Again, haircut falls into necessity. Here are the reasons why. Some people need haircuts for medical reasons such as getting rid of acne or so that their sight won't be impaired.
Acne, while unsightly, is very rarely a real "medical problem." If my hair is so long that it gets in my eyes, I'll pull it back. Many women seem to manage without cutting their hair for years. People don't cut their hair for "medical reasons." They cut it for convenience or for style. That's hardly a medical reason.

Quote:
Another reason is, you've answered it, because the "People are expected and encouraged to keep themselves well-groomed." What does that imply? It tells you that people need to live up to these expectations and therefore, NEEDS to keep themselves groomed and decent.
A few posts ago, you were going on about how we shouldn't yeild to society, and now you're saying that social expectations are a valid reason to alter something that's naturally occuring on our bodies.

I do not NEED to cut my hair or shave my face. I choose to, however, mostly because in our society today, well-groomed, clean-shaven men are generally seen as being more attractive. I'd guess that most men, upon reflection, keep their hair short and their faces shaven for similar reasons. There's nothing wrong with that. However, vanity hardly constitutes need.

Quote:
Obviously, people are not expected to change their sex. However, they are influenced into thinking that they should feel uncomfortable with their body, therefore sex-change is a direct/indirect "influence of the world." Look at people who are not satisfied with how they look? What causes them to try to look aesthetically pleasing? Society (more like the world)! They're told they don't look right or they're not "fit" to be with them. This definitely tells us such people are "influenced."
I'm influenced by society to not get fat. I'm influenced by society to dress and groom myself a certain way. I'm not even entirely happy with the way I look. And yet, I'm not ready to hack off my p***s just because I'm under certain social pressures regarding physical appearance. Considering the ridiculously high number of people who hate their bodies compared to the very small number of people who are seeking sex reassignment, I think it's pretty obvious that Gender Dysphoria stems from something considerably more than just wanting to look like sex on legs.

Quote:
"If someone is considering sex reassignment surgery, they're not doing it because of some kind of societal pressure. If anything, societal pressure would keep them from going through with it."

I quoted that again because that is contrary to the sites you've cited. According to the professionals and your sites, the major driving force is anxiety from their body. What causes anxiety? Fear. What is fear fed by? Society and its constant words telling these people that they are not who they are. Otherwise, why would anyone fear about being themselves?
No. You don't understand your own argument.

First of all, anxiety, in the clinical sense, is not simple fear. I've explained this already. Secondly, Gender Dysphoria is not caused by anxiety. Rather, the anxiety is a result of the Gender Dysphoria. Anxiety is a symptom of severe Gender Dysphoria. The actual causes of GD are still being determined. Some studies have shown that there are visible differences in the brains of males and the brains of females, and that transgenders/transsexuals may quite literally have a brain that doesn't match their body.

You're arguing that the same society that beats the crap out of transsexuals on a regular basis is the entity that's turning them transsexual in the first place. Please tell me you see the flawed logic in that.

Point: You're not comprehending the sources I provided. You're taking snippits and twisting them to say whatever you find helpful to make your case.

Quote:
I haven't implied that my interpretations of the Bible were "superior." I've made them because no one has made any - that includes you. Also, the statement, that you made about Bible not specifically stating that sex-change is wrong, is completely absurd. Really. The Bible doesn't tell us that it's right or wrong whether we should or shouldn't practice polygamy. It doesn't say: "Thou shalt not have more than one wife or thou shalt be smited by My lightning bolt of pure, Holy wrath." Yet, we Christians don't practice that. Why? Let's refer to the Bible. The Bible tells us that a man and a woman are to become "one flesh" (Matthew 19:1-12) which then allows us to infer how wonderful and awesome it is for a man and a woman to have such relationship. The Bible also warns us to avoid having affairs, i.e. adultery. These two simple facts from the Bible definitely tells us to not have multiple wives.
Way to miss my completely blatant sarcasm. I know perfectly well that it says nothing about sex reassignment in the Bible. Last I checked, skin-grafting techniques and breat implants weren't exactly common practises 2000 years ago.

Believe it or not, the fact that I don't agree with you doesn't make me an idiot.

Quote:
And to your question about sex-change. I'll point out that the God tells us that our bodies are the temple for the Holy Spirit (1 Corin. 6). To change or defile it (having sex with another woman other than your wife, destroying yourself, etc.) is ruining the temple of God (our body). So obviously, I take that sex-change is wrong.
But how far does that extend? Not to beat a dead horse, but our hair is naturally long if we don't cut it. Does that mean that cutting it, i.e. changing it, is ruining the temple of God? What about girls who have their ears pierced? Is that wrong? Those holes weren't there bt themselves. Is losing/gaining weight also wrong if our bodies are naturally fatter or thinner than we want them to be? That's changing your body as well.

Obviously sex reassignment is a lot more drastic than a haircut, but the fact is, you can apply that sort of logic to any number of things to the point where it starts to get rather ridiculous.

the arguement of whether or not this girl NEEDS a sex change opperation is pointless. SHE is what matters here and SHE is hurting.
