It hadn't been nearly as painful as she had expected it would be, and perhaps that was due to her excessive paranoia of just how painful the birthing might be in the first place. But all was done and it was over with. Her body was sore, but pleasantly happy and thin once again, though she couldn't quite get over the feeling yet that her little ones were now no longer inside of her. Over the term of the pregnancy, Pakpao, along with Kuval's help, had gotten over the fact that she was 'fat', and instead spent her time enjoying the realization that she was now a mother to be. Yes, it still scared her, this parenting role in which she was thrown into, but it was exciting at the same time.

She let out a happy sigh as she nuzzled over the three clam shells Kuval and herself had picked out to hold the foals in, to protect them until they had grown enough to survive living in the outside world. He was in for quite the surprise when he returned to their little cavern home!

Kuval had felt awful for leaving Pakpao for a few days. It wasn't supposed to be like that, but he was stopped in finding Angathi, and he had to deal with THAT Kelpi for a vast amount of time. Apparently he was a father as well, and it was shocking information for the goofy stallion. So much was happening lately, that it was all to complicated to handle!

But anyhow, when he was finally free from the grasps of the crazy stallion, Kuval found himself swimming quickly to their new home. It was a nice area, he really grew quite fond of it. He was sure he would get back and Pakpao would be hungry, so he would have to go back out and find her something to eat. He would NOT expect to see that everything had happened already! He really was in for quite a surprise. When he was getting closer, he yelled out to her. "Hun, I'm homeee!!"

Pakpao gave a small chuckle at the silliness of the stallion. Throughout the entire pregnancy he had been such a support to her, always looking after her and caring for her. She knew he had had a caring side to him long before she wound up pregnant, but this new responsible side of him was a treat to experience as well. He had grown noticeably responsible, but at the same time still remained the silly, adorable goofball she had come to appreciate. Yes, she still could find herself frustrated with his peppy optimistic side, but for the most part, accepted what he said and enjoyed his pleasant company. It wouldn't be far from the truth for her to admit that she had missed him during the time he had been away, and she hoped dearly he wouldn't grow upset that he hadn't been there for the birthing.

"I'd watch your step if I were you..." she called back out, a grin spread wide across her lips.

Watch his step...?

And bang, it hit him. The shells they had picked out, the fact that her belly looked as though it was at its limit last time he had seen her..

His body was moving as quickly as it could now, and before he knew it, he was standing, and looking down at Pakpao, who was curling around the three shells. THREE Shells. Three children! He was panting, and was almost out of breath from moving so quickly and being so excited. "Holy crap."

The children were literally in front of him, sleeping comfortably in their shells. "No way, Pakpao are you alright?!" he looked at her frantically, feeling AWFUL that he had missed everything.

She broke out into a giggle, then quickly stifled it as to not wake the little ones. Her mind seemed to draw back to them with every thing she did... perhaps she was getting used to being a mother sooner than she thought!

His expression was priceless, and her grin grew wider. He was so lovable, even in his panicked state. "I'm fine, Kuval," she whispered quietly in return, motioning with her head for him to come closer, "I'd have been embarrassed had you been around during it anyways. Quite a mess, so I'm glad you get to see them now instead of then. I don't think you could have stomached it, really."

She hoped her expression looked sincere enough, because she was being bluntly honest with him. For such a reclusive mare, a moment such as that would have been embarrassing for her to perform in front of anyone, even the Father of the foals himself. "But that's in the past, and you should focus on the present, right? Just look at them... oh, Kuval, they're gorgeous!"

He remained quiet as she spoke, and was just glad to hear that the -process- had been alright. He really knew nothing about what Pakpao went through, so it probably was better that he wasn't there spazzing. "As I said, I am just glad you are alright."

He was full of smile, and as he sniffed at the three shells, he felt a wonderful feeling drift into his stomach. "Well of course they are gorgeous! What else would you expect from us?" He raised his head and gleamed at her, before nuzzled her nose softly. "How wonderful.. three little ones. I wonder if there will be boys, or girls.. or both!"

Kuval didn't have a good childhood himself, so he decided that he wanted to make his children's lifestyles more fun and lively. "I have no doubts that we will raise them well. They will be honorable Kelpi, that will roam around the ocean freely." As long as they didn't hang around with land dwellers too much, Kuval knew he would be satisfied with anything.

Hehehe. She was tempted to tell him, since she had caught a glimpse of their genders when she had gently nudged them into their temporary homes, but she soon decided against it. She'd let him wonder, and get a good surprise once they were finally ready to come out. Pakpao herself hadn't been able to get a good look at any of them, trying to put them in shells while waiting for the others to arrive... she had forgotten to look for her most dreaded fear... that one of the foals would be born finless, as she had been. That was one thing she'd have never wanted for her children, to be grounded onto the ocean floor, unable to swim and float around like their Father was able to. But time would tell, and she wouldn't disturb them until they were ready to come out and greet the world.

She happily returned his nuzzle, and drearily let her drooping eyelids close, leaning her head down to rest against the rocky ground beneath them. "Yes, they shall have nothing to fear and grow up strong and confident." she murmured in agreement, happy that he was happy. "How did your exploring go, dear? I was worried because you had taken so long."

Ah yes.. his little outing. "It was strange, actually." he decided to take a seat next to where Pakpao was sitting, since there was a lot to tell.

"You remember Angathi, right?" He drifted his eyes on the shells, and watched them as if in love with the gaze. "Apparently Angathi and some land dweller are having baskets. I am still shocked to hear such, I never would have thought he would talk to a land dweller." The issue was strange for Kuval, since he already had mixed feelings on land dwellers.

