The fighting area is now much smaller than the previous arena type. 200 ft in radius, with a 100 ft in diameter platform in the center. The area between the platform and the high wall of the stands is 50 ft. There's something lying in this space other than usual sand and hard ground: water.

The water is no out of bounds, only the stands and beyond. However, the 6 ft thick platform is floating on top of water that is 30 ft deep, so the platform is bound to sway in balance whenever shifts of movement occur on its surface. Too much weight on one side can cause that side to become submerged in water for a few seconds before the balance resets itself.

"Oy...." A child would mutter as he jumped into the ring, his toes barely catching on the edge of the ring to pull him in. Today was a rather boreing day filled with not much expectation of anything. The five foot nothing kid looked around to all those in the stands. Some were clapping, some were aweing, others still seemed confused at the fact that he was there. He wasnt visibly armored at least to the untrained eye since his armor was fashioned in such a way that it looked and weight not much more than normal clothing. His greaves fit him like boots and his gauntlets like gloves, yeah he seemed to be dressed quite normally. The only oddity about him was the fact that he wore all black on such a nice sunny day and that nice pouch that was on his hip. He yawned loudly as he walked around the arenas boundaries a bit briskly so water would pile on its surface, wondering what to make of this day. Would he have time for a nap with this match too?

The big question now was would his opponent show up this time? He wondered this as he moved to and sat in the center of the ring, looking around to see what he could see.

Oh, a water arena; what fun.

Spooky had to swim his uncaring a** through the deep reservoir before finally coming to the edge. Pulling his body weight, equipment, and added water weight up onto the platform was something of a chore that forced him to grunt. It had only been a few moments and already the soldier was in a sour mood. Sucks for the little kid in the center of the ring.

Some chicks in the stands were probably fawning over him and even a few fighters would feel some discomfort with having to fight an apparent child. Spooky wasn't one of those people, he had seen on more than several occasions that the hands of a child were just as capable of killing as an adult's were. Obviously by being here, it meant that the kid had dispatched whoever he had fought in the first round. The man took note of this little fact as he stood to his full height and felt the platform dip a good deal in his direction and raise the child sitting on it.

"Hah."

Once again, within only a few moments he had already figured out how he was going to win this match. Spooky probably outweighed this kid by a good time and a half, at the very least. He took a few steps towards the center and watched or rather felt the platform even out once more.

Spooky turned away from the child and stared towards the direction of the edge.

"Hey kid, I got a question."

The old soldier asked loud in order to compensate for the distance and indirect speaking.

The moment his opponent stepped into the room he began to jump for joy. "YAY!!! I GET A PLAYMATE THIS TIME!!!!!!!" he exclamed as began to bounce around. The first match he didnt have to down his opponent, no, whoever it was didnt even show up. As he bounced he moved closer and closer to his opponent, forgetting that he was even asked a question until he was about twenty feet away. He stopped bouncing at this point with a confused look upon his face. "Um... whats the question mister?" he asked as he looked up at the man with his big blue eyes.

Through out the entire bouncing charade, Spooky wobbled up and down. Progressively the bouncing horizon subtly ebbed, the closer and closer the boy got. How did the soldier know the boy was closer? Well, he didn't, but judging from the proximity of the question and the smacking sound each hop made as it impacted back into the arena gave him a fairly good idea of where he was behind Spooky.

So, what was his question?

Good question.

Spooky reached up casually and gripped onto the sledgehammer's shaft. It had been on his back the entire time and was easily noticeable. As such, the child should have had no reason at all to react adversely to him. Especially since it was just a sledgehammer, and they did not make good throwing weapons. What did make decent missile weapons were catapults. And that's when he jumped up, pulling his knees up high and center of gravity down low.

