He had hoped that getting away to think for a bit would do him some good; that he would be able to find something about his current situation to be satisfied with. It hadn't. He wasn't. There was absolutely nothing good about this and it was, truthfully, one of the last things that he wanted to be thinking about... His mate off with another lion. Idiot.
He wasn't sure just how far he'd wandered by this point. There had been low grass, tall grass and a bit of medium grass somewhere in between. There had been one tree, several rocks and a water hole that seemed almost dried up.
"Why won't it rain?" He growled in the general direction of the sky, staring up at the cloudless stretch of blue. Nothing. Nothing.

Wandering, walking, oh and more grass. Just what she wanted. Ahh well, as long as she was moving she was bound to get back to the jungle eventually! She just wanted it to be a closer eventually than a further off eventually. She was tired of all this open space and empty open space for that matter.
She smelled a bit of water not too far off and headed in that direction. She could use a drink now that the sun had warmed up the land considerably. She'd been well on her way to thinking she'd have a nice peaceful day until she heard a growl rumbling far too close to her.
Hunkering down in the grass she inched her way toward the edge of the tall grass. A lion, a rather peeved lion on that, at least he didn't look like a hungry peeved lion.
"It never rains when you want it to. Only when you want to be dry."

He turned, teeth bared at the sound of the voice interrupting his thoughts, hiding behind dark lips once more only as he took a step back. "It is more that it needs to rain than that I want it to. I know well enough that the gods rarely see things the same way that I do... And are willing to give in to my desires less than that." He snorted softly as he shook his head. "If you're looking for water there isn't much there and what is there is a bit murky... Although it's better than nothing."

"It's not -that- bad yet." She sat up and walked over to peer into the murky pond. She certainly didn't want to taste grit for the rest of the day. Once you got sand like that in there it just didn't come out.
"Why do you need it to rain? You could just go somewhere that it rains more and then you wouldn't have that problem."

"I don't need it to rain... The earth does." He shook his head, resisting the urge to roll his eyes as he made his way around to the opposite side of the water hole. "The grasses are dry and when the grasses are dry there's more of a chance for fires. The sun has been very hot and most of the herds are moving elsewhere. As for going elsewhere? I go nowhere that my mate does not."

He had a point she supposed. The earth did need it to rain but she didn't think grumping about it would do any good. You just moved off somewhere that was greener instead. Wasn't that what everyone die?
"Have you told your mate about going some else then? You could always ask her if she wanted to go someone greener. Or tell her that you want to go." She smiled brightly at the lion. "She'd go there just to make you happy."

"We were in the process of wandering towards greener land but... Something came up." He said the last bit almost flatly, gazing down at what little of his reflection he could see in the murky water before him. "You certainly have a bright outlook on things, don't you."

The lion seemed a bit downtrodden over whatever it was that had come up to stop he and his mate from moving on. Hopefully it wasn't something too horrible.
"Why not have a sunny outlook? Makes everything seem a bit brighter." She nodded and got up to move a bit closer to the water. If he was going to hurt her she was sure he'd have done it by now. "Besides, if i'm happy that means i can make other people happy"

"Either that or you can get on their nerves. Not everyone enjoys the sun, you know." He smirked as he looked up to the female, tail swishing slowly behind him. "You sound a bit like her, you know... My mate. She likes to try and see the brighter side of things. I keep waiting for that to get us into trouble of some sort."

"I just stay away from those kinds of others." Or at least she tried to. She wasn't all that good at figuring out others but she hadn't gotten into trouble yet. She was still in once piece and happy.
"It's only ever gotten me into the good sort of trouble." her ears flickered slightly as her tail curled around one of her paws. "So it should only get her in that kind of trouble too."

"The good kind of trouble?" His brow lofted slightly. "And how does one tell the good from the bad? I guess I just don't see things that way. Trouble is trouble and it's rarely, if ever, something that you want to be in... Unless you seek thrills, which I don't." Maybe he had when he was younger... But not now. Not after the things he had gone through.

"So long as it ends up with you being somewhere you want to be and happy then it's good trouble." She nodded firmly. Leaving her birth place had been bad trouble at first but she'd met some nice others along the way and so she was starting to call it good trouble now.

"I don't think I will ever understand that particular mindset." He shook his head as he sat back on his haunches. "That isn't 'good trouble' that's the end of trouble. Trouble isn't it a good thing... Especially not when it seems to follow you in one way or another."

"No that's good trouble." She laughed slightly as she got up to wander about the small clearing a bit. "You just have to make the best of what you have. If you can do that then there's nothing wrong with where you are or where you're going."
She didn't really like that she was still out in all this open grassland but she knew she'd get to the jungle eventually. She'd met some nice friends a long the way too even.

"How, pray tell, is it 'good'?" His brow lofted as he looked to her. "No rain, dry grass, obnoxious lions appearing to distract one's mate... Tell me, how is that good?" He snorted as he shook his head, eying the small bird that had landed just to the side of the water hole. It was too small to really make much of anything out of.
