Monterey Jazz, Looking for a new one, any ideas?

i play alot of Classic Rock/Blues/Early Metal

Eg. of what i play: Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Red hot Chili Peppers, GNR, Zappa, Yes, The Eagles, Bob Dylan, etc etc.

i'm thinking about a Fender Jazz, or theres this one i played with P pickups and an Active Humbucker by the Bridge, that was really good.

Any Ideas?

for alot of versatility, then go with the musicman stingray. has one humbucker but is a great bass for playing a wide range of music, and is an awsome slap bass.

yes, i'm Fond of the Musicman Series, theres an awesome 30th Anniversary Edition in one of my Usual Hang Out Spots,
(yes i chill in Music Stores, they give me Discounts cos they all know me, yuo should try it)
man its Awesome, Rosewood Fretboard, the Single Growling Humbucker, nice Wieght (I like Hevy basses), and it doesnt get that really Sharp sound tone that the other Musicmans i play get, they pick up all the slight Clicks and whatnot, when the Tone is up more than Half, usually ones with a Maple Fretboard get that Sharpness.
though it would give it some Cut for Slapping if you Toned Down
but i got about $1500 Aus, and i'm looking at a Fender Hihghway One Jazz (they have the Ultimate Versatility) the Price Tag is about $1700, but i'm gonna try and get it for 1400.
the dude in the Store wants to Jam With me.
I go in there i play a few things he comes up to me and askes what kind of music i like, where about i live and if i'm interested starting up a good Cover Band.
I said yes and hopefully he'll give me a discount
