Balcerzak Oh, and as long as we're on the subject of books, I'm curious who's read Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy, as I was intrigued by his concept of overthrowing the Kingdom of Heaven to construct the Republic of Heaven. Other than that, I was curious who else (among the Terry Goodkind readers) sees strong Randian overtones in his work, especially the later ones. I guess it could just be my imagination, but it seems to close to be coincidence. Nothing more right now, I guess. I love the His Dark Materials Trilogy.

Dracofrost Has anybody else here read "The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History" by Thomas E. Woods, Jr., Ph.D.? I have, I found it quite interesting. Has anyone read Mugged By The State by Randall Fitzgerald? It is a good book that points out multiple cases of government abuses perpitrated against U.S. citizens due to crappy asset forfeiture laws and other unfair authoritarian rules. I am currently reading The Bloody Crown of Conan the second in a series which collects the original Conan stories written by Robert E. Howard in the 1930's. ...

I am reding "The Case for Democracy" by Natan Sharynsky, "The Modern Mind" by Peter Watson, "The Arab Mind" by Raphael Patai, and "Understanding Islam" by Yahiya Emerick. When I don't want to read analytical books I am reading "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hossenni.

I've been reading "Why Government Doesn't Work" by Harry Browne.
I've reread some parts, others not so much, but i really like the format of this book, my mother even picked it up and has read 8 chapters! (I thought she was hopeless!) Anyhow if you haven't read it I recommend it, it's an enjoyable book.

Hi,
I'm reading "Stupid White Men ...and Other Sorry Excuses for the State of the Nation!" by Michael Moore, "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley and "The History of Surgery" by Sir Roy Calne. I like them all.
