I volenteer for a GLBTQ Youth group where I live, and I get to learn all kinds of shibby information. One thing that has sparked my interest of late is intersexed people. Now I wanna know if anyone on here knows about that. I do know some information. Please feel free to ask me anythig.

An intersexed person is a person with characteristics of both a male and a female, normally emotional characteristics (male behaves like a girl, girl behaves like a guy, etc.).

ok so intersexual is when you have a female brain and a male body? is that what u mean by inbetween sexes? or is it like a female having a p***s? i know what tansexual is...Muahaha. wait. dont think i did that cuz i didnt O-o;. im only 16 <<;..

Ok, so you all have a pretty close understanding of intersex, but not quite there. Someone isn't "intersexual", I have no clue what that might be. Intersex is a term that describes someone who is born with an "awkward" set of chromosomes. You know that when a person is born, their gender is defined by their choromosomes. XX for women and XY for men. A person who is born intersexed is born with an extra chromosome attached I.E. XXY, XYX, XYY, ect. ect. The resulting mixture can result in a person being born with with both sexual reproductive organs (either one or neither working) or a "deformation" upon the genitals. 1 in a 1,000 people are born intersexed. They are not transexual, although later in life they may choose gendre re-assingment. You may never know if you neighbor, friend, partner, or anyone else for that matter could have been born intersexed. There are a few problems with this though. Not only dose the person born intersexed have a feeling of not fitting into societies definition of "gender", they often result in mental retardation. Another problem is that too often, parents and doctors decide a gender for the baby born intersexed. They way they do it is by looking at the chromosomes. In other words, a baby could be born with a p***s or an enlarged clittoris, but there chormosomes could be XYX, meaning genetically that the child has more of a female trait then male. The problem with this is that people who go through gender re-assingment at birth often grow up feeling that they should have been the other gender.
