my dad told me that one of his friends would put vicks vapo rub on his eczima and it helped for a bit but i would still itch it.

My son has severe allergies and has eczema on the back of his legs (worse behind his knees). We use the Aveeno oatmeal body wash and the Aveeno lotion on him. He also has a prescription ointment that we use when he gets really bad, which is all summer long since he is in shorts.

My son and I both have eczema. I've tried about everything when it would get really bad on me, and nothing seemed to work. Finally I got a prescription for a cream, called Elocon, from my doctor.... it works wonders! Usually clears it up within a day. I've been using it since my son was a baby, around 13 years.

I have it as well and have a steroid ointment from my doctor that is wonderful. I actually need to call and get a refil. I can't function without it sometimes it's so bad. I also find that Oil of Olay has an in shower body lotion that is great. Any type of lotion that is thick and takes some time to work into your skin is beneficial.

Jade also has it and gets it every winter in the bend of her arms. Jason's dad is a pharmacist and gives us various prescription creams, and the school nurse put some on her that had steroids in it.

And about 20 mins ago I just showed Jason's dad my arms because I've had a red rash on both forearms most of the winter, and I asked him if it was eczema, but he said no, just a rash, and I should use hydrocortisone cream or benadryl.

Wow, it sounds like this is a pretty common problem!

Michael has it. He was prescribed hydrocortisone which has steroids but because of where it was located (on his little private zone) the doctor said to discontinue it after a week... Then because it hadn't gone away the doctor told me to try Cetaphil it is an over the counter lotion and it works well!!!
