Best Trait: Obedient - At least when it comes to her family, Amarth tends to be obedient, especially with her elders. She doesn't argue, she doesn't try to act out, she just does what she is told and moves on.

✦ Demon Physiology - Well, she has the typical physical abilities of a demon.. That is, enhanced physical abilities, such as speed, agility, strength, endurance, and dexterity. The usual suspects. Due to being a shadow demon, she can see very well in low light conditions, and her hearing is quite good.
✦ Darkness Manipulation - Like most shadow demons, Amarth possesses the ability to manipulate shadows and darkness in a few different ways.
Umbrakinetic Constructs - She is able to form solid objects from darkness, such as appendages, barriers, platforms, restraints, and weapons.
✦ Animated Shadow - Amarth is able to temporarily grant her shadow a semblance of life, allowing it to move independently from herself, and attack nearby targets. This ability manifests in one of two ways when she uses it.. Either by having her shadow form into a solid mimicry of her body or more subtly, such as by simply making her natural shadow move.
Shadow Mutilation - When her shadow attacks another person's shadow, it will cause physical harm to that person.
Shadow Puppetry - A variation where instead of damaging an opponent's shadow, she is able to gain control of another person's motor functions by infusing their shadow with her own. This is achieved by 'connecting' their shadows.

Strengths:
✦ Swordsmanship - While far from a master, she does possess enough skill with a blade to be dangerous.
✦ Pain Tolerance - Amarth has an unusually high tolerance for pain, both physical and emotional.
✦ Shadowvein Immunity - With Divinoxia's blood flowing through her veins, Amarth is one of the few beings that is immune to the Shadowvein Corruption her mother makes use of.

Weaknesses:
✦ Being a demon, she is weak to angelic abilities.
✦ She is also weakened by holy places.
✦ Her eyes are quite sensitive to changes in light. She finds brightly light places tend to hurt her eyes.
✦ Sudden loud noises are... Disorientating. Lots of loudness, and/or brightness, in general will often leave her with a pounding headache after just a few minutes.
✦ Powers that would effect her mind and her perception of reality are very effective against her. She can't tell the difference between an illusion and the truth.
✦ The obvious weakness of darkness is, of course, light. However, on the flip side, light is required for the creation of shadows, making it also a necessity in order for her to use some of her abilities.
✦ Strangely, she seems to be unable to actually create darkness.. Only manipulate it where it already exists.
✦ Large amounts of light can destroy her constructs.
✦ Construct strength often depends on the will of the creator. Due to her passive nature, most of her constructs will prove quite delicate and can easily be destroyed with one solid blow.
✦ If she is rendered unconscious or otherwise incapacitated, her constructs will melt back into darkness.

✦ Animated Shadow and the related abilities can only be used when she and her target have/i] shadows. This means it requires a light source to work, and is ineffective in areas which are too dark.
✦ At the present time, she is only able to animate her own shadow.
✦ Her shadow does not possess true sentience. Rather, when not being actively controlled, it reacts instead to her subconscious/instincts.. Making it often take impulsive actions, including ones that would be out of place in a battle.
✦ Even while animated, her shadow can be destroyed the same way a normal shadow can be.
✦ Anything that happens to the shadow, happens to the real body. Damage done to Amarth's shadow while it is animated will be reflected on her own body as well. This does indeed have the potential to be fatal, though simply destroying her shadow with a burst of light will only severely injure her, not mortally wound her.

✦ She is only able to mutilate another person's shadow while her own is animated.

Bio: To any outsider, Amarth was born into an ideal situation for a demon. Her parents were both highly ranked nobles, which gave her the advantage of status from birth.. And they appeared to love each other, which was both a risky position for any demon, and yet also something good for the resulting child. The day of her birth was a happy one, for her mother. Finally able to hold her newest child in her arms.. What a perfect little bundle she was, an innocent new life just brimming with possibility. She didn't cry very much. She was more of a smiler, beaming at anyone in sight.. Things would change quickly.

Shortly after that, her father began to use her to torment her mother. She was only an infant, there was no way she could even understand what was happening. Her only concerns were eating, sleeping, and pooping at the time, after all. As she grew, she thought that this was just how things were. It was a very confusing dynamic. In public, her father maintained the appearance of a doting parent, possibly even overprotective in a way. Even as he harmed her mother, it appeared that no direct suffering was inflicted upon Amarth, other than the usual fallout from her being there, or overhearing things. Even this was not as it seemed, however. There were signs that things were wrong.

