Was browsing arounf the Partry website yesterday, and I came across a brief mention of Liberty dollars, specifically, the FBI raid on their headquarters. I can't believe I haven't heard of them before, but now my question is, can anyone fill me in on how to get in on this private currency? Also, would anyone care to discuss pros and cons of the Liberty dollar? I think its a wonderful idea myself. If anyone can tell me how I mght get some Liberty dollars, please let me know.

well, this is New Data to me as well. and Data is as valuable an asset as gold itself. I Decided to hop on over to wikipedia (as opposed to rolling or crawling, as i usually do), and check it out

In all technicality, NORFED (the company that distributes liberty dollars), is not, as far as i can tell, in violation of any laws. they have (or rather, had, until "Uncle Sam" the crook stole it from them) Silver, Gold, and Platinum Stored to back their currency. the charges brought against them were Money Laundering, Wire Fraud, Mail Fraud, Counterfeiting, and Conspiracy, none of which they are guilty of.

For this, you must look at the definition of each crime
Money Laundering - The process of offloading illegally obtained monies, and making them come in at a more believable rate, so as not to look suspicious, in effect "cleaning" the money of the crime it might have been associated with.

Wire/Mail Fraud is currently defined in the united states code as: Whoever, having devised or intending to devise any scheme or artifice to defraud, or for obtaining money or property by means of false or fraudulent pretenses, representations, or promises, transmits or causes to be transmitted by means of wire, radio, or television communication in interstate or foreign commerce, any writings, signs, signals, pictures, or sounds for the purpose of executing such scheme or artifice, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both. If the violation affects a financial institution, such person shall be fined not more than $1,000,000 or imprisoned not more than 30 years, or both.
This was not the intent of NORFED, and they are thus not guilty of Wire and/or mail fraud

Counterfeiting - A counterfeit is an imitation that is made usually with the intent to deceptively represent its content or origins. The word counterfeit most frequently describes forged currency or documents.
Prior to government seizure of their commodity assets, NORFED was not guilty of counterfeiting.

Conspiracy - an agreement between natural persons to break the law at some time in the future

IS NORFED guilty of ANY of these crimes? negative.

By contrast, let us look at the Federal Reserve, which I'll debunk in a different order:
1. Counterfeiting - Imitation, not exactly, but the contents AND origins of the united states dollar is deceptively represented with every single bill and coin minted. the Federal Reserve is NOT a federal Agency, and the money is backed by absoultely nothing other than the concept of demand for it.

2. wire/mail fraud - every transfer of the united states dollar is essentially fraudulent, as there is NOTHING backing the currency. your money is either worthless paper and metal, or a meaningless number in some greedy corporation's database, whose supposed value is controlled by this non-government agency, this "Federal Reserve"

3. Conspiracy - The rise of the federal reserve was the result of a large conspiracy back in the 20's that resulted in the market crash of '29, the great depression of the 30s, which eventually resulted in the Gold Seizure of 1933, where the government took all of its solid commodity assets back from the people. You can thank Franklin D Roosevelt for that one.

4. Money Laundering - all of the aforementioned crimes committed by the federal reserve have resulted in them having enormous amounts of money. their only way to make it appear legal was to make it appear as if it wasn't coming from them. The money is loaned out to the US Government AT INTEREST, and the US Government has to pay off this interest (which is not very likely to happen any time soon). The Federal Reserve Act was passed in 1913 establishing the Federal Reserve as the official Central Bank of the United states. It should come as no surprise that that VERY SAME YEAR was when the 16th amendment, legalizing taxation of income by the government, was passed, in effect creating an endless cycle of money for the Federal Reserve. Money... backed by nothing.

if the liberty dollar is a crime, then Monopoly money is also illegal, and so are american puchinko machines, coin collecting, and Casino chips. Also Disney dollars, macy money, and gift cards.

this is clearly a response to failure of the American dollar, the popularity of quasi libertarian Ron Paul, and the lack of faith libertarian ideals inspire in the current establishment.
