Vuvimoto was out on patrol again - when not hunting he was usually out strolling and just checking out how things were out in their territory. The charcoal and red Firekin moved easily across the desert sands. He'd not always lived here, being raised during the Plague away from the lands, but Vuvi knew them well now. He'd been back many seasons now and it was in his Blood he guessed.

The adult moved across the familiar sands it had been a while. These lands were the place where her life had changed, how she had got away from here she didn't know in fact she couldn't remember much of what happened. She remembered a male and his teeth in her sides and that was it, she must have blacked out or something. She would never know.
Now she was back, she had seen her brother and learnt that he existed along with another brother named Ewanisha, she was glad to hear her mother was well though she knew nothing of her full blood brother but she would find out about him one day, now however she wanted to fill in the blanks in her memory. She didn't know much about this pride as she had never learnt the name when she had been here and though of course she had heard of the firekin she hadn't linked it together.
She wasn't expecting to see many lions here, in fact she would have been shocked if she had. After walking so far into the desert she couldn't help but wonder if she would ever find her way back. It looked almost impossible, the surroundings were identical no matter what direction you looked in. Maybe this hadn't been a good idea after all.

To the Firekin male, the lands weren't at all identical but held a beautiful sort of patterning. Dune after dune after dune lay in waves and ridges. And here and there were clues to the way. A rock. A drift of sand out of line with the others. A bleached skeleton. He'd never get lost out here...it even calmed his mind...
So when he saw the brilliant red rise over a dune before him and slide-walk down, then rise again it was a bit of a wake up. He didn't known another Firekin was out here! And he'd never seen a single rogue himself that had been the red of the Blood. Well, he'd once had a sister who'd been abandoned out in the roguelands, but of all his siblings the red was the one Vuvi reckoned had died. The others maybe not.
Anyway. He kept his steady pace. Soon enough he'd meet the lioness at any rate.

As she saw a figure over the dunes she stopped, her heart was racing as a sudden memory flashed before her from when she was a cub but she had many memories she wished to come back and so she swallowed her fear. She would try and get what she could from this lion, wiggle her way into the pride and rekindle the lost memories before leaving. Oh if only life was that easy.
She wasn't going to start talking to him, he could start the conversation in fact she decided to completely ignore him and to pretend she hadn't even seen him. She carried on walking, trying not to slip on the sand, it was such a strange feeling under her paws from the hard ground she was use to. That would have to change but for now she would need to keep up the act.

As he got closer, Vuvi knew he hadn't seen this female around the lands before. And hat's more, she was very pretty. Vuvimoto did have a slight weakness for beautiful females, and though he had been relieved to find that Firekin females weren't stupid, he'd had no luck with them. None had appealed when he'd grown out of his teenage enthusiasm to find a good girl to the cubmaking. It did mean he'd studied all the girls closely for a while tough and he knew all the Firekin females by sight at the least. But he hadn't seen this one before, so...
That made her a rogue - though red rogues he'd never seen - or a lost Firekin member. A traitor if they'd stayed away...but hadn't his own family once stayed away for fear of the plague? Only he had returned and only as an adult and he had not been punished after that meeting with Sundya. Maybe this red female had a good reason. She'd better.
"Hello. Might I know you name?" He asked politely as he drew nearer to her.

She tensed a little, trying to keep herself as calm as she could but yet something inside her was telling her to get out as soon as she could. She couldn't leave though, her curiosity was too great and she knew a little of the firekins though she still hadn't clicked that this was indeed that pride. She was related to the firekins, distantly.
"Saburi." Her voice was a little shakey but she managed to keep it together enough to hopefully get away with it. Her nerves had to be kept at bay. If she could get this one on her side, maybe just maybe she could wiggle herself in.
"Your name is?" She was slowly growing in confidence, but it was very slowly. Oh how she wished she could curl under a rock away from this meeting and the hot sun on her back that seemed to be watching her for the slightest mistake. Everything seemed vicious out here, or maybe it was just because she was nervous, either way it made her uneasy.

Patience? He wasn't an expert on names and Firekin didn't always have fire-related names, but still. That wasn't a likely name for one of the Blood. He swished his tail-tip behind him, curious. If she was a rogue she was a stupid one, blessed with red, white and black though she was.
Intriguing.
"I am Vuvimoto, a hunter of the Firekin. What brings you here?" He tried to put a bit more bite in the demand but it didn't work. He was too curious to be the snarling Firekin guard so many rogues expected and found.

