Dunno, ebony is a very hard wood so it tends to be very bright, and mahogany sounding as warm as it does, I think they'd clash. Maybe ebony with a maple body.

you want Pickups like Bootsy Collins, he was known for his Clean Wet Tone, i'd look to him for some Ideas, try his Space Bass.

the only thing i really know about Hardware/Wood/Pickups etc etc, is, i LOVE Rosewood Fretboards, and i hear EMG's are pretty powerful/rock solid, never played them but my guitarist adores them and says there almost better on bass...

i'd say Rosewood Fretboard if your gonna make it Purple, something Dark.

I still have no idea what you want, we can't help you if your going to be so secretive about the design and what you want it to look like. Active or passive? What hardware do you need help picking out? Is it going to be painted or not? I also think this is going to way more difficult than you believe,
wiring 5 sets of pickups together is not going to be fun, even worse if you want them to be active.

Don't worry I am fully capable in the realm of wires and nobs mostly just the type of pick up over all. I can wire it I have training in the elctrical field and a friend with lots of readiers for current and wattage and amprage ect, so I'll be all right there, I am painting it yes, it will be deep purple.

There we go, alright, so you want a warm, deep tone, with active electronics, and all other hardware besides a bridge?

For a wood I'm still sticking with mahogany, very rich warm tone and it's cheap (I know you said price is not an object but what would be the point in buying an expensive piece of wood like rosewood or koa with the same tone as mahogany and then painting it?).

For tuning gears you need to check out Hipshots, especially the e-string extender which has a lever you can use to switch between 2 tunings, normally between E and drop D, very useful and convenient. The tuners themselves are rock solid as well.

For pickups, they are expensive, but well worth it, Sadowsky Hum-canceling pickups, $140 a set, and you'll need 3 sets to get 5, great pickups out of arguably the best built Jazz basses in the world (Fender eat your heart out...).

Preamp, gotta be the Audere, with the Z-switch you can get three distinctly different voices out of your bass, and they all sound awesome.

Neck, http://www.warmoth.com/bass/necks/necks.cfm?fuseaction=standard, go crazy.

Thanks man, from what i've gatthered on top line basses in the world that seems to be what I am looking for. Thanks.

For the fret board I'm going with rose wood. Which I am staining as well. Fretless. Hee, magical sounds of slides, I love to do that, so I must be fretless. I can't wait. Bootsy is the one I am bassing the pick up system after some what. But I am not going to buy one of his basses I'm making my own.
EDIT: actually I should probably go with ebony because it will be fretless. but I've seen fretless with rose wood, I think that it may wear down after a while. which is a problem.