Crashing back onto the floating platform with all his might, weight, and gravity aiding the man; this was going to abruptly shift the battle in his favor. The arena was like a see-saw due to the way it floated, each hop, footstep, and even change in balance would slightly deviate the way it floated. As such, all of Spooky's weight coupled with his equipment and what have you definitely would make things awkward for the platforms own center of gravity. This in turn caused the platform to topple forward like a sinking ship, raising the bow or stern high over head before finally sinking inward. Except in this case, there was no sinking just a great change in the platforms incline grade. Obviously as the height went up, so too did everything on that side; meaning, the kid inevitably was going to be tossed. Thrown from the once horizontal surface and towards the awaiting man.

Sliding his left foot over and behind his right, Spooky pulled the sledgehammer free from the loops of leather and swung diagonally as he began to stand and turn himself round through this motion. Adding to the weapons lethality was the simple act of the turn itself, this added much more momentum (mass+velocity) to his hammer. Spooky was fairly sure that a single blow anywhere on this kid due to the blunt force trauma and sheer crushing power (there was a twelve pound head on the hammer; extraordinarily heavy) was going to cause a great deal of pain and bone mangling. Keep in mind that the use of a sledgehammer (warhammer) on the battlefield has always had the single purpose of breaking and smashing heavy armor. Cracking open a knight and crippling him physically, so flesh or not, coming in contact with the soldier and his tool was not going to end well.

The man probbaly wouldnt expect the sound he heard from Kaine as he was tossed into the air. It wasnt a deffening cry of terror or a gasp of surprise. No it was a simple.... "WHHEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Kaine was enjoying the ride the man put him on. Now Kaine wouldnt be thrown off balance or surprised by the fact that he was now flying. Hell, he knew they were on water and it would be quite easy to topple the arena. He had seen the effects as he first trailed around the arenas boundaries. At anyrate he was now airborne. Now it didnt take a rocket scientist to see the man grab the weapon on his back and begin to turn upon touching the ground and swing it in Kaines flight path. Naw, Kaine saw it and immediately readied himself by.... The hell? He put his hands out infront of him. Well that wasnt smart by any means to try and take on a physical blow like that with his bare hands, well gauntleted bare hands, now was it? The weapon made contact with Kaine's hands but no sickening cracking of bones were heard, nor a cry of pain from the boy. The metal did make a clink sound though as it made contact with his hands followed by a very quick discrete flash. The weapon had just come into contact with his aura defense, a rather powerful means he had of guarding himself. Now this aura was unlike that of his uncle Blade, no he didnt have the many years of development as he to make it cover his entire body at all times even though it could. This aura was more free, easily moved by the simplest and even subconsious will. At any rate it was tightly compacted infront of his hands, nullifying all physical damage that he would incure by stopping the blow an inch away from his hand before he flew into the aura itself. Within the same moment he would put himself into a handstand ontop of the weapon, twisting his hips as he pivoted his his arms to send a kick to the side of his opponents head. There was no stop in his motion really, no he merely transfered his forward flying motion into twist to send the upside down kick as he would call it into the face of his opponent. Meanwhile, his hands began to expell heat......

Retcon:

Kaine could fly, okay he hadn't expected that. And his sledgehammer collided with something that definitely did not want to budge. This head on collision forced a rude quake of constant vibrations to run down Spooky's arms; jarring the strength in his arms for a moment and adding a good bit of dull numbness. Nothing he wasn't unused too from firing quite literally millions of rounds through different guns in his many lifetimes, it was still an annoyance though. A lot like this kid who just saw fit to land on the head of his hammer upside down. Yeah, he definitely did not have the strength prepared to handle a sudden one hundred odd pound weight increase on his already overextended arms. This forced Spooky to quite literally, sink his arms like a rock. With the sledgehammer slamming into the rock surface of the arena followed by the child who had landed on it. Such a rude turn of events was sure to shake loose any delusions of grandeur the little SOB might have been having that very instant.

And fill Spooky's own with all sorts of fight ending ideas.

