaya was attacked by poachers one day. Almost every wolf was hunted and either killed for fighting back, or dragged off to get their hides and other things the humans thought 'valuable'.

Mallavi, with the other hunters and protectors of the pack, was one of the first to start in, fighting back as the humans. Him and his mini gang kept a close formation and fought well, but Mallavi witnessed his best friend, and hunting partner, killed. In his hesitation and shock, he was hit over the head with the butt end of a rifle and left to die, his pelt already having been too scratched and ruined to be of any use to the poachers.

Resana was thrown by a human for trying to fight for her mothers' life and hit a tree trunk, losing consciousness behind a bush for almost a full day. By the time she awoke, there was no other wolf to be found. She felt the need to search the woods for other pack members. For a few months she did this, only finding more and more hints of the terrible happenings that befell upon her pack.



.:: A Shred of Hope ::.

Waking almost three days after his sister, Mallavi searched through the destruction and explored all corners of the pack lands. He helped another pack mate gather the dead in his parents den, and finding Resanas' scent, decided to track her down and see if they could salvage some sort of pack ideals together.

Never giving up any hopes that a member of the pack may still be alive, Resana set out on her own, in search of either her family and friends, or a new start. With nothing left in her old home, Resana can only hope to find some relative or pack member out in the lands beyond her old territory.
