"Uhh..." Phoenix began to reply, scratching the side of his head, messing up the gelled hair spikes in that particular patch. "I don't really know... one minute I was in my apartment, then I think I um.. fell asleep." He felt unsure of himself, but gave the other Kitsusagi a silly grin as if to cover it up. "But yeah, then I arrived here."

"As for how I was nearly killed..." He frowned, ears drooping. "When I woke up, I was in the forest, or at the edge of it anyway. I was at the base of the tall mountains we're in now. I had these... things stuck to my back," He tilted his head, raising an ear as if to point at his firey wings, "They were worse than discovering I had tails, and fur. And then, well..." He sat on his hinds, lowering his head.

"The guy I was telling you about before, the evil one. He was white in the face, he had red hair. And he had a backpack thing and could fly. We got off okay, but then he said he was evil. He bared his fangs at me." The spikey haired Kitsusagi deeply frowned, looking quite troubled. "I don't know if I misjudged him or not, but I ran for it before he could do any more to me. I guess if I had stuck around, he might have tried to kill me."

He was about to continue on, but then an unfamiliar voice caught his attention, causing him to look up suddenly. His icy blue eyes focussed on Saix as he walked into the kitchen. Phoenix could only initially stare dumbly at him as he spoke.

"S..sorry..." He lowered his head, looking rather much like a scolded child.

He rose to his feet again, taking his second sandwich with him, and began to head back out towards the front door of the house. He took Saix's words as a cue that he wasn't wanted around.

"I...see..." Edgeworth commented, thoughtfully. "I can't recall what happened the day that I...arrived here. But I can remember the day before, though it didn't seem significant in any way." He shrugged, "I was just doing some work." As usual.

Silently, the Kitsusagi sighed. At least he didn't wake up, with wings. If he had...well, he probably would have had a fit, to be honest. He could imagine how fur and tails could come as a shock, but to have huge wings...He liked walking, thank you very much.

"There are certainly some interesting characters around here," He said, drily, "Though I most doubt any of them can really be considered 'evil'. Someone who actually declares themselves to be evil, usually are just people at play." He sighed. "You are a tad gullible, Wright."

He rose an eyebrow, glancing between Saix and Phoenix as they spoke. Then, he shook his head. 'This certainly will be interesting.'

Noting Phoenix starting out, Kitsumi rose from her spot, and tackled him, flopping over across his back. "Heeey Nick, where are you going?" She asked, with a frown. This earned a snort from Saix.

Phoenix was about to respond to Edgeworth, ending up making a loud startled noise as Kitsumi tackled him. In the brief moment he was startled, his firey wing-feathers bristled, the wings going rigid and stiff soon afterwards with the Kitsusagi's heightened mood. He turned his head back to give the girl an unhappy glance and then he tried to shake her off, not seeming to be in the mood right now for a game. However, his shaking was light, as he did not want to hurt her at all.

"I... uh," He frowned, biting his lower lip. "I'm going to go back outside. Where I belong. So I can... stay out of his way."

He turned his attention back to Saix, pinning his ears back, lowering his head at the other Kitsusagi. He wasn't friendly, but he had every right to say what was to happen in his house.

"I don't mind." He said finally, shrugging.

Kitsumi's tail had been lashing back and forth, cheerily, when she noticed the look on Phoenix's face, and felt him gently try to shake her off. Ears flattening, and looking abashed, she slipped off his back. Drooping a little, she seated herself beside, him, before letting out a whine at his words. How quickly she could change from happy, to sorrowful.

"But...but Nick, this is where you belong. You can spend your days outside, without food and shelter!" She yelped, "Besides, Saix-y tells EVERYONE to stay out of his way." Frantically, she glanced over to Edgeworth, who looked at Saix.

The black cloaked Kitsu stared back at them, his golden eyes calm, before he snorted at the look Kitsumi was giving him. "All I said was to stay out of my way. I didn't say you had to leave." He spoke, with a flat tone, figuring it was better just to spend his own time avoiding Phoenix, rather then kick him out and defend himself from the tackling and whimpering that Kitsumi was ensure. With that, he turned, and padded back outside without a second glance.

"Wright," Edgeworth cleared his throat, "I should probably mention that Saix said the same thing to me when I first arrived, but I didn't pay attention to his words, and we get along fine right now." If basically avoiding each other was 'getting along'.

Phoenix released a tired sigh from his lungs, then sat on his haunches again. He turned his attention towards the front door again, debating moving outside like he had originally thought best. Maybe he could just do so later... when nobody was looking.

Instead, he raised a paw to wave it in a dismissive manner.

"It's alright, really." He said to Kitsumi, a hint of unhappiness etching his voice. "I'm grateful enough that you guys fed me - it's really nice of you to do, and I thank you for it." He managed a lopsided grin. "But outside is getting out of his way, isn't it? You can't argue that one."

He turned his attention to Saix, meeting his eyes for a moment, frowning again as he watched the Kitsusagi turn and walk out of the room. Phoenix had to admit to himself that he couldn't help but feel a little more relaxed after seeing him go. He would have to learn how to deal with that one another day.

As Edgeworth spoke, the spiky-haired Kitsu grinned at him. "I'll make a note of it, heh heh... I suppose I can get along fine with the guy." He began to idly pull at the spikes on the side of his head. "Though I never would have guessed you and him would have problems. I mean, you're fairly short tempered and annoyed most of the time, and he looks to be the same way. I'm surprised you guys aren't buddies already."