He let go of the hammer with his dominant hand (right) and grabbed onto his smaller opponent, who about that time would probably be trying to get up. Spooky had intended to grab a fist full of the s**t's hair, and drag him up to his feet, from behind. Then go straight into a rear-naked chokehold, teetering backwards and colliding straight onto his own a**. Wrapping his legs about the kids hips and spreading his (the kids) arms with his knees under the elbow. Then wrapping his left arm around the underside of the childs neck and applying a huge amount of pressure to the arteries and windpipe with the left arm and crook of that elbow and locking it with his right elbow where the wrist and forearm meet; while still holding onto the hair. Such a move was incredibly deadly, for not only could it cause strangulation but insure unconsciousness within a few seconds. After the first one or two seconds a huge amount of blood would already be restricted, breathing would become difficult to the point of almost impossible and the telltale gray tinge of color in the eyesight would creep up.

"Tap out, or die."

Yeah, the choice was pretty simple.

[I apologize. At first I was planing on responding to you in the same manner, however I felt that was wrong and I would give you the same treatment I would expect from someone else.]

Well this was slightly unexpected by Kaine. Kaine did understand simple physics but his calculations were off and would leave him unable to finish his attack. However, that would not leave him without a manuever to pull. Upon hitting the ground, the head of the hammer probbaly lifting him about a foot off the ground, he found it undoubtably difficult for his opponent to freely grab his hair. Why? Well he could simply spring forward since the drop of the hammer would keep him from twisting his body in the manner in which he had wanted. This would still alow the man to grab him by the hair but was that truely what he wanted to do? Now there was a problem. Kaine was placed into a choke hold that, if came later in the match, would have ended it all together. That was not the case however. Now would come perfect time for a freeze frame with an announcer type person to give a discription of Kaines aura and its exact abilities. Kaine's aura, as said before, was not like that of his uncle Blade's. Blade's aura was a continous flow around his body, forever present until its energy was drained away by constant blows and attacks. Now that was where Kaines aura differed. It was not constantly protecting his entire body. It needed to be focused in the area of the attack in order to guard effectivly. Now it could also guard his entire body but that again needed to be focused. Despite this flaw his aura had its strong points too. Because it was not constantly flowing around his body he could strengthen the defensive abilities of it by compacting it all in the general area of the blow making it stronger and much harder to break. As a plus he also had achieved the ability to move it subconsiously or consiously within a moments notice. Subconsiouly being more so like a flinch to a punch but his opponent couldnt simply figure that out seeing it once if he did catch the brief shine. Now the larger the attack the more concentration needed to hold the aura in place. But hell, the attack was seen giving him more than enough time. Now of course the aura would be weakened from the attack but at the same time his aura was focused to a point infront of his hands giving it a pretty strong defense. Now time would move on and the announcer guy would vanish.

Being placed in a choke hold was not a plesant experience but he could get around it by using his aura in the same manner as he did earlier except it would be gathered around his head region and pushed outwards giving his neck a little breathing room, just enough concentration so he would feel very little of the effect of the hold. His hands instantly shot up to his opponents arm, gripping it tightly as the heat continued to increase as he released it from the hold that he had placed on it. This also ment that the rest of his body would become extreemly uncomfortable to hold onto quite soon. However, he didnt want his opponent to let go just yet. Rather, he wanted to take hold of his opponent. From his fingers fire begain to sprout and quickly snake its way over his opponents arms the moment his hands gripped the arm. These tendrils, comprised of energy as well as fire so that they were not simply broken. Now these tendrils would attempt to make their way up to the neck of his opponent and wrap around it placing him in a rather terrible predicament. Hell... A little while longer and his opponent would be in worse shape.

*edit.

Leathery Apron
Not just that, but the fact you let the kid in here with several pieces of armor made from metal that is generally seen as invincible, that he can fly without being taxed, he can form a practically unbreakable barrier wherever he wants, and to top it off can indeed create heat at such enormous temperatures with only a single post's charge. If you even want to consider it that. I am just saying, with the massive amount of movement spamming he was doing in the previous post, there should be no way he can do all of that without being the least bit tired or having his concentration broken. Especially when he is portrayed as a child. Childlike mentality is still childlike, despite intelligence level. Something that he seems to be playing up ("Yay! I am little, yay!") in order to try and seem underestimateable.

