[Gahnna] finding out that the one that you true love is cheating on you with a girl that lives out of state. thats mine. and the really sad thing is that i still love him a lot and i cant help it crying I have been in that position with my first love, in the 6th grade. I hated finding out, but the srecw ball of it all there were 7 others people involved. mad it made me so mad i could spitt nails.

heart broken is a way you feel when some one you love hurts you very badly. It brings a feeling of sadness, and depression

I've not been in a relationship... ever. So I can't say how it feels to break up with someone, or have my heart broken.

Why do I feel so connected when I know it's all over?
Is it because I felt I had someone just for me?
Why do I still feel you close to me?
Is it..because I cant baleive it's over..befor it even began?
Why do I contenue breathing?
Is it because I hope one day you'll return to me and say you made a mistake?
Why can I have a straight face when I hear your name when inside Im dying?
I know why...Because I loved you more then my own life you saw this and yet you threw me away like a peice of trash that you couldnt stand looking at eny longer........

To me, broken hearted is the empty or sad feeling you get when you find someone has done something that has hurt your feelings, or when you have made someone upset. I find some people may also express this empty feeling by getting secretly mad, or lashing mad. Others may just simply stay away from people. I do know that the broken hearted feeling also happens when someone close to you dies, or is in coma, or mabey even other things that aren't so serious. The easiest way for me to describe it as, is simply an empty feeling.

~sigh~ heartbroken= someone you considered a friend helps the other person when you get in a fight and then steals your glasses.

I don't think heartbroken really applies only to a couple.
You can be heartbroken after someone broke your trust.
Heartbroken is an emotion where you trusted or put your faith in someone or something and they never came through...but that's kinda more like disappointment..I don't really have a definition...
But I think I agree with Amber6153's definition.

to me heartbroken in that feeling of emptyness. That sudden sharp pain that hurts the heart as if it were stabbed with a knife radiating with heat. I guess its the lonelyness that can amplify heartbrokeness. It is an emotion and indication of conciousness. to learn we must experience as much as we can even if its painful. I have been heartbroken for the past 5 years because I couldnt be with her. as long as i wished to be with her there was no others that caught my attention. Now I have been set free. the beautiful thing about something broken is that it can be healed and mended together. The only question that I wish to ask is: what is love?
