What is your point of veiw on boarding school? Do you think it's healthier to leave home to live with others or should students stay with their parents until they've graduated highschool?

Personally, I think children should be raised in a family environment. that's how I plan on raising my son, is at home as a family.
However, I don't see boarding schools or private schools as a bad thing. I think they have their pros and cons just as much as public schools do.

It depends on the child. In general though, I believe kids should stay at home in the elementary school ages. Having a kid in boarding school though, can teach them independence and help them get accustomed to not having to rely on their parents and would probably give them a heads up for college life. I know I wish I had some idea of living away from home because after I graduate this school year, I'm going to be terrified of going out on my on.

To each his own. Although the elementary and middle school years should be spent at home. Alot happens during these years and high school is just blah. I think boarding schools are good because it is college for a price. Basically, if it has a good reputation, there is a good chance that if you pay for 4 years of that and then 4 years of college your child can get in to a descent college.

She lay down on the grass, Looking up at the sky, thinking, it’s all she can do. If she disappeared she would not be missed. She will be gone just like everyone else.
Getting up from the grass, she walks on the sand, looking outward towards the sea. She walks into the water high up above her knees.

This is all a matter of opinion. I personally went to Public schools, and stayed at home with my parents. Why would we have to wait until college until we have to go away to school? I'm not saying they're better or worse than any other school, and it's a parent's and student's choice on whether they got to public school, private school, boarding school or even get home schooled. It's all a matter of which way is best spent learning. Most people who are sent to boarding school learn to live on their own faster, because that's what they're doing, whilst students who attend public school at home learn to be more dependent on their families and close knit relationships. People who attend boarding schools might never make those close knit relationships. Education is education, no matter what. I think that sending a child to a good school is great, but it doesn't have to be the best school. I never once thought of sending any future children of mine to a boarding school, because I can get them the same education anywhere else.

The water is high up to her hips. The wave comes towards her. She looks at the wave with her arms stretched out; the water starts to rage, the wave hits her body hard. Then the water calms down. The water recedes, then darkness falls, and all goes dark. The sun goes down and the day is done.

I think that if kids go away to a boarding school, they lose sight of things that are most important. family is there to guide you through school and problems and all the things those kids have to deal with when they away at a school away from home.
plus.. schools only teach in the daytime, so why make them live there at night?!

Well just a thinking point, but what about the child whose family atmosphere is not exactly conducive to their learning and developing? Is not a boarding school a perfect solution in these cases?

I can see boarding school for high school years but not before. Children need to know that they are loved and sending off to a boarding school at a young age will give the impression that they aren't. But once a teen reaches 14 they should know that their parents love them and want the best for them. It may be harder for them to let go but they'll be better set for life.

I'm not talking childhood, more or less the teenage years. I was sent away to boarding school at the age of twelve/thirteen. Now I'm twenty and in college. Just wanting to know other people's opinions and I believe I'm getting excellent responces.
Just remember
Not a child
Teenager

Actually, I think it would be fun to have that much freedom at that young of an age (12-13)

Well hate to spoil that thought but most boarding schools have very tight restrictions and regulations, more so than you do at home.

I would stand in line for this
I believe that a boarding school for the high school ages is a good idea, but not for elementary ages.
Kids need their parents when they`re little. They need to be able to run to their mother if someone pushes them down; a telephone line relationship cannot compete with the real life thing.

But growing up alone helps them grow up not needing anyone's support. It makes them a much stronger and at the same time, weaker person.
