This is a really great series! I've gotten to love wallpaper since i moved to france...they have so much more than we do, and it comes in really great patterns and colors.
I think it has a vague cataloguy feel to it though, because all the compositions are the same..That is with all the furniture in the lower right worner, all the text in the lower left, and the wlaper dominating the same space in all three. it does sort of unify the pieces in a nice way....i'm just not sure in a necessary way, since you could still tell it was a series since other elements repeat themselves often enough.

I by no means am makeing excuses for the composition, it's just the start of a series, so I haven't explored it to it's full potential. I suppose I do really enjoy that composition though, it's very tense and secluded. I have begun to experiment with composition since I am having a show this tuesday, and have been up almost all night two nights in a row, aha had to varry it up in order to actualy do the work. I don't espicaly see a problem with them all having the same composition though I see it more now that you mention it. I did them all at the same time though, in six hours, so, I don't feel too bad. They were an assignment at school, (Series of three[I did four]) so the ideas were all mine. Hope that explains a bit. The series is about life, and how furniture is more alive than most people I know.

There's not much I can add in terms of critique, but I really love these. heart Care to extrapolate on the media used?

Ink and pen, scrap booking paper, watercolours, matt medium, water colour pencils, wood stain. Used a little bit of sandpaper to create wear in the 'wallpaper'

I love it. If I had more than two thumbs I'd put them up as well.
The ink and the colour is really nice, this is the kind of style I am edging towards for some children's book illustrations I am playing with.
(Yeah, I'm writing a book...stuff it, why not? I'm going to make it for my little sister's christmas, she's 5 smile It's about a magic teapot coincidentally.)
Anyway, I'm talking about me not the picture. I can't see what the text is saying in all of them, although I take it it's the name of the picture at least. I don't like it at all to be honest. It looks too me like it's unnecessary and is just added to make the pictures look more "arty". Maybe I'm being a neophyte but that seems to be what art students do when they can't think of anything else; Pritt-stick a few magazine clippings on. Oh, I'm a cynical cow.
I like the rich colours and the scrappy paper, the interiors look kooky and loved. They sort of make me feel like I'm waiting for something to happen, not in a bad way, like the wobbly lines of the mirror could morph and show a figure appearing. A bit sinister perhaps; I think that might also be because of the slightly decayed look of the paper and the prominent shadows.

vry nice. I love this concept and it looks good in reality tooo.
though the brown one that has less patterning on it looks like more like cardboard, i and I don't think it went with the pink couch.
