As you all know, Radio Frequency identification has been around for a long time, and can be of great assistance to tracking lost or stolen objects. RFID can also be used to track the flow of currency and goods across state and national borders, and to track vehicles, animals, and individuals who may suddenly decide to turn against the state.
There is a parallel movement going on and it appears to be two fold:
the first objective appears to involve interpretation of firearms. In a nutshell, if firearm possession requires you to join a military organization such as the national guard, then you must abide by the policies of the national guard, which of course may include RFID on your person at all times. I won't go into the implant theory at this time.
This plan to rewrite the firearms legislation will result in every registered citizen having to have an ID to own a firearm, or joining the military (which includes the ID).
The ID plan begins with simple ideas such as crossing the border without a passport with the new RFID passes. Simple enough - you have a tracking device installed in your ID and now you can go across the border with less hassle.
The next step is Voting, ala Indiana, if you don't have a legal form of ID, you cannot vote. Upgrade via regulations the level of security for the photo ID, and now you must have an RFID in order to vote, and an RFID in order to own a firearm.
I do not see it as important to address the other issues, such as the self check out machines or biometric vending at college campuses. I do not need to address local businesses that also take College IDs as a form of credit card, or the fact that my own ID and many of you have RFID technology that can both be hacked and deactivated remotely. I do not need to address the issue of my friend from Math class who was unable to check out a library book from our library because of a glitch in the RFID portion of his student ID, or how we are no longer able to enter several buildings without one.
I do not need to address the issue of the fact that I can simply bump into the scanner with my wallet still in my pants to unlock the door, or how no security personnel checks to see if I'm using a stolen ID.

Private companies using RFID, such as to track trucks, is fine. But when Government starts messing around with it, the inevitable result will be lost liberty. RFID could be used to track people who may turn againsty the state? That includes the entire Libertarian movemnent, which has ALREADY turned against the state through non-violent means. Every person who wishes to own a firearm needs to have an ID or join the Military? This is nothing, but a blatent call for disarming the citezenry in preparation for a totalarian regime. Quite frankly, Libertariansd should oppose any efforts of government to implent any form of RFID outside its own operation. Military, Secret Service, and Intelligence personell being required to have RFID is understandable. Needing one to exercise your right to vote or carry a firearm is unexcusable.

I don't know if we got around to an official letter of support but the LP of California did support CA Senate bills last year (It was a batch of them, 29-32 I think) sponsored by the ACLU that would have drastically limited RFID use. I think at least one passed but I'll be honest I forget which.

RFID!!! AHHH!!! It's the mark of the beast! Beware! The end is nigh!!!
Joking aside... way nutty Christians (I'm Catholic, so I'm not picking on Christians in general) consider things like RFID to be the mark of the beast. Also some suggest our social security numbers, credit card numbers, and other things like that to indicate the end times.
I think the end times will be when the Libertarians are the only ones with their candidate on the ballet for the general election... oh wait... crap... that one happened...

I agree. We should fight this wherever it shows up. RFID chips are a blatant invasion of privacy and an violation of our rights.
