So i have been thinking about the military (marines specifically) for a career and way for college. i really really want to serve my country and grow and find myself in the process. the military just seems so right for me whatever branch and occupation i find. ive been set on this for a while but my parents dont seem to happy about it. theyd rather have me be a priest or something. i also want to further my soccer career and my musical career with my band. there are so many things and now that sophmore year is at a close i need to start picking one and working towards it. PLEASE IF YOU CAN GIVE ANY ADVICE IT WOULD BE AWESOME!

Find out more information about the military and where you want to be stationed, what you want out of the military, what you're hoping to accomplish during their training and years, and what you plan to give up to join them.
It's a big decision. But it's your decision to make. I'm sure it's because your parents are just worried about you, but if you can research and convince them that you've thought the whole thing through and give them more information on what you want... then eventually they'll give. It's quite understandable for them to be worried with the goals that you've picked for yourself... my family was the same way, even though I never wanted to be military.
As for your soccer and musical career... work hard! Prove to them that you can do it! Be recommended for nationals or something and be scouted. For music, get better and do some small gigs... those are all things you can do that aren't detrimental to your schooling.
Just have a backup plan. 3nodding I think on the most part, that's all parents really want from you.

i think you should go for the marines. you have ur whole life a head of you.
then you could be a musician for a bit, then a preist and then play soccor

If you want to go for then go ahead, but scope it out first. Make sure you know a lot about it and then talk to some recruiters to get a first hand experience about the military. I know a senior that is going to try to become a marine, he runs three miles a day on the track and then walks home which is quite far from school.
make sure you're in good phsyical condition, even though i'm suspecting b/c of the soccer thing you may already be in good condition.
You can do the military thing and after persue your musical and soccer career, but make sure to keep up practice with those so you don't lose your skill.

Most schools have recruiters in them. At least where I live they do.

Talk to anyone but a recruiter!!!! Please, all they do is tell you the good and lies. Their goal is total crap, they only want your name on the paper and then you are stuck for 4 and some years depending on your choice. Talk to a Marine, who is out now, but not a recruiter!
