"The "emo" today is not emo at all, emo is being hardcore and loyal to your beliefs..also being a music junkie.
The emo today is all stereotype, whether you believe me or not thats what it is. I would know because I grew up with it my entire life. Cutting is a stereotype and became what emo is about because of retards who cut were on the scene of it and ended up ******** it up. You should not be wasting your time trying to get rid of emo, you should be wasting your time trying to get rid of cutting"

"Also I am technically classified as an Emo, I do not cut, I appreciate life but still I am emo, like I said, I grew up with it."

"Oh and I also noticed a lot of bashing on the genre, I just wanted to point out that without the original emo scene lots of the good bands today would have not been inspired to play, also a lot of the modern metal has inspiration from some emo bands...And screamo kicks a**" 3nodding "...and many of the bands that you guys were bashing were emo-core"

"Flames are also welcome, It would be humourous to see what flames you can come up with" whee

EDIT - Just to let you know I did not sneak in this guild, I pretty much said exactly what I said here 3nodding

well i don't really know much about the music.....i dont listen to any of those bands so i havent made any comments on it. Other than that what i see alot of people doing in this forum is ripping on those 'emos' who are stereotypes. i know they are not true emo's and even Lunar Song and another person have mentioned on emo forums that they cannot be a genre of music. It's the stereotypes that have been following a trend that peeve me off

Note. when i put emo in quotations ( ' ' ) im not talking about true emo's.....im talkin bout trend-following 'emos'

"ch'yaa, now though emo is a group, except it is just what I described about be hardcore, loyal, blah blah blah, since the cutting came up many people have started considering themselves emo, as in what I described, inorder to gain popularity to show what real emo-ness is, so far its not working though and has remained mainly underground"

I can't say much about the cutting theory, but I can't tell you why.

Yes, the Emo today IS nothing but a stereotype... I thought this Guild had somewhere already established that? ^^;
Sure, cutting IS a bad thing, but was Emo really created by it? I don't think so. :/ I think when it all comes down to it, the emo-core style music in fact, DID start it. I mean, what kind of kids listen to REAL Emo music nowadays? Slim to none.
My point is, that Emo's weren't created because of cutting but because someone decided to make the *music* a *trend*.
A horribly unfashinable and annoying trend, at that.

Some people really DO cut because they really ARE depressed. Emo kids make light of that, and let's face it, there's nothing amusing about that.

And, I see no reason to flame you. You have intelligently attempted to make a point, and I have done the same.
Though, the tauntings you made kind of make me what to giggle.

If you clasify yourself as Emo, as long as you're here, what ARE you? What DO you stand for? What is EMO in your terms? Hm?
Do you consider MCR,FFTL, AFI, to be Emo-core? Because in all actucality, they aren't REALLY. They weren't created in the 90's, and they didn't fade in the 90's. They were made THIS year, and somehow, someone slapped the title "EMO" onto them, when they sound NOTHING like the Emo-core bands of the 90's. What bands do you consider Emo?

Enlighten me, oh glorious [non-stereotypical Emo who could just end up contradicting himself and being a hypocrite just the rest] one.

I haven't been in this guild for very long, sorry sweatdrop

Agreed, it is very hard to get your hands on real emo music because it was already underground, with the trend it was just burried further down sadly

I know many cutters and it saddens me because when people try to help they feel even worse about themselve sad

I know you cannot really be a genre of music, some people do classify themselve as emo's though, its a way to fight back against the cutters and the trend. I don't "stand" for something, I am against something. Cutting mainly, its stuff like that that creates things like more suicide, depression is bad, it can makes others depressed, it can spread. Hell if it got really bad it could very well screw up the next generation even more. Real Emo in my term is what I described in my first post, hardcore loyalty to your music and beliefs.

Emo-core as in relating to bands that are on the emo trend, they may not sound like the real emo bands but they are the newer generation unfortunately. As to what bands I consider emo, I don't really consider any band truly emo anymore, I may say something is but now adays its just quicker and better then saying emo-core
EDIT - Just to add in, I have heard some emo-core bands who have actually shown some similarity's to real emo music, I will dig some more and see if I can pinpoint some examples for you

If I was planning on contradicting myself then why would I come here in the first place? This may not be everyones opinion or what everyone believes but this is my opinion, what I believe, hell this is what I grew up with. My sister was a hardcore music junkie. Mainly in the Hardrock, semi-metal area, such as emo-core, she does know some emo bands but she moved out a long time ago and I regret not remembering the names of the groups xp gonk

Yesh, yesh, I know long posts suck but I felt like breaking it down, easier to collect thought logically 3nodding

Fair enough.

I also have the same belief of what "real Emo" is. I don't know, this 'emo' trend of today, is just so confusing. It's hard to seperate what's real, and what isn't. Who knows, maybe we're all wrong. :/ Who can really say what true Emo is? Who can really say that for any type of trend or lable? And finally, who's to say? All we can make are intelligent assumptions that could be all in vain in the end. XD But, at least they make valid points, right? Thanks for clarifying what you stand for--- or against, if you will.

What I think, there is no "true" Emo anymore, and I refuse to accept the new day and age bands as such. I guess that's not very logical, but it's what I think.
It would help to have those references you speak of, though.

Well, a lot of 'Emos' and 'non Emos' alike come here and contradict themselves all the time. I have to be careful. XD I didn't really know about you in this Guild, your way of speaking or 'typing', because this thread is the first thing I read with you in it. I now know that you are an in depth thinker, with no intention of flaming or being ignorant.
