Indent This guild was purchased by me in November 2005 and started as a Hogwarts-based roleplaying guild which sadly died from inactivity as most of the guilds. Then it had a new beginning a few months in the past but it vanished one more time. I decided to leave the guild untouched for the next couple months until I decided I would start a new roleplay based in a different subject; this time I picked the Harvest Moon Saga as the subject.

Indent Harvest Moon: The Moonspring Valley started in development on October 15th, 2006 with the goal of providing a nice place for all the serious roleplayers out there regardless if they're Harvest Moon fans or not. That's why we will only be accepting people who can prove to be a good addition to the guild roleplay. As I said in a previous paragraph, the guild will be based in Harvest Moon but that does not mean you all have to be farmers, in fact we will let the people choose what do they want to work in so the story we forge together is completely up to the people living in the valley.

About the Host! (Forgot this banner)

Indent That's me! (Of course...). There's nothing much to say here except that my RL name is David but my friends often call me Gamma... I'm 20 years old, mexican living in Mexico and I've never been out of this country but I'm expecting to go somewhere in a future. I started roleplaying some years back when the MSN chats were still up and I became addicted really fast. I liked all kind of roleplays but pacific roleplays were my favourite as I've never been good in fights -_-;;. Once the MSN chats were closed I wandered around with no home until I found this wonderful placed called Gaia on June 27th, 2005 (Over two years now!). This place became my new addiction... Since I've been here I've been roleplaying in only a few guilds (I never liked the threads) and I thought it would be nice to have a roleplay with all the things I've ever dreamed to find in one so I got this guild and I think y know what happened next...

Indent As for Harvest Moon... Well, I played the SNES game and loved it since the beggining. After that I had to play all the versions I could find, including N64, GCN, GB, GBA and will have to get a DS just for this game. I really love this game but I always thought it would be nice to actually interact with some more people and not just the same 20 characters the games had... and the best way to do this is with real people! So... this gave me the idea of a Harvest Moon based RP. Soon I started to look for his kind of roleplay and found one I liked but it died of inactivity... as all forums I've been in T-T. But now it's my time to create the roleplaying guild and I really hope you will help me to keep this guild alive for the rest of our lives ^^.

Indent As we all know, the profiles is one of the most important things in a roleplay. The profile contains all the information about your character that other people might need to know so they can roleplay with you. In some RPs, such as this one, you will have to fill out a form so it's always good to know your character beforehand. There are some cases when you don't need to fill certain fields but tyr to fill everything unless otherwise stated.

Indent When making a profile you'll need to consider some aspects in order to make a wonderful profile everyone will like. Those aspects are: Originality, Description, Names, Appearance and - in some cases - equipment. I'm explaining a bit about those aspects now.


Indent Originality
Indent "By originality, I don't mean the origins of your character. I mean how creative your character is and whether it's been done before. When creating a character, try something that has never been done before. Don't stick to the old school girl whom parents died in a tragic accident and was adopted by an evil woman that made her life a hell so she ran off her house and lived on her own since then... You have to be creative when creating your character. Try to go somewhere out of the box. Step in places no one else has been (and if it means a boy going into a make-up salon, so be it).


Indent Description
Indent When describing your character, you have to be very blunt and to the point. Describe their clothing and appearance clearly. Use powerful adjectives instead of just 'beautiful' or 'pretty'. Try to add every single thing. The more specifi your description is the more 'tools' you'll have for roleplaying later on.

Indent Also, when describing their personality, perhaps you should say why they is like that. Are they cheerful because they're an outgoing and active person? Also you should list things that you ought to mention. Like certain traits your character has (e.g. biting nails when nervous). Just put whatever you feel is neccessary (like, your character could be claustrophobic). When talking about the personality you might want to mention some aspects of your character's life: past experiences is what forges your personality... that and genes.


Indent Names
Indent When creating a name for your character, make it mysterious. Don't call your character Tom or Bob. Those names are boring. Try something like Pyrite or Felicity. Make it creative. This will make your character stand out more. Unless it's some really boring RP about real life, stick to made-up names. In this roleplay you might use common names yet it is better to add some flavor to the character and the name is the first thing the people will learn about your characters.

Indent Also, Japanese names can be really annoying at times. Especially ones ripped off anime/manga. Things like, Inuyasha. How many Inuyashas have been RPed on gaia? Sure, it's ok if the RP has a central japanese theme to it by why would you get a japanese name appear in a Harvest Moon RP? When choosing names, make sure it would be a valid name according to the theme of the RP. If you want to use a Japanese name make sure you're explaining the reason behind the name in your character's Bio.


Indent Appearance
Indent When describing your character's appearance, you have to be ever so creative. So, we're going to look at each 'topic' in detail.

Indent Hair:
Indent When describing hair, include these few points: hair colour, length and straight or curly. You might want to describe the fact that it gets frizzy easily or it is always neat and tidy no matter what you do to it.

Indent Eyes:
Indent I have given this a topic of its own because your character's eyes are very important. Describe their colour or anything mysterious about them. Be sure to put in the size of the eyes too. This is more for those puppy-love RPs where people stare into each other's eyes and see deep inside their soul.

Indent Face:
Indent There is nothing better to base a first impression of someone then by looking at their face. If your character has a scar, it implies its had a hard time or its been in battle.
On your face, you might want to put any distinct features. Perhaps your character suffers from acne? Or it has many freckles. Don't just put your character as 'drop-dead gorgeous'.

