XXXXXAtusko is a closed off and careful individual, a bit of a lone wolf. At best he will follow orders given to him and at worst if orders fly in the face of his beliefs he would chose different methods to attain whatever goal might be had. Although jaded Atsuko still holds live to a great value and there is a reason he is in the military, wanting to help protect others who are less capable from the dangers of the shinobi world.
In terms of more general personality traits that aren't vocal Atsuko is very keen on details and quick to act when the time calls for it. Efficient, unflinching, when his mind is set on a goal he will do whatever it takes to accomplish it. Trusting other ninja however is something he would laugh at. The world of espionage was literally built on lies so getting Atsuko to work with others let alone enjoy the company of other shinobi is a tad bit difficult but not entirely impossible. It just goes without saying that Atsuko is expecting any person he meets to try to stab him in the back eventually.

XXXXXAtsuko's main fear is actually people. With such powerful jutsu and methods of high levels of destruction free in the world what Atsuko fears most is someone who would use all of that to dominate thousands or kill in the same numbers just out of sheer enjoyment. To him that possibility is more of an eventuality rather than an if, and it is something that has always instilled a great level of distrust in him of other Shinobi especially those of a strong measure of power that don't show restraint.
He also doesn't particularly care for birds.

XXXXXAtsuko is mature for his age the fact that he is for the most part taking care of himself it has made him quite cautious, as any rogue would be, well retaining a good portion of his curiosity. The opportunity to learn something new is very enticing to Atsuko. Although he is a rogue he isn't mean spirited, far from it. He is extremely patient and kind hearted most of the time, always coming off as soft and formal to new interactions. If he is of need to take of life he will often do it swiftly and as cleanly as possible, to minimize suffering, but he recognizes that in this world of violence and warfare that taking a life is sometimes necessary. Rarely will he ever act rashly if at all even in the face of adversity, as he always works to keep his mind calm and clear.
In regards to why he chose not to join a village belief is that the villages have grown to paranoid of one another, and their attitude reflects that both towards their citizens, military members, and ALL outsiders. All he truly wants to see is a future where there is more mutual trust and people working with each other, not against and is working to try to create that bit by bit with his family the Shishin. The Shishin to him are a group of freedom fighters rather then mercenaries and he sees any member of his group as family and will always give them the utmost respect and freedom even if he is counted as the 'leader'.