In short, I feel that his character should not have been allowed through with such abilities and items, when I was denied guns. And that he should be forced to retcon that single part of his post, the rest of it I have no problem with. Just the fact he didn't seem the least bit surprised or unnerved at having fallen when he was doing a handstand on a sledgehammer. His concentration should easily have been broken and thus the charge he had initiated would be reset as a result.

Just my two cents.

Aside from the disagreement of what his character came equipped with, I read and do agree that it's going to take at least three posts for Infer to charge enough heat to create that blade. I see this ability in your profile, Infer, but looking at its traits, I will need to see some charge time put on it, and you know my rules about charging attacks. Since this is a blade made from sheer heat, then charging is appropriate.

In short, no heat blade just yet. However, saying "Rear naked choke hold" in your post doesn't help, Apron, since your post was more of sarcasm than a true post. For that, I will like to ask for you to edit your post with a more concise action to what occurred. After you do that, PM Infer than you made the edit to allow him to do the same. The match will continue from there.

Spooky felt that same firmness in between his grip, just like when he tried to beat the child to death with the sledgehammer. Obviously, this was a barrier of some sort and outright submitting was not going to be an option.

Time to drown the little children.

Spooky had full control over the kids position of his body, given the way he was wrapped around him. He reared onto his back, took in a deep breathe and rolled off the side of the arena with the kid under him. Holding onto the neck with the left arm in the same choke as they slowly started to go deeper into the water. That left his right hand open and ready to do whatever he felt like, and what was that? Tickle. Tickle with a knife. He pulled free his blade from his waist and grabbed onto the kids shirt with his fingers. Pulling it up while holding onto the knife at the same time and began to stab viciously into the gut. He did this as an attempt to deflate the little kids lungs, and quite frankly just be feeling the shirt the boy was wearing, it obviously wasn't cotton. Rather than chance the blade not doing anything at all as he stabbed, picking it up had been the better choice.

If all went well, the water would run crimson and a vast assortment of air bubbles would filter up past Spooky's head. Signaling a victory.

Jeez. This man was becoming a big problem and a big annoyance to Kaine. Luckly for him the man had decided to take the time to roll him towards the water which was probbaly a bit more than a solid roll to take him into the water. Now his opponent had indeed gotten rid of the flames that were about him, however he gave Kaine time to figure things out more effectively. Seeing that his flames would no longer be of much use to him nor would his heat do too much damage since it would begin to disperse through the cooler water if not handled propperly, he decided he would change up a few things as he took as big of a gulp of oxygen as he could. As the man went for his knife, Kaine removed his hands from the arm of his opponent. His left arm went to the pouch that was at his waist, the other went to the area in which his opponent attempted to make contact with. -Stab- -c***k!!!- What was this? Kaine effectively moved his right arm into the path of the knife that was aimed at his gut. His opponent didnt have much control over his arms or legs now did he? Simultaneous to this block it became obvious that Kaine had a knife of his own, severaly of them actually but not of the same kind. No they were kunai knives. Now Kaine had taken out his blue explosion Kunai that was specially marked with a blue string to tell the difference between the others other than on what compartment of the bag they were kept. This kunai he would stab into the arm of his opponent just above the wrist, the closet point that neared both of their faces. Now here would be where the difference in his heat control came in. Being that they were now in the water there was little keeping his heat from dispersing to places he really didnt want it to go other than his adept ability to manipulate it. Well at this point he would manipulate it. Of course he would have to remove some focus on his aura and allow the hand to tighten more around his neck but that was a small price to pay to what was going to happen now.

The heat he would now channel through the hand that held the kunai. Time would pause once again as the announcer came onto the scene again to explain the kunais effects. He first started by explaining that they kunai looked like a normaly kunai however it was forged differently. It was partially made out of explosive materials that, once heated, would blow up and send shards of metal, this the auctual kunai knife metal, in all directions. The announcer vanished. Now Kaine had expelled more than enough heat from his body to easily channel it into the weapon despite the water. Hell, water didnt automatically cool down a heated surface. It took time. However to heat his weapon Kaine didnt need much. He was pretty much forcing the heat into it.

