Yugioh has been editted far to many times in english. But, are some of those things worth it?Cards: They have been editted in english because of sex appeal, religious reasons, ect. But is this all really needed? Is it that bad that kids see a little cleavage or get the allusion of the cards having nothing on (ex: all the cyber girl cards). And, is it wrong to have kids play with angels and devils, yet they can play with "Egyptian gods"? Anime: In the anime stuff from sex appeal to vulgar language has been editted. But, did this in turn make the anime worse off? Does it now seem that Yugioh was really intended for younger kids, when in turn it was intended for older teens? Was it a good idea to center their target to younger kids, in turn making edits like fan service, language and other stuff needed? Commericals: They don't even keep the same commericals. What makes them think a commericial acting terribly like Judai or Yugi will make them more interested. I agree with their censorship of cards. I mean...its a game, not a deck of porno cards o-o
I mean...seriously. Their boobs were un-realistically big, and there were some scrawny girl-cards! For the religious reasons...yes and no. I mean, they're just cards. I'm sure God wouldnt come down and smite us all for playing yugioh. But then again, Churches get mad at a lot of stuff like that, So its better to play it safe, and avoid a lawsuit o-o
And...well...the anime. Okay, I admit that I used to like it, and it may be because of the censoring, but I'm not overly fond of it anymore. But it may also be because the show was targeted at a younger audience...and I'm like 18 o-o
So for either reason, I lost intrest in the anime. Well at least for now. Aaand thats my oppinion!

in my opinion most anime are better in japanese, left untouched completely or at least subbed. yugioh is the same, for the very few episodes i have seen raw.
and the cards, they are better in japanese. its unfortunate that they end up modifying the pictures, text, and the names too. lesser fiend, for instance looked so much cooler in japanese than english crying

Crono Leonhart -> True I see what you are going at with the fact of religious issues. But, you have to realize that this is only a game... we aren't provoking demonic powers (*stares at yugi* ...well not all of us sweatdrop ), but even then it's just a show. Just because a card says demon or angel doesn't mean you're trying to show that you are a god and can summon an angel at will... it's more like a mythical idea that is being used (you don't see fantasy novels getting beat up over because they have angels and demons on the cover...)
Now the censoring of card art. Umm... I think you're a little mislead on "porno" because for no reason are those cards in any way "porno". They just sort of lead you into thinking of that idea, it's more of a watered-down ecchi then anything, even then... I mean sure, it's not good for little kids, but still... the card game and anime in japanese is targeting a different age.
Angel.EXE -> ya, most anime that is editted turns out pretty bad (*stares at 4kids...*). It's not only that, but the japanese actually had a few more comedical scenes that aren't in english (the first one that pops in is a chibi verison with abidos and judai ^^)....
It also would be nice for some of the original pics...I'm lost at a few like why Axe of Despair doesn't have a face there, or Don Zalood has two swords and not two guns (even though in the anime he has two guns...). On top of that, half those edits in the anime are pretty bad... I mean they don't take much time on it, and they look pretty bad.
Overall, it would be nice to see Yugioh have choosen a different audience then little kids... but did they have to have the anime take the same step as well?

It was something they didn't have much choice about.

So...yeah, While it could be ment for teens, I'm sure little kids would wanna play too, and parents would probably discourage the game if they knew there were revealing images surprised

Wizards makes tonnes of awsome TCG's e_e Like pokemon biggrin They probably would have handled Yugioh better than Konami did...Or wait...Did Konami do Character designs, or did they produce their own cards aswell?

Well, about the religious thing, there are churches that don't care wether or not what the cards say on them. I go to a church, and I bring my cards with me all the time, and the pastor there doesn't say I'm not going to heaven because I have those cards.
Also, in the anime, in english they refer Duelist Kingdom as the first season of Yu-Gi-Oh, while there was a whole entire season of Yu-Gi-Oh that was never shown in English. The only anime that I've seen that had a decent english dub was Sailormoon (don't make fun of me about it, I was only 7 when I watched it). There editing for Yu-Gi-Oh kinda sucked in the Duelist Kingdom season because I could still see the guns that Pegasus' gaurds held in the background.
With the cards, the worst card that I have that shows alot is "Harpy Lady". In the anime, she's wearing a one-piece bathing suit like thing, but on the card, she's barely wearing anything.

I have an english copy of a harpies lady with original art. My guess is that first ed. LOB never had any edits... or they forgot the worst one of them all, Harpies lady. And yes, her outfit is very seductive... Good dubs? Well... there are a lot of better companies other then 4kids... Some good companies are ADV and Genon, check out almost any anime in there and you'll see amazing voice actors to say the least. Funimation gets some good ones sometime but not all the time (I mean it's quite funny that the voice actor of Broly is the same as Edward Elric... (Vic Mignogna))... plus Funimation is starting to get better anime then DBZ now...I'm intending to check out Mahou Sensei Negima (lol, they got Greg Aryes to play Negi xd xd )

I have a "Trial of Hell" card, which they renamed "Trial of nightmare" xd
EDIT: So yeah, I guess they didn't censor Metal Raiders either, becuase thats when Harpy Lady came out

It's very true 3nodding Vic Mignoga is a great actor xd It seems funimation is now looking to get like atleast two good actors along with there original cast of actors... since Greg Aryes normally does ADV, I was suprised he would do Negima xd He's a great actor as well xd Also, another cool yet unexpected suprised was Luci Christian... she is like my second favorite female voice actor (english)...and she'll play as Asuna. But man... if they someone like ADV... Genon... Funimation... any of them, if they dubbed Yugioh or GX, it would be 10x better with much better actors and they would stick to the original dialouge... and no wierd edits xd (heh, I actually thought of this once...and made a list once for a couple ADV actors that would be perfect in GX xd )
