She ran, still hearing the laughter that was, by far, the most disturbing thing she had ever heard in the woods. Branches tugged at her tail as she pulled through bushes, holding her back only to snap as she forced her way through. Some sharp points left scratches along her pale coat, the scent of her blood and fear drifting into the air. She must have looked like a mess and, for once, she didn't care. The only thing that she cared about was putting as much distance between herself and the wicked stallion as possible... Before he caught up to her and followed through with his threats.

His ears twitched as he heard something coming crashing though the trees. Whatever it was had to be completely senseless to not know how dangerous that was. All the brambles and low branches.
Shaking his head he turned so that he could figure out whatever it was that was making the racket and raised a brow as he noticed a familiar white and pink form though the trees.
She hadn't wandered off all that long ago and now she was doing this?

She continued to run until one of her hooves caught on a branch causing her to stumble. Unable to regain her footing she fell to her knees, lowering her head until it rested between them. Her ears flattened to drive out the sounds that she couldn't escape from. It hurt too much to move and she had done it all to herself... Another sort of game; something she had failed at.

Shaking his head carefully as to not loose his hat he walked over to where Katarina had fallen. Leaning down he nudged her shoulder carefully with his nose. "Kitten..."
He expected her to bolt with the way she'd been running. There must have been some sort of thing out there that had scared her.

She tensed and drew back, trying to pull herself to her hooves only to stumble to her knees once more. Tears welled in eyes that she held tightly closed, leaking slowly from the corners to stain the pale coat beneath her 'mask' with wetness. "Don't touch me. Go away. I can't run anymore..."

He raised a brow as he straightened back up. "One shouldn't be running though the woods anyways. The trees are much too close together for it."
He looked back the way she'd come and wondered what she'd seen out there. "There is nothing to be afraid of Kitten"

There was much to be afraid of. There was that wretched dog mare out there somewhere... And now this fanged, winged thing with the laughter. She lowered her head further, resting it against her shoulder as she turned away from him. It had been safer to run through the woods.
"I smell like you."
So many things she could have said and, for one reason or another, that was the one that came out first. Carrying his scent was enough for others to assume things that weren't true; to tear her apart just for belonging to someone else. "Am I yours?"

"Doubtful my dear. You belong to me no more than these trees do or the grass in the glade." He tossed his head slightly so he could see better under the brim of his hat. Katarina certainly didn't belong to him. She was too determined to play with everyone she coudl to belong to one single stallion.
"Most things that stay here long enough smell like me. Though with how long you've been here i probably smell a bit like you also. Fair exchange of scents i'd imagine."

Her face fell, head drooping slightly as she lost what little urge she had left to continue trying to hold it up. "... I keep coming back though." She didn't kow why. She had never spent as much time in one place as she did here... Even when she wandered off for a few days she always returned.
"I told him I didn't belong to you..." She sounded as young as he had first thought her to be as she said that; young, lost and hurt. Maybe, somewhere, she had wanted him to say 'yes'.

He leaned down again and nuzzled the white mare. He might not have always seemed intelligent but looks could be deceiving. He had decided long ago that if Katarina wanted to play games he would let her. If she came to a different conclusion about their relationship then he would see where things let.
No strings, no direction, just letting things go as they would even if it seemed like nonsense half the time. "Did you tell him the truth kitten?"

This time instead of jerking away she leaned her muzzle towards him, touching her nose to his. "You can't own a Kat until the Kat chooses you... After that you have to accept that the Kat has chosen you before you can own it... The Kat keeps coming back, doesn't it?"

"You can very well own a cat without it's permission. You must just break it to do so." Which was not something he recommended to anyone. "Horrible practice but it works"
Katarina did indeed keep coming back but it was always only to play more word games or show him some little project of hers. She didn't come back for him, or at least she had never admitted such.
"I have told you before i do not play word games. Things are equal or nothing at all"

"A stallion who calls Kat a kitten most certainly does play games with words..." She rested her head against his leg, slowly begining to relax. "... That stallion should have told the Kat that he was growing weary of it. She doesn't apologize often... But she's sorry."

"The stallion did." On more than one occasion and it always ended with her getting huffy and leaving. Then she'd return a few days later and want to play more. Never ending cycle it seemed.

"... I still can't change who I am." Eyes closed she nuzzled her cheek gently against his leg, neck pressing against strong muscle. "I can try to be better..." She pulled back slowly, letting her head droop once more. "... Unless you want me to go."
