卍 There are few things that I know deep down are right, and this is one of them.
And the more I learn about Buddhism the more I like it, which is always delicious.
So :3 卍

Because I want something to believe in; Buddhism answers my questions in satisfactory ways; Buddhism intellectually, emotionally, spiritually and socially challenges me to improve myself, without putting too much or too little pressure on the improvement; Buddhism is rational and contains elements of healthy skepticism and something that mirrors the scientific method; Buddhism also has room for the mystical without it being an absolute requirement.
As for why I am here discussing it: Why not?

Because I love learning about new things, and out of all major world religions, Buddhism most closely matches my own views (which are still quite different from most religious views).
In fact, before my spirituality took a Pagan slant, I seriously considered becoming Buddhist. I still use mantras, meditation and prayer in quite a Buddhist manner from time to time.

Because I too, want something to believe in, and after reading, Buddhism makes sense to me. The teachings of Shakyamuni really inspire me, and really give me hope. For those reasons, I am a Buddhist. I'm here talking about it because you asked me why I was. If I take it a few steps back, I'm here because I want a place to discuss my beliefs, and the beliefs of others, and have some good conversation all the while. smile