From the time she was a toddler, Amarth was a.. Clumsy child. She often ended up hurting herself in various accidents, though it never seemed to happen when anyone was around. More than that, she began acting.. Oddly. Like with most children, it was clear that she loved her parents.. But there was always a sense that she was afraid of her father. She grew into a quiet, withdrawn child.. At first, when she got into trouble, she was known to cry, but over time that stopped. She would just stand still and quiet, seeming like she would just completely zone out.

When she was still small, she once broke her arm. Seemingly, she had tripped and fallen down a flight of stairs. While talking to her half brother, Skytherix, she almost said something.. Different from the initial explanation. Her father was nearby, however, and overheard them talking. He was quick to whisk her away before she spoke out of turn. She refused to say anything other than the given story when asked after that. Around the same time, she began to learn about fighting, as all demon children do. It was important in such a brutal world. For if she could not defend herself, there was no telling what would happen. Those were the typical reasons, anyway.

Her clumsiness even extended into training, much to the worry of her family. Injuries seemed to grow even more common, even when her father took a personal interest in what she was learning. This clearly scared her, and yet she didn't protest. She was a good daughter! She always tried so hard to make her father proud of her.. Something that was practically impossible. Training was grueling. She much preferred book learning, but she didn't complain. She knew better... As time passed, she did improve. Even with all the accidents she always had..

Life continued as was normal with her family.. For a good forty years, until a day came when it all changed. Amarth was about sixty years old at the time, and had grown even more withdrawn and quiet. If one went by appearances, she was about the equivalent of a young teenager. Like most children going through puberty, she was starting to grow rebellious. Mostly, it was small things. Giving her parents some attitude, being moody.. Typical teenager behavior. Her mother handled it well, but her father... He was a different story. Anyway, on that day, after a particularly difficult day, she They were alone, or so he had thought.. But as he struck his daughter, knocking her to the ground, her mother happened to walk into the room. And she saw.

What happened next, happened very quickly. It was as if the room became filled with a swirling darkness, a fog that clouded her vision. Her mother was the source. She had never seen her mother so angry before. Practically radiating with fury.. This was a mistake her father would not live past. There was a brief struggle, then a crimson hue broke through the gloom as her father collapsed. Her mother, fueled by her fury, had killed the man that dared lay a hand on her daughter. But the damage was done.

Amarth had seen death. Her father had exposed her to this when she was small, often forcing her to be an active participant in a killing. But never like this... And her father of all people.. Despite the abuse, the phychological torture he had secretly subjected her to for so long it had become her 'normal'.. She did love him. She was horrified. She huddled herself away, backed into a corner. Flinching from her mother's touch when she came to her. Even though her mother had never mistreated her.. This one event would change things between them.

She had always been quiet, but she grew even more withdrawn after that. She still did as she was told, but she was distant with her mother. She didn't talk at much, and there were times when she seemed afraid of her. Witnessing her father's death was a trauma to add on to other traumas. Eventually, her mother decided to have her go live with her uncle. Her mother's annoying younger brother.


Personality: It is hard to imagine that Amarth is a member of the Ten'Serdsta family, and the daughter of two infamous demon nobles, as it seems she has almost no similarities to either of her parents. She is an extremely quiet, withdrawn person. She usually only gives one word responses, on the rare occasions when a person can get a response from her. Her opinions are usually kept to herself, except in moments of frustration or anger. She is not particularly friendly, being quite indifferent to people outside of her immediate family. She finds groups of people to be quite overwhelming, even if it is a very small group. For this reason, she prefers to avoid very energetic and/or loud people.

Compared to other demons, she has a certain air of fragility, as if she could break in an instant. She seems to drift through life with most of her attention focused inward, away from the world around her. She is rather passive, having a tendency to just go along with others to avoid conflicts. When an older member of her family tells her to do something, she always stops what little she may be doing to obey. She takes negative attention from others rather stoically, with little to no outward reaction shown. As with many things, she simply takes it and moves on. All this being said, there is a darker side of her that lurks beneath this serene surface...