BOOM!!!

The weapon exploded and shards of metal would be sent everywhere including the nearby faces of Kaine and Spooky. Now Kaines face was guarded quite well since he had taken the time to cover his entire head region and neck with the entirety of his aura. His opponent would not be so lucky however. His face would be right in the brunt of the explosion and hell it burn and it would hurt and it would get his eyes... well you get the drift. Would it kill him? No, the explosion was not that sever. Only enough to put some damage in an important area. The most that would occur would be alot of pain, possible loss of eye sight, ringing of the ears... Oh yeah was a hell of alot of pain mentioned?
PostPosted: Tue May 27, 2008 6:26 pm

Except, not at all.

Spooky was wearing his leather gloves filled with lead shot. The kunai would puncture into the thick top of the leather gloves and get stuck in the midst of the tightly packed lead. It wouldn't pierce Spooky's flesh or even burn him as it exploded, the shrapnel and resulting overpressure (intensified from being under water) very well could have posed a serious issue if not for a couple of things. Spooky's arm was closer to the kid, than the arm was to Spooky, and his head was positioned right behind the child. He wholly expected the child's hand to be mangled, because heat had to s**t to do with overpressure and shrapnel; the major things that could come from an explosion of this nature underwater. Supernatural or not. Many shards would pierce into the hand, the overpressure would shred and collapse blood vessels and break bones. Eardrums would be punctured, etc, etc. Spooky though, he was wearing his body armor and his ballistics grade helmet, with the ACU and neck gaitor keeping his face from being burned. No damage of any practical nature came from this attack on him.

As a result nothing dissuaded the soldier from continuing to stab at the boys midsection, which he couldn't see and neither could the kid since they were under water but Spooky knew where it was as his was parallel with the child's. Spooky's arm under the chin signified that it keeping the boys neck from being able to look and tilt down. All in all, s**t looked really bad for the little man as they sunk deeper and the soldier squeezed ever more on the kids neck, keeping a greater amount of the precious and scarce oxygen from reaching his brain and vital organs. Spooky was expelling less energy, and had a larger lung capacity due to his size. Who would run out of air first? Him or the kid? All the money and physiology pointed towards the smaller of the pair.

Sure, the first stab was parried but would the following ones?

Especially when neither could see just what it was they were doing.

Stab and drown, stab and drown, those were the two actions that Spooky continued to apply and he had all the advantages.

Annoying annoying. His opponent forgot that he was wearing guantlets made of adamantium that would sheild him well enough and again his aura protected his head. Broken bone no for it was the knife of the kunai that blew the hell up. Now Kaine was faced with a problem of the mans stabbing blades. He doubted that he could make the man suddenly gasp out air from the position he was in nor did he think he could outlast him in a breath holding competition. Not to mention the *stab* *clink* over and over again. Of course he could continue to block being that the man was a completely different temperature than the water and he was a manipulator of heat therefore alowing him to tell where the hand was moving to but he would not be able to keep it up. So to remove himself of this problem he pulled his shirt back down and tucked it into his pants with on sliding movement of his hand. Of course his opponent would probbaly pull it back out once he found that it was there but that was more than enough time for him to begin a process that wouldnt take too long. Smart eh?

Now balling his left fist into a ball as heat began to charge around his balled fist. He only had a few moments and he needed to be precise.

Thunk.

The dull noise and the brushing of stone against his body signaled that they had hit the ground. Thirty feet under, Spooky looked up and saw the dim sunlight overheard, he thought about his options. His air supply was beginning to wane, but he could easily make it back up there in the next couple of seconds. Another minute would be pushing it, the child under him probably couldn't say the same though. He hadn't the same experience that Spooky did, hell basically no one did. Spooky stopped trying to stab, it was only making him burn more oxygen than he needed to. Exhausting his supply of air, and would force him to drown quicker, luckily though. The kid under him was doing a lot more than stabbing, he was parrying, holding up a barrier and from the sudden warmth; planning something else altogether.

