And to Valhalla, one day I will return
With tears in my eyes
When the world burns
And the gods die.

I love Norse mythos, and this is just a short poem of death and Ragnarok.

Norse mythology and me didn't part on speaking terms (it knows what it did) Nice poem though. Ragnarok always struck me as an interesting take on the apocalypse, simply because there wasn't supposed to be some sort of grand salvation afterwards. At least I think there wasn't supposed to be, I can't quite remember.

I love Norse more than any others. After Ragnarok a few gods survive, and two humans hide in the branches of Ygg. They repopulate Midgard, and a new god would arise higher and better than even Odin. I believe that god would be Balder, who seemed to be the perfect candidate for the position.

Ah, I see. Well I didn't stay in my mythology class past Greek/Roman mythology and about half of the material on Norse, so my knowledge isn't as expansive as it could be.

I use it quite a lot in my writings, it's in my Halloween contest entry for here. Norse just... touches me deep down in a way I can't explain... but I don't practice any sort of religion that could encompass that.
