I would like to debate this with some of you in here, hopefully in an intelligent, civilized, manner. Why is it considered wrong to have sex for money or goods? You can have all the sex you want for free, but the moment that you put any sort of price on it, it is wrong and illegal. It is one of the world's oldest professions, it is never going to go away no matter what we do, and making it illegal makes it easy for pimps to come in and mistreat the 'working girls and boys'.
In the state of Nevada it has been legalized. They have a doctor come around about once a week and check the girls for STDs and STIs of any sort, do pregnancy tests and the whole nine yards. The girls, (and/or boys) have brothels that they can work from, that are safe and clean, for them and the customers, they do not have to do anything that they don't want to do, and they can earn a living wage.

I think it should be legalized for certain people only. In fact I think that, like driving, there should be an age limit occompanied with a lisense saying that the prostitute in question is registered and that the last time said prostitute had an exam, she or he has been proven to be STD free. Along with that I believe he or she should be required to take monthly STD exams as well as other health exams.
License One must be 21 and above. One must be tested for STDs (and passing) for up to, at most, one week before the license is distributed. One must be mentally well.
But that's just my opinion.

Certainly there should be an age limit, although I think 18 a more appropriate age, but as of now that's just an opinion and no one is voting on it. Also, the exams are another must. Didn't think of mental health though. That is a very good idea, these men and women probably should under go a a psych exam to make sure that they do not currently or most likely won't suffer from any mental problems.

I beleve that prostitution is for women who are not secure within... They must be lacking the ability to beleve that letting a man (or women) become one with them is sacred!!! And not a job!! That is why it is illegal and that is why there are so many young childern becoming prostatutes! They are simply lacking love!!! And what about the drugs and abuse that would come with it!! Rape, Alcoholism, mental and physical abuse!!! It is soooooo wrong! I know it wont go away but at least i know that i beleve having sex is sacred!!!! We need to bring back the chasity belt!!! And give the key to someone you marry not to get money!!! Remember our bodys are holy and what we do with them projects our soul!!!!!

I disagree with you putting the age limit at 18 as a womans cervix doesn't mature until 19 or 20. If a woman has sex before her cervix is mature then she puts herself at risk for cervixal cancer, therefore 21 would be a better limit. The rest of all in the first two posts I agree with.

Legalize it, its been around since humans have been around. Its a natural tendency, and if nothing else it is a way to make a living. Legalizing it would also make it more safe. If it were to be legalized the government could impose manditory testing for aids/other stds, and the prostitutes could get health insurance to deal with problems like if they get pregnant or something. There is absolutely no reason why it shouldn't be legal. Moral values should not be legislated, end of.

Smoking can give you cancer...and that's legal. It should only be against the law if its hurting someone else. Hurt yourself? That's your choice.

I would stand in line for this
I personally have no grief with prostitution since I've never prostituted myself or had my husband go to one.
I don't agree with street walkers who will sell themselves for fifteen bucks to the first person because that is a very good way to get STDs, STIs and|or killed. I personally think the idea of brothels where the workers must undergo tests often and use proper protection is a better idea. At least the visitor would be more unlikely to get some kind of disease.
I also think that the women or men who work in the brothels must be a certain age and under drug tests as well. Drug use is a major problem among prostitutes.

I think it should be legalized. And if it is legal then it can be taxable income. And 21 is a great age. Old enough to drink and old enough to have sex with pro. works

It's the individual's choice. Sure, there are the cases that they were forced into it, and I feel for them, but overall it doesn't concern me in the least. When it becomes a major issue, I may have more of an opinion, but not right now. Besides, it's not legal in California, even though it may happen.

I think it should be legalized but should have rules and regulations just like every other trade job. Then they bring up the point of how would you regulate it. Go to a good place and make sure they have certs or something saying there ok. You could get some guy down the street to fix your pipes but you know its going to get messed up so you wouldn't just go to any woman on the streets because your pipe might fall off.

OK, here's what I think: there are three people involved in something like this; the prostitute, the whoremonger, and the customer. If the prostitute wants to be a prostitute, let them, and if the customer wants to buy, let THEM. Both the prostitute and the customer know the risks involved and hopefully, both are mature and willing. If the prostitute has no problem with it, then why should we? I am, however, against prostitution in the following circumstances: 1) The prostitute is not willing, because that's rape. 2) The prostitute, the customer, or both are married. 3) The customer is high, drunk, or both. 4) The whoremonger is not giving the prostitute enough money to get out of that career if the prostitute chooses to.