She nodded her head keeping calm. The Firekin? Well that explained a lot though she had to do some very quick thinking, she was at least partially related to the pride.
"Did you know of a Wekundu'moto? He was my grandfather, I was hoping to learn more about him and of this Pride. He left because of a great plague and while living as a rogue he and his mate had my mother and she in turn had me and my brother though I do not know where he is. She continued the stories of the pride and I believed it to be nothing of a story that lions used to cast fear into their cubs, so I set out to find if this pride was real and as to why we never returned to it." Yes she was coming out all at once but she was holding herself proud and though she was scared for her life she held herself together.
She couldn't do much but hope he would believe her. She spoke the truth though she hinted her grandmother was a firekin she couldn't remember, it was possible but it escaped her. She probably wasn't as it was only her grandfather she could remember. If there were any gods out there she was praying to them now that they would spare her life.

"I do not know him, but I recognise the name. You're fortunate you cannot be held accountable for not returning to the pride sooner, since it's your grandparents who left, though for a good reason. My own parents had to and I couldn't return until recently myself."
He brightened and offered a charming smile. So! She was seeking the truth behind her bloodline? Then she'd found something impressive, something grand. The Firekin! Though it amused Vuvi that they were a story to scare bad cubs, he was happy to find out she was of the Blood. Part rogue maybe, she'd not mentioned her father, but to have sought them out...
"As it is, I'll keep an eye on you and teach you what you should know. You're one of the Blood, a great pride, Saburi. The gods help you if you're lying and Finar-si preserve you if you are not."

If she believed she wouldn't be killed for it she would have let out a huge sigh of relief but as it were she held it back. She didn't want to show any fear, especially now she knew who the pride were. Even if she did have their blood running in her veins she had heard such cruel stories of them that she wished to never meet them, oh well she had now.
"Thank you Vuvimoto, I had no knowledge of this pride being existent it seemed just a story that had spread to many prides, and all used to scare cubs into behaving. It's understandable why I had my doubts but I am glad to have found it is true and most grateful for your hospitality. I will be thankful for anything you teach me." Ugh she sounded so posh. Maybe she was making too much of an effort, she didn't know and wouldn't know. She just had to keep an act up and that was it. At least until she was a little known in the pride and could mould herself to fit in a little better. This would be hard work and all for a memory, and her curiosity!

"Ah, we flourish out herein the desert where no one else can - but have we grown so secluded we're nelt but stories..." He shook his head. It was funny but kind of sad. Their reputation was good. Scary, powerful but untrue? How dire! Still, not the time to wax poetic about the state of the pride, outside or within.
"At least some good has come of it! It's brought you here." Vuvi gestured with his head the way he'd come. "Come, I'll take you to one of the waterholes. There's not too many out here and it'll be a refreshing place to talk."

Saburi was a little worried about being somewhere that might well bring her to meet others but then again at the same time it was probably better that she did that with Vuvi first then on her own. At least she had protection, or thats how she viewed it anyway.
How long could she keep this up for? Well she would have to try as much as she could, after all she had to learn the ways of the pride to find the lion who caught her when she was a cub. She wasn't happy with this gap in her ming.
"That sounds lovely." She smiled trying to ignore the comment of her being here. She knew she would blush if she thought about it too much. He was so charming.

He smiled and graciously waited for her to fall into step with him after motioning the way with a quick nod of his head. They could talk as they walked.
"First lesson of life in our desert - you must learn where the dens are and the waterholes in relation to them and each other. Some dry up in the hottest season and if you get utterly lost..." Well. The consequences weren't just dire, they were fatal. Dehydration was a killer though Vuvi had never heard of a Firekin dying of it. Rogues and prey who got lost out here yes. But the cubs of the pride were taught this swiftly.
"I'll teach you that and some tricks though, so you'll be always be safe."

Saburi listened and nodded as he spoke. It was clear what he said was vital, if she couldn't find water she would die and she didn't wish to die, far from it. She was happy alive even if by just living in this pride it meant that she was minutes from death upon meeting more of the pride.
"I understand and thank you." She smiled, he was such a gentleman, it confused her somewhat that someone here would be so well nice. It seemed strange really.
