Just curious, but does anyone else enjoy sitar and raga music as much as I do? It puts me in such a medatitive state. The notes and chords seems to carry your thoughts away on them. Recenly I experimented with listening to sitar music for a week straight. The outcome was positive, I felt rather relaxed. Though the right effort part of the eightfold path withered a tad, the other seven rose. Anyone willing to take this up and compare their results with mine?

I can probably swear that Indian (sitar, bansuri, etc) music probably originated in the heavens of the deva realms xD The music sounds so heavenly as if it came to earth by accidental means.

I'm going to have to speak against Ravi Shankar:
I've spoken to a person that's knowledgeable in Indian Classical on Soulseek (who plays Sitar, actually) and he's stated that most with knowledge of the genre feel that he's killing it. He uses Western tuning rather than the traditional tuning that is considered correct and distorts the form in the process. People who don't do that sound quite a bit different, but unfortunately, due to his popularity that's a dying art.
That said, I have a little indian music DL'd but I haven't heard anywhere near enough. Anyone have any other recommendations? Sitar in particular.
