Plaxico says "We will win, 27-17"
Brady's reaction. "We're only going to score 17 points?" Brady said before chuckling about it. "OK. Is Plax playing defense? I wish he had said 45-42 and gave us a little credit for scoring more points."
Plaxico reacts with... "I don't understand what the fuss is about," Burress said, surrounded by at least as many TV cameras, microphones and notepads as Brady was two hours earlier. "Nobody wants to lose.
"All this is entertainment," added Burress, who was held out of practice Wednesday because of an ankle injury that has plagued him all season. "It's sports, and sports are entertainment. So 23-17 is the prediction I made, but the game still has to be played."
Plax says the Giants will win.. I think they will.. Do you?" Yes, i've said this paragraph thing before. But the Patriots scored LESS than Plax predicted. And Tom Brady scoffs at it? HA. All season, the talk around the NFL was about whether the Patriots were the greatest team of all time. Turns out they weren't even the best team Sunday. mrgreen I am so happy, but sorry to the REAL Patriot fans. neutral

How can it be an upset if almost more than half football fans were wanting the Giants to win...?

Point spread. That's why it's an upset. Lol. 12 point underdogs against an 18-0 team. I'm sure that's an upset.

Actually, David Tyree caught the one against his helmet, but Toomer made his share of plays in the game as well. Anyone notice how Eli looked more like a complete quarterback, like a Tarkenton almost? Being able to scramble away from huge losses and get the play off on the run? Yeah, he'll improve. He's got confidence now.

The answer is found the way you said it. There is a difference between wanting a team to win, and believing they can win. I wanted the Giants to win. Heck I even betted on the Giants, which I was criticized for and called an idiot at work for it. But overall, the Patriots were 12 point favorites, one of the largest margins for a favorite team in Superbowl history. So many people predicted the Patriots would win, and with a win over the Giants in the regular season, an 18-0 record, the #1 seeded team vs. the #5 seeded team, where the AFC has won 6 of the last 7 superbowls, you can see why they were heavily favorites. And that is why it was an upset. People wanted the Giants to win, but with all those facts and stats against them, the Patriots by far were the favorites. And most people didn't believe they could do it.

Well if you watched any of the Patriot games later in the season you could see that the NFL wanted them to win. That was the biggest thing to get by. But the referees couldn't and shouldn't give the super bowl to a team based on what is better for the NFL. Also the way to beat the pats was out there for anyone to see...just had to figure out a stage where the referees couldn't give an edge and put the right personel in the right place. Also, if you look at the way the Giants started to click as a team and started to work for the team to do well and risk their selves to make thing work. They also had two weeks to prepare. And stats don't tell stories...trust me... And yes the AFC is a generally harder hitting and stronger side of the Superbowl at least for recent years but that doesn't mean they are going to win every game. So yes the media all said that the patriots were going to win...but that kept you watching not wanting to miss the possible perfect season, the best team ever winning it all. I can't help that apparently the people betting are dumb followers of the media. Now did I know the Giants were going to win, no because every game is not just based on the talent of the players but something more. So yes if you look only at records its an upset. But and upset makes it a better story...so the media is going to make it an amazing upset of the perfect team...but it was believeable that they could win and anyone that looked at the teams coming out or looked at the real games that got them there could see that the Giants had a great chance.

Eh, I missed some of the game because it should be illegal how much of a guitar hero addict I am, but I only missed halftime and about 3 mins of the third quarter. I wasn't really psyched, I'm not a fan of either team.