"What do you think about it? Again I apologize that it took me so long to return, but you can imagine that the stallion had a ton to talk about." He chuckled lightly, and remember how exhausted he was listening to the stories. "Funny how things happen when you don't pay attention." It had been awhile since he had seen the stallion, and apparently more had happened then he thought.

She smiled, and snuggled closer towards him, enjoying the comfort the stallion had to offer. "Yes... Angathi is quite the character. Though that is very interesting... a land dweller you say? I've met with one of those... things, and they are certainly not the friendly type! I wonder what could have possessed him to breed outside of his race?"

Her eyes fluttered open, and she paused for a moment to think over it, before turning to look over at the koi-colored stallion. It was hard to imagine a stallion such as Angathi mating with a land-dweller, when he seemed so taken up with the whole concept of the Knights and Merlocks bit. And now he had foals of his own... foals with a creature who could not live under the water like they could? "Very strange indeed. I wonder if his little ones will be able to live in the ocean as ours will."

"That's what I was wondering." The thought plagued Kuval, and it just didn't make sense to him. It almost didn't seem natural, but his drifting mind was brought back from Pakpaos kinda snuggle. "It seems impossible, I mean even if they had gills, I don't see how they could physically live under water. We have different skin and everything. We are just.. stronger!" He chuckled to himself, and nosed a basket happily. "I feel safe knowing that my children will be fine to survive in the ocean."

It was true, since that was a parent's biggest worry and concern. But it seemed that he and Pakpao would do just fine in raising their children!

"So what else has been going on with you? I am sure the relaxation of having the children out has been nice. Are you sure you don't need anything?" He felt like such a worrywart, but apparently Pakpao had been just fine on surviving on her own! That wasn't surprising at all, since she was so able and strong.

"It is terribly interesting. But, we have both gills and lungs... perhaps they'll be born with the same as well? As you mentioned, it would be troublesome if they were born with gills but not scales. The ocean water would be terrible for their hides, if they stayed under too long."

Shaking her head, she gave a little shrugging motion. "But I guess... if he loves her, that's all that matters, right?" Love was a fickle thing. It crossed boundaries that one would ever imagine it would cross, and did crazy things to the people and creatures it affected.

Leaning back down, she nuzzled the trio of rainbow tinted shells and smiled. She had to wonder to herself if one day her own children might find love out of the waters, but she pushed away the though, figuring it was far too early to worry about such matters. Instead, she'd have to worry about their development and keeping them safe and teaching them... goodness, there was going to be alot she and Kuval were going to have to deal with.

"It has been far more comfortable, stomach wise," she chuckled, glancing down at her thinner belly. "I can actually roll around now!"

She bit her lip, then thought about it some more. "Though... I do miss them being there. I know it sounds silly, but I was just getting used to it, and now they're out and I can't protect them anymore."

She sighed, and finally shoved those thoughts away as well. "But congratulations, Kuval... or should I start calling you Daddy?"
PostPosted: Mon Sep 03, 2007 5:02 pm

It really was a complicated issue, but Kuval was dragged out of thinking about it when Pakpao had called him 'Daddy'. "Sorry darling, but hearing that from you is just.. weird!" With a light laugh, he stretched his neck and brought his eyes on the shells again. "Don't worry, soon we will be so busy with three little ones, that we won't be able to think about all of the complicated issues that come with raising children. Its all about experience, afterall."

"We will have some many obstacles to face soon.. I think I am ready for them." he looked at Pakpao and then smiled dearly. "Do you think you are ready as well? Its going to be hard, and you are probably going to want to kill me at times.." he felt strange for saying such a speech, but at the same time he knew it would be comforting for the both of them.

"But I know you and I can handle this all. Its what we are good at, afterall."

She nodded, understanding. "Yes, I can see how it would be weird, but it's a name I'm sure you'll be getting quite used to in the near future, just as I'll be getting used to Mother or Momma or whatever it is I'm to be called."

Mother. Such an endearing term. Pakpao hadn't thought about it, really, up until this point. No longer would she just be called by her name, but be given a new name in which hers and Kuval's littles would call her by. It was amazing to think that Kuval and herself, seemingly polar opposites in personalities, could create such a beautiful trio to introduce to the world.

"I don't think I'm nearly ready for them myself," she chuckled, glancing to study Kuval's serious expression, "But I don't really have a choice now, do I?"

His smile would always make her smile, no matter what would happen between the two of them. He had a way about him that made her grin even during the gloomiest of times, and she could never thank him enough for that. And never thank him enough for helping her bring in three of the most precious beings she'd ever come to love and cherish. Yes, she would probably come close to strangling him over the months to come, but at the same time she knew he'd probably be close to tearing his headfins out in frustration at her pessimistic and gloomy nature. But they'd balance each other out in the end, she had no doubt.

"Yes... we'll find a way to handle it. We've made it this far, haven't we?"

(( TwT I had to end it, because I suck at RPing fatherism XDD; But we can start a fresh one when the babehs are running around! ))

"I believe you are more ready then you think, honestly." It was strange to see her so doubtful, but he figured it was nothing to worry about. "Time will tell what happens, so for now we should just wait and see what personalities evolve from our children."

He took a light yawn and looked kindly at Pakpao. "I really am not worried at all, as usual." Though inside, he did wish for the best! If he stayed calm, he knew that everything would work out better.

"We should really get some rest for the evening, that way we can have a fresh start in the morning. We have to prepare our energies for when the little ones come ou!" With a light chuckle, he curled over, hoping to hide his exhaustion from her. He really was tired, and it would be best to save all of the rest they could get now, rather then when their children appeared!

He knew they would soon be busy.. and he chuckled before finding himself in a comfortable snooze.
