***I decided to make this as a regular thread in the D as well as an announcement in the main, because I dont always read announcements in the main, or notice them in the D, and this is an important one and I don't want people who are like me with announcement reading to miss it.
So I totally made this video for I Am Me, right? And I totally announced something in the video that I should REALLY be announcing in here instead. So I decided that while I was going to wait a while to announce this I'll just go ahead and do it now instead.
I'm resigning as your captain.
On Feb 1st I will have been captain of this guild for 1 year. And 1 year is a long time to have been in charge. In the beginning of being captain I was REALLY REALLY into it. I loved it (and REALLY HATED it too) and tried my hardest to make this guild the best it could be. I worried about the guild and its problems a lot and did all I could think of to solve them. I had tons of ideas on how to make the guild better and put them into effect. I also listened to other SG'ers opinions and tried to put their ideas into effect too.
After a while though I kind of ran out of steam and lost my passion. I just sit here now and let the guild keep going. I dont have any more ideas. I've grown content. And thats no good.
I've always said you can never know how good something can be until you try it. And for almost a year now we havent tried anything new when it comes to leadership. I mean we've had one crew change, but thats it. I'm sure there are people out there not content with the guild. I'm sure there are people out there who have ideas. Who think they can make the guild even better then it is today. Who can make it even more active, fun, and happy. And yet while I'm sitting here being captain they dont have the chance to make the changes that can make this guild a 100 times better. And that is so not cool. So its going to change.
There will be NO requirements as to who can run for captain. You can be new. You can be old. You can be active. You can be a lurker. It doesnt matter. If you feel you have it in you to make the guild a better place and you want to do it, run.
There will also be no format towards running. Unlike crew elections where all you do is fill out a questionnaire and thats it, there will be no assigned questionnaire in this election. You have to put yourself out there on your own. So make threads, make your own debates with other runners, talk to people in towns, cards, pms. Remember, the more you get out there, the better chance you have at winning. Being captain takes a LOT of initiative. If I had sat there and didnt do anything on my own when I started being captain we would still be in the old guild. Or not here at all. You cant be babied and have this election made for you - make it yourself.
One thing I ask of new captains is to let me stay on as V.C. But dont make me do any work. I think I've done enough for this guild to be able to be V.C as an honor, not as a job.
New captain elections will take place January 26th through January 30th. The guild will change hands Feb 1st.