Pawing at Phoenix, the smaller, female Kitsusagi whined. "But, but, Saix goes outside more than he stays inside. Wouldn't staying inside be staying out of his way?" She argued, with a furious nod. "And...and...we're your friends!" Kitsumi added, desperately.

Once Saix has spoken, and left the room, Kitsumi looked at him pointedly. "See! That's Saix's way of saying it's okay for you to stay!" She still had that, 'OHEMGEEPLEASEDON'TLEAVEMR.NICK' look.

Ignoring Kitsumi, Edgeworth gave a small sigh. "He's a rather silent character, really. He rarely speaks, so if you don't irritate him somehow, you'll get along fine." Then the Kitsusagi frowned, twitching with irritation. "Thank you for your kind words." He said, drily. "I'm glad to hear that I'm short tempered and often annoyed." Alright, so perhaps it WAS true but...well, yes.

Glancing from one to the other, Kitsumi slumped down, head on her paws, and ears flat, still thinking that Phoenix was leaving. How could Edgeworth act so casually through this whole thing?! The two were old friends, weren't they?

Phoenix sighed. He slowly shook his head as he watched Kitsumi's expression. He didn't want to upset her at all, and she was giving him a pleading expression that he couldn't very well say no to. He lowered his head, sagging his shoulders slightly as if giving in.

"Alright, you win." He said, finally giving the female a weak lopsided grin. "I'll stay around for a while, but... well..." He stopped, looking a little awkward. "I don't like to annoy others. He doesn't want me to get in his way, so, I'm going to respect that."

"I'll make a note of that," He said, nodding at Edgeworth's comments. "My offer of getting out of the way extends to you too - the minute one of you guys announce me as annoyance, I'm going to be out of your hair."

Phoenix quickly frowned at Edgeworth's tone of voice during his next statment, assuming he had insulted him. "Sorry," He said quickly, shaking his head. "I really didn't mean it like that, yeah. I er... everybody can be mad sometimes. Sorry... if I um... insulted you there."

He turned his attention back to Kitsumi, blinking at her, seeming concerned at her sudden change of mood. She seemed... sad now? That wasn't any good. Phoenix soon found himself crouched down beside her, reaching over to place a paw on her shoulder as if trying to reassure her.

"You OK there?"

Edgeworth shifted his gaze to look at Kitsumi for a moment, before sighing, and looking back at Phoenix, as if trying to ignore the female Kitsusagi. "Wright, behave and eat your pickles, and I'll let you stay." He commented, with a smirk. That was as close to a joke as Edgeworth would ever get. "I've already been able to tolerate you when we were human. Surely it can't be that different now that we're Kitsusagi."

Then, lay down. "It's fine. I didn't take much offense from it. That," He said, looking pointedly at Kitsumi, "Has called me 'Edgey', 'Worthy' and 'Mr. Grumpy Pants 2' oh too many times." He paused, before emitting a small chuckle. "'Mr. Grumpy Pants 1' being Saix."

Turning his attention amusedly to his old rival and his babysitting charge, Edgeworth hid a grin. Kitsumi would do this a lot - random mood swings, that was. It'd be interesting to see how Phoenix would fair with them.

Kitsumi's ears pricked only slightly as she heard Phoenix approach, and felt his paw on her shoulder. Ears flattening against her skull, she looked up. For a moment, she was silent, before speaking, her voice hopeful, "I'll be okay if you prooooomise to stay? Even for a little while? And, and, don't let Saix get to you if he's being mean?"

The spiky-haired Defense Attorney Kitsusagi turned his attention up towards Edgeworth, a small sigh finally escaping him.

"Alright, alright," He gave the other Kitsusagi a weak grin, seeming to give in. "I'll behave. I'll stay for a little while, at least until I can build that house thing. But there's no way in heck I'm going to eat pickles - you can eat them all. Really. Be my guest, Edgeworth." He wrinkled his nose in distaste, behaving in much the same manner as a child would under the same circumstances. "Blegh..."

"Heh..." He made a small amused sound, shaking his head. "Was I really that bad as a human? That I have to be tolerated? Outside of court, that is. I know for a fact that you couldn't stand me in there, and sometimes I bet you downright would have wanted to kill me. But apart from that... nobody else seemed to mind me, at least from what I could gather." His grin completely faded as a memory came to mind. "Although, now that you mention it... there was one thing. Maya kept calling me an old fart just because I don't know anything about the Steel Samurai."

Phoenix began to chuckle as Edgeworth listed the names Kitsumi had called him. "'Edgey', 'Worthy', and 'Mr. Grumpy Pants 2', huh?" He raised a paw to his chin, scratching it for a moment as he thought. "Can't think of many more to teach her." A wide grin grew across his maw. "Except perhaps 'Edge-head', and 'Mr Frilly-Cravat'."

Phoenix gently patted Kitsumi on the head, giving the girl a warm friendly grin.
"Hey," He said in a gentle voice. "Cheer up there. I already said I'm staying. I promise that." He sighed. "But yeah, I'll keep out of Saix's way. I don't think he likes me. He lives here, he has more right to the space than I do." He lightly nudged the girl in the shoulder before rising to his feet again. "No need to look so down."

He stood on his hinds, stumbling slightly, wings raised to keep balance. He was still used to being a biped, and the sudden switch to a quadrupedal animal was not at all an easy thing to adapt to.

"Oh, do you guys keep any saké around here?" He wondered as he looked around the room, blue eyes focusing on the kitchen cupboards. "Or wine? Or beer? Anything like that will do, really." He licked his lips, grinning. It had been a long time since he had a good drink. "Give me some of that and I can really promise you that I won't be going anywhere for the rest of the day. Or the evening."
