♠Yeah, the style this kid is drawing is like a short anime/manga drawing phase I had in 7th grade.
Luckily I got over it when I realized how crappy it looked.
It's really just not a good style to draw, at all.♠

Why is it that people find shame in drawing this way? Maybe the reason you think it's crap now is because your understanding of the style was crap at the time. I'm not trying to sound like I'm on a high horse, but i've been drawing 'anime/manga' whatever you want to call it since I was 4 years old. I grew up on sailormoon, akazukin chacha, doraemon, dragon ball, you name it. I would not consider my go-to style as a phase. A phase for me was drawing horses when i was 10. Just because 'manga/anime' style didn't work out for you doesn't mean you should assume the same of other artists, and that they too will 'grow out of it'. If Takahashi Rumiko 'grew out' of her phase 30 years ago, you wouldn't have had the material to mimic in 7th grade.
i don't feel shame in where i've taken influences from. sailormoon was the first anime i ever got hooked on and studying naoko takeuchi's works helped sparked the notion of going to college to be an animator. :3 even now it still holds a special place in my heart. some people have it as a phase and some people don't...just a matter of preference.
