I want to customize my guitar by re-painting and changing the look of my guitar. I was going to sand down the smooth edges, and make tips. Anyone done something like this, and anyone have any advice? It would be greatly appreciated! smile

Sounds like a project! I had a neighbor guitarist do the painting job, but not the carving. Just think it over well, and give it a shot! Especially if you got the money to do it. I am kinda tempted to make a custom bass guitar... Make something really freaking interesting.... Dunno!

A Gibson X-Plorer customized into a Spider. It would take extra maple, but it would be HARDCORE. I'm starting a band called the Flaming Spiders. So, it's perfect.

Im more of a jazz artist, but it would be cool to see. I am thinking like an odd or original shape... I dont know, like making something like a chapman stick or something. I would have to think that over a lot... Sounds expensive and hard in my mind razz

uum i did that with one of my Basses, but i didnt store the Electronics well, make sure they have breathing space and arnt being pushed down by anything when out of the guitar and they should go back in smoothly
and as for paint, i used an Enamel Bases Spray Paint, but ask a guitar store/Repairs shop, and for Remoddelling, Rough Sand paper would be good for getting it Basically right, then move to a finer Sand Paper to smooth it out, maybe even like a very very fine steel wool, which would polish slightly, but still cut, and most Basses have an Enamel Finish, or ask a Repairs Shop, you will learn the most by asking Questions
