My mom and I agreed almost immediately that it was silly to remake Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory...Just 'cause the original was awesome. And really good.
Really. Why remake something that's THAT good? (Especially since if this is bad, it might turn people away from the first one if they haven't seen it...)

Depp may be ugly, but the fact that he is at the zenith of what an actor should be makes up for every non-beautiful line on his incredible face. It is the fact that he looks different for each character he plays that amazes me. And we should all consider one fact when looking at this title for creepy levels. I would like to show you exhibit A. Director: Tim Burton. You can't really get much creepier than the Tim Burton approach.

P.S.- This isn't Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory we are talking about either. This is Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, which in book form are two in a series.
As for the Original questions, Depp wins, everthing.
And I would try to teach them on the condition that they teach me that awesome fashion.

I don't know about him being in it. I saw a preview for it and it looked pretty o.O - ish to me. The original was really good (except for when the elevator rose out of the building. You could SEE the string it was being drawn on - no, I swear, you could!) and maybe they shouldn't fix something that isn't broken.

I personally feel that Barbosa is one sexy beast. Captain Jack's got the most awesome hair ever though. Of course, this thread has probably drifted far from the subject by now, and all you angry literate masses will now rain your scorn upon my toes, but my steel-toed boots (which I'm sometimes too tired to remove before sleeping) will thwart your assault, and my legions of illiterate acquantances will wage a deadly war against you. Tell me how it turns out.

That made no sense, I know...But still.
Actually, it's not that they're trying to "fix" the movie; it's that they have no original ideas for this year, so most of the movies are remakes of older movies, sequels, and maybe in some cases prequels. Yes, I know sequels and prequels are somewhat original, but you get my point.
They're even remaking "Bad News Bears." O.O
