Itomori Origin & History
Itomori began as a small fishing village planted between a fruitful sea and a dark grove. Beastmen occupied this territory, hiding from the prejudice eyes of the higher and "holier" races. Stories passed down through generations explain that beastmen were made from a curse when a wolf fell in love with a human. The wolf's children took on humanoid forms and were outcast from their pack. The wolf children settled in the secluded clearing later named Itomori, or "thread forest", symbolic of the threads of fate which led to the beastmen's isolation.
Itomori soon grew in in population, leading to a higher need of resources. The beastmen expanded their territory into the dark grove and along the coastline. The trees and thick undergrowth gave protection as well as small game while the ocean continued to provide fish and salt, the two major trades of Itomori.
Itomori houses a very Oriental style, spanning from their naming, architecture, and even culture.
Morimoto Origin, History, & Family Traditions
The Morimoto family is almost as old as Itomori itself, symbolized in its name, "forest origin." They were first to be appointed as the Beastmen representatives when the kingdom first began to take shape. The family grew into a matriarchy --where females rule while males stay as royal advisors or military officials.
The current queen, Saya Morimoto, came into power after killing her own mother. Despite the ambitious takeover, Saya rules peacefully and neutrally in a world on the verge of another great war.
Beastmen Variants & Classes
Beastmen come in all shapes and species. The most common is the Wolf or Canine variants, the direct descendents from the original Itomori wolves. Feline, Avian, and Reptilian variants also exist in sizable numbers. Equus variants are rare and almost believed to be extinct. Due to their rarity, they are often kept as show pieces by Nobles of other kingdoms.
(Note: Just about any creature that is "part human/part animal" will fall under the Beastman category. That being said, Beastmen should follow the lifespan of somewhere between human and the beast they are hybridized from.)
The Lycans are a hunting group of wolf beastmen. All of them have direct lineage to the original Itomori pack, and for this have certain pardons from the Crown's Laws --as well as highly exclusive membership. Their hunting grounds are primarily located in Edge's Grove of Itomori and are some of the few that can navigate the forest by themselves. The current Alpha is Hibiki Mori.
Humans are accepted within Itomori, though they still rank lower than the native Beastmen. They cannot hold high positions, but are otherwise treated equally within the kingdom.
Natural Abilities
Many Beastmen have natural abilities-- abilities that are common and widely known and do not count toward the character's ability count. To add a natural ability to a Beastman Profile, please place the following code under the character's abilities in their profile:
Note: This list may be updated as more beastmen types are brought into play.
The Lycans as well as most wolf beastmen have the innate ability to shift between their humanoid forms and that of a wolf. This stems from their original curse.
Feline beastmen may have enhanced sight as well as better agility and flexibility than most beastmen.
Avian beastmen are typically capable of flight as well as enhanced sight and hearing.
Reptilian beastmen may have a range of natural abilities depending on what they take after most. Lizard-like beastmen may have the ability to regenerate lost limbs, while Snake-like may shed their skin regularly.
