Two kinds of perfects in the NFL. 16-0. 0-16. Neither will happen this year.

- The Patriots are not going 16-0. Pretty much one thing stands in their way. The Colts. The defending Super Bowl champs will beat them this Sunday, in a great showdown of the unbeatens. Sure they have a great offense, and Brady still will probably break a lot of records (along with Moss, and team scoring/yds records), but a loss to the Colts will make them happy as the #2 seed in the AFC (and probably all of the NFL). Both offenses should perform well on Sunday, but you gotta take the defending Champions, at home, with a slight edge on defense. Tough matches to come include the Ravens, Steelers, and Giants.

- The Colts will go perfect...until they clinch a first round bye, and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Dungy is probably the best and smartest coach in the league, and will rest his starters and not risk injuries, so the Colts are acceptably prone to slip 1 or 2 at seasons end. On the other end of the table, the Patriots would have probably gone for the perfect 16-0 if they had beaten the Colts in Week 9. After last weeks contrevercial win in Washington, I had doubts about the coaching. I have no problem with piling-on the points. This a business where you need to make yourself heard, and a man's game where you have to deal with a 45+ point defeat. But...why rush Brady into the endzone twice, pass in the second half, go for 4th downs, and not run the ball nearly at all? Bellicheck should explain why he really took the risk to players getting injured in a game they won after the first quarter. Especially Brady, who is having a hall-of-fame perfect season. Do notice that the Colts have played (and beaten) against every team in their division, on the road so far. Tough matches to come include the Chargers, Cheifs, Jaguars, and Ravens.

- The Dolphins are under-rated a tad bit. They lost veteran QB Trent Green and one of the most productive RB's in the league in Ronnie Brown, both for the entire season. But Cleo Lemon is doing a pretty good job managing the offense, passing, and rushing out of pressure. Jesse Chatman is filing in very well for Brown, and even has a greater yards per carry than Ronnie. The Miami defense isn't playing horrible, and do notice that they have physically been in and close, in a lot of their games. Don't forget, the Dolphins play the Jets this year, (a probable win), play the up-and-down Bills twice (though they are pretty good), and also could manage a win against the Bengals.

- The Rams may be the most dissapointing of all teams thus far. 0-8 is extremely uncharacteristic of a team which did fairly well last season. Despite their defense being horrible, they managed to get close last week. About 3 close games all season. A bye should have them looking semi-sharp, and may even start up on a little roll. Who's back? They bye brings back a healthy Steven Jackson and Bulger. Bulger can be one of the most accurate QBs in the league, and when 100%, torry holy and isaac bruce can do serious damage. Steven Jackson had a great year last year, and is not a stud. Injuries have plagued him, and after last week, he can be back on track after a bye to heal his injured groin. He can be one of the most complete backs in the league, to run, catch, and pass-block. As long as St. Louis' offense does well, it should over-under the mishaps of their defense. Do notice that the Rams go into the second-half of the season, a bit easier. Look for possible wins against the 49er's, Falcons, Bengals, and possibly Cardinals.

...so overall, i see no perfects this year, and I think this is the longest ever into an NFL season (8 weeks in), that there were 4 teams "perfect." Although it seems probable for the two winning teams, what are sports without upsets and surprises?

As great as the Patriots are, I think the Steelers can handle them at home, with their top-ranked defense. They may be my pick for the Superbowl though, assuming they have home-field and a 1st round bye.

Would be interesting to see the Pat 16-0 and Miami 0-16.

if that was true, then two things would be ironic

1) the miami dolphins went undefeated a season in 1972.

2) both the patriots and dolphins are in the same lopsided division.

Patriots are going 16-0, and making it all the way to the Superbowl, Eventually winning it.

Dolphins will go 0-16 cause they cant play worth carp this year.

Colts already lost 2 games in a row, which was kinda weird.

And Rams beat the Saints.

So, there will be 1 team 16-0........And 1 team 0-16.

...um...no.

Colts lost 2, not perfect. Rams just won, not perfect.

The Dolphins play the Jets, who are the second worst team in the NFL. They play the Jets at home in miami, and only lost to them by 3 last game. Chapman and Cleo Lemon are actually playing prety well, and as you saw yesterday, their defense has gotten better.

Tough games that Patriots will face are @ buffalo, @ baltimore, hosting pittsburg, and @ NYG. They are bound to sliup up against one of those teams.

I hope Miami eventually wins a game this season. I fel sorry for them. I like the Dolphins, too. I hope they get some good drafts and bounce back next year.
