So I've seen some bad documentaries in my time as a student. But today, I get to see one that takes the cake. In my Visual Rhetoric class, we are watching an ENTIRE documentary on the frickin' Helvetica typefont. How can anyone be this enthralled with one font? T______T
I get it...Helvetica is everywhere...it's the Times New Roman of advertising. But for the love of a merciful God!

I seriously think that my brain is melting out of my ears right now...

Anyways, what are your experience with documentaries? domokun

I made a documentary that aired on new york public tv a few times.
The crew consisted of me and me and me.

There was no b-roll or music.

.
.
.

If I could do it again, I'd definitely plan ahead a bit more.
But in it's current state, it's the most boring 8 minutes ever.

How the heck do you do a documentary on Helvetica?

"This is Helvetica. It is a nice pretty typefont. It's all bold and pretty. Some dude made it, because he found it looked nice. The end!"

I watch documentaries and such on the Discovery Channel and other places. Most of them have been pretty decent, but....

There was this one on chemtrails. Apparently, people believe that the contrails of some planes is part of a conspiracy theory, and that the government is tossing chemicals on everyone. It would have been kind of "Meh", if it didn't sound all dramatic and like every single contrail is evil. Personally, I think that some dude is just out flying his jet, and that the contrails are pretty.

Feel free to shout at me if I'm wrong, though. XD

ninja Got a brand new shipment of electrical equipment...

By creating "dramatic" sweeps and displaying it in an everyday lifestyle. At least, that's how you make it long enough to be a documentary. The other 99% of the movie is bullshit that can drive a sane person absolutely nuts. You can catch a glimpse of the insight at the end of that clip. XD!!

Seriously, the first half is talking about why Helvetica is so cool...
And the second half is about how Helvetica is the spawn of Satan. Dx
Meanwhile, I wanted to just get up and leave....

Psh, Helvetica, they should make a documentary on Times New Roman. That's a good two hours there.

Better yet a 4 hour in-depth documentary on the most epic font ever...Wingdings.

The MOST obnoxious and annoying and just plain old BORING documentary I can remember is March of the Penguins, in Spanish.

I went to see it while I was on Vacay and it was in Spanish, on the big screen, and I SWEAR I was there for 30 minutes TRYING to be interested, but I gave up, and said "THE HELL?? PENGUINS!???" and proceeded to walk out and ask for my money back, then I went to see another movie, but I forgot which one it was.