That's when he was going to force the kid to move the barrier around his neck. The soldier squeezed down as hard as he dare on the barrier and begin to crush the side of the child with his legs. Forcing the air to be caught in between two vices. One at the neck, the other just at the lungs. Then in an instant, he brought up the knife in his right hand and stabbed down at the top of the kids head. Trying to puncture the skull and lobotomize him in the process. Spooky knew this wasn't going to happen, and he completely was prepared for that same invisible forcefield to stop it. Parrying the blow was no longer an option, as the kid was face down against the ground with a man basically double his weight on his back. Arms simply did not bend that way, and so, he had checkmated the kid. Moments he would not have, as seconds were all it took.

Move the barrier and be KO'd or don't move it and get stabbed in the head.

What was so hard to understand about the aura covering his entire head? He didnt have to move anything really but his opponent was right about his oxygen supply. His oxygen was growing quite low. Good. They were finnaly at the bottom. This in itself was quite a good thing for him being that not only did he have somewhere he could put his hands and knees on, but it allowed him to execute a plan to give him an instant win and a good save. Instead of being face down, his opponent would be indeed shocked to see that Kaine was on his hands and knees, both fist balled onto the surface of the ground and his knees upon the waters. At this point his heat cannon would be chambered, waiting for the trigger to be pulled to let it loose. His opponent probbally would be quite shocked to see that a kid could support someone double his weight.... One second, reports just came in that they were underwater. Thank the lord things were lighter under the water for despite the fact that Kaine could indeed lift two hundred and fifty pounds easily, he was too low on oxygen to do that with easy. That would be too much strain. However, he didnt stay on his hands and knees long, he would allow himself to fall towards his side with his back leaning towards the arena wall that was the closest to them.

It was at this point that the stab towards his head and the vice grip would incur upon his body. Well, the stab was pretty much good for nothing. It simply bounced off of the aura sheild but the pressure around his waist.... Bubbles poured from his mouth was air excaped from his lungs into the water putting him in a desperate situation. Hell, reflux was telling him breath, breath, breath, but he knew he couldnt. It was now or not at all.... Focus.... focus... focus... He had no more than about two seconds to do this before he would start to no longer be able to control his impulse to breath. [I know this because I have emptied my lungs underwater while being at my limit of air oxygen and I could stay down an additional two seconds or so before the impluse to breath was too strong.] Focusing on his aura he pushed it outwards as he forced it to outline his entire body then quickly and forcefully expand outwards. [For reference you can imagine a glowing outline that once covered the head and neck to quickly trace along his entire body before expanding outward.] At this point he doubted his opponent had enough physical strenght left due to lack of oxygen to keep the physical strain upon himself going to keep Kaine under if he was truely at his limitations. At anycase it would be similar to a pressurized explosion from his body outwards, without the boom or the bubbles. Now Kaine wasnt looking to completely break the hold. He was hopping that the sudden pressure would startle his opponent while opening his arms and legs wide enough to slip through. He was indeed a skinny child and he didnt take up much room at all. Even a little space would be enough. With the lock expanded with little trouble, his opponent was only using one hand, he slipped his head through while pullling his feet up towards himself placing himself into a fetal position. Instantly he floated upwards slightly due to the boyancy of his body despite the lack of air.... Air... Air. He needed some air. Instantly unscrunching his body shortly after pulling it into the fetal position, his face towards his opponent who would probbally have turned upon his stomach of back by now, he pointed his left fist downwards and pulled the trigger.

Heat cannon-

He launched a burst of heat and energy down towards his opponent, the recoil sending him upwards, while the burst would hit either the chest of the back of his opponent. Whether or not it would knock the air outta his opponent he didnt care. He just needed air. With the boost from his burst along with the frenzied thrashing of his legs and arms he made it to the surface while holding onto a smaller size of his aura to keep from easily being grabbed on the way up. Barely he made it. He swallowed some water on the way up which caused him to cough crazily as he hung onto the side of the arena with his hands, gulping sweet air. Thank god he was out of the situation. He would be able to tell whether or not his opponent was close behind.
