James628 yes it is a millitary instatution but its main goal is "To promote young people into being better citizens" and in my school the Kids in JROTC are the most dicaplend, respectfull in the school plus they have the highest grades I am, according to my mom, 90% trustworthy, have a 4.1 GPA out of 4.1, and am pretty respectful to people. I am not in JROTC. May I see a copy of the study done that proves your statement? Thank you. Jungle Soldier Not really when I play a sport I just get incredibly MORE aggressive, I can't draw and end up getting angry when I try to draw and fail miserably, and talking with friends usually either stays completely away from anything that would help or if it does stray into that topic I end up getting more agressive because we are arguing with eachother Then kick the wall, go for a run, jump up and down and scream loud. There are many things that you can do to deal with anger. James628 It dosent promote anti-gay activities in the JROTC batallion im in at least 1/3 of it is gay people, and our 2nd in command is a lesbian. I did start my sentence with if. Besides, the San Fransisco area's program might have different policies than yours does.

If so, you should probably see a counselor for some suggestion on cooling off. Otherwise, it may turn into a big problem. James628 there wasent a study but I know most the people in my jrotc class and most of them are in advanced/AP classes, are in academic decathlon, and almost every teacher in my high school has said the jrotc student are the most respectfull, ]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn6V2W1lvWkI would like a rough percentage or fraction of the people in AP classes who are also in JROTC, please. I do not know how many kids in your school take AP classes. At my old high school for example, about 60 out of 1,000 kids in the senior class took AP English. At my new school, 90 out of > 800 do. Obviously, the push for higher education is more prominent in my new high school. If we had ROTC in both high schools, more student would be taking AP classes in the latter school. Same idea with the Athletic Decathelon. Another point - all of the positive things that have been said about JROTC can be applied to cross country. Being a better citizen - by running places, you learn appreciation for the nice drivers and people who don't run you over, and you will begin to reciprocate that effect. Promotes teamwork - during a three mile race, people have to work together to endure the course Promotes leadership - making the decisions of where we should run, how far, and communication skills are learned while running with others and after races. Makes kids docile - just come see my cross country team after any workout; we are too exhausted to move. And all the girls on my cross-country team, excepting one, had a GPA of 4.0 of above. We're all polite too.

As a teen girl I am more likely to get anrgy for no apparent reason than most, if not all, other groups of people. (Extra hormones + PMS = very random spurts of anger) Maybe having these helps me deal better - I don't know. But shutting yourself up in your room isn't healthy. It usually just bottles up anger temporarily, then the anger comes out like a newly opened and shaken soda bottle. Not fun, especially when you have to clean it up.
I used to abhor running - the only reason I ran in PE was because my teacher scared me. But when I joined x-country, it somehow clicked together.
ps. The reason you're hurting is probably from bad running posture and/or bad shoes and it also takes about 2 weeks to get accustomed to running long distance.

I dont think its fair that those kids in san francisco can no longer take a class that they choose to take and that they liked just because some libral school board members hate the millitary. cross country might offer some of the things rotc does but for a lot of people rotc is way more fun because we do more activities than cross country.

Also, if you take ROTC for all four years, and then actually enlist in the Servicem you get a pay raise above your actual rank.