Indent Clothing:
Indent Now, here comes the complicated bit. I tend to describe upper body garments and work downwards (leaving shoes 'till last).
You must include the colour of the clothing (the material?) and anything else you can think off. Even include the colour of the buttons on it.
For shoes, you should put its type (whether it's sandals, boots etc.). Also, describe material and colour and any other tidy-bits you want to add.

Indent Accessories:
Indent Ah, here's the fun part. I adore describing accessories. Accessories are defined as anything that is decorative or an extra part to your outfit. Such as hand-bags, ribbons, bow-ties etc.
Your accessory doesn't have to be realistic. You could have a hand-bag made out of dragon skin!


Indent Equipment
Indent It's important to let people know about your equipment. Whether you have explosives in your bag or just a tube of lipsticks, this step is essential. You can't suddenly pull out a rifle from your hand-bag. It's good to know your equipment before-hand as it creates realism. Otherwise, you're always going to have the right piece of equipment at the right time. That's sometimes Godmoding.

Indent Also, you might want to check with the maker of the RP if a certain weapon is alright. For example, some RPers don't want you to have a gun in their RP because it's supposed to be a peaceful RP. In this case we will try to stay away from weapons as much as possible and you won't have an equipment early in the roleplay but you will be able to purchase some things to aid you in your jobs.


Indent Stats!?
Indent In this specific roleplay we will be using a 'stats' section in all your profiles. This section will include Energy, Hunger and Skills.

Indent Energy will display your current energy; you will need this energy to perform your jobs and if you run out of energy you will pass out and will have to be taken to the hospital/clinic where you'll have to pay the hispital bills to the people in charge... Of course that is a good way to meet a nurse so...

Indent The Hunger will be here to make sure you'll be eating something every now and then. Of course this stat will be regenerated by eating so make sure to cook somehing or buy a meal at the local bar/inn. If the hunger reachs 0 you will pass out and will have to be taken to the hospital/clinic where you'll have to pay the hispital bills to the people in charge... Of course that is a good way to meet a nurse so...

Indent The skills will display your current skill level with your tools. You'll need to increase your skill if you want to purchase better tools. An upgraded tool will help you perform your jobs easier, that means you won't need as much energy as you would usually need for your chores.

IndentAs every Harvest Moon fan already knows, diaries/journals are very important for the story. They contain the most deep thoughts and secrets of all the characters, including what they think of all the people. Of course all this info is private so even thought you'll be posting your diaries, the other characters (characters, not people) won't be able to read them. Of course this means that even if you read someone else's diary, your character will NOT know what is inside.

IndentDiaries and Journals in this guild will work as a normal diary. It will be posted in the subforum with the following format:

Post 1: Title/Logo + Physical Description and location of the diary.

IndentThis is to help with the roleplaying... If someone breaks into your room they might find the diary. But if the diary is hidden outside of the room they won't find it in the room...



Post 2: Relationships

IndentThis is the most important thing about the diaries. In fact, you don't need to be posting entries yet you MUST have this section. This is an easy post, all you have to do is to make 4 different lists of the people you know (make a different list for Boys, Girls, Adults and Children). Then you think of what heart color you'll be using for each person. Each color has a meaning so just refer to the next section for the color coding. And last, add a small text after the name that states your feelings for that person. At the end it should look like this:

In this guild we have a custom time system. This system will allows us to roleplay in different days or times. We'll make it easy to follow so its not hard to remember.

Time in Moonspring Valley is twice as long as our time. That means each role play day lasts 48 real hours. The first 24 hours make the morning while the latter make the afternoon and night. Make sure to look at the Season Info thread for the calendar, so you don't get lost.

In addition, we have special threads. Right now we have two kinds of threads. They are:

1) Regular threads
In these threads time will flow as usual. It will never stop. If you stand a whole week in this thread without sleeping, you could expect your character to be passing out for the lack of sleep. This kind of thread includes: Houses, Stores, Zones.

2) Loopholes
In these threads, time does not flow. It is always static. You have to state in the first post or in the title the day and time the thread is taking place. That will allow you to role play a single scene for weeks if you must. All the events will be hosted in this style to allow for more interesting festivals. We also have a special sub-forum for you to start your own loophole.

The seasons will be just like in real life. When there is spring in real life there will be spring in the roleplay. Each season has its own characteristics; this includes weather, crops, animals, herbs and, of course, events and festivals.


Spring
Weather: Sunny most of the time with a few rainy days.
Crops: Turnip, Potato, Cucumber.
Animals: Squirrels, Butterflies, Bees, Grasshopers, Foxes...
Herbs: ...
Festivals: New Year's Eve, Spring Goddess Festival...


Summer
Weather: Sunny most of the time with strong rains and/or cloudy days.
Crops: Corn, Onion, Pineapple, Pumpkin, Tomato.
Animals: Beetles, Butterflies, Foxes, Grasshopers, Squirrels, Snakes.
Flowers: Pinkcat Flower, Moon's Tear.
Grass: Blue Grass, Green Grass, Indigo Grass, Purple Grass, Red Grass.
Herbs: Mushroom, Wild Berries, Wild Grapes.
Trees: Banana, Grape, Orange, Peach.
Festivals: Lake Party, Chicken Festival, Cow Festival, Fireworks Display.
